The pen is mightier than the sword if the sword is very short, and the pen is very sharp. |
Okay, I know it might be a bit much to ask (it isn't really but in general it tends to be) but I would ask some of the folks who absolutely MUST rule in scenarios to go a little easier on new folks. I was in the same Scenario repeatedly on day 1 of the PW. I already knew the scenario from being in the CB last week. A lot of new folks who didn't know also joined. Khaine's Discipline is a hard one to get for new folks. Let's face it. Grab both flags, easy right? Not when Khaine levees his Discipline. People want to know why 'God' kills them. Then we have the 'OMG. This is the worst we've ever done' and ' Geez. WTF you people don't F'ing...etc'. Okay those folks knew exactly what they were doing the first time they ever entered a Scenario. They are UBER. No Question. But please be a bit more polite to newcomers. Stop running around for a minute and explain. Folks WILL get it and that ends up helping everyone in the long/short runs. All on the same side, right? Also, especially in the early (1st Tier) scenario, you get a lot of new players who jump in based on a quest they get early on. At least 3 times I ran Khaines and I was the highest level at a whopping 7. All my team mates in those instances topped out at .........WOOHOO 4. Sure we got steamrolled. They were new, didn't have the skills the opposing side did (at least 4 of the Chaos team were 7 or 8 in level). What the heck do the UBER LEET players expect? It was fun watching some of the same people queue up with me and after running it once or twice, getting the hang of it. Of having a healer stay back with me at the flag with maybe a tank to guard (I was running an SW). Of having people follow out to the edge of the blast radius and then figure how to run back up and tap the flag before Chaos did etc. When Casters figured how to tap an enemy at range to break them from getting our local flag. FUN STUFF FOLKS! Enjoy it! End Summary. Be polite and don't knock someone because they are new. Tomorrow, when they aren't so new, they may save your life.

Oh, and to answer your question "What the heck do the UBER LEET players expect?" ... They expect you to die and die quickly. |

I made a request in the hopes that someone might take it to heart either in the OB or at release. Nothing more.

The real "uber leet" guys will be leveling to get to the upper tier RVR content, not pissing about and whining at newbies in the low level scenarios. The people that do that are just assholes. |

Don''t reply to me or quote me if you can''t do so without breaking Forum TOS cause I will report you! |
Actually, this OP is probably referring to me in particular simply because when this game launches, it's going to require players to have some form of intelligence to play. Reason I say that is because while I was in Khaine's Discipline scenario, I watched the same people commit suicide over and over because they refused to listen to you. Sure, it isn't cool to have someone else tell you what you think you already know, but when your TEAM requires you to pay attention so they can win, cause they have to put up with your stupidity, expect things to get hostile. However, this is beta, so I really don't expect anyone to know what they are doing. Lack of guild groups and general knowledge passed on from beta players equates to continuous losses. When the game launches though, expect realm pride to take a backseat to hostile commands because believe it or not, each and every player can affect everyones chance of success. This isn't DAoC because DAoC didn't have scenarios that affected overall Tier control. This is the only area of WAR where your going to find this particular issue. Thats because scenarios are population capped and if half of the players are clueless and ignorant, it means the opposing forces just get that much closer to gaining Tier control. People will comment saying, it's just a game, but so are the olympics. Except in WAR, there is no silver or bronze medals, just a big fat gold one. I can just imagine how a country would feel if one of the swimmers on the relay swim team didn't give a crap about winning, cause it's just the olympics, ya, that'd go over real well. |
