I hate the game but i think i have to give it a fair chance, or re-evaluate why it is going down. I liked it but i could not bear the fact that even re-rolling takes you to the same quests. No game has that little content, even a starting area for a new race is standard. For a starter let me state that i enjoyed the game 1-20 very much, but at the same time knowing i have to do the same or similiar 1-20 again made me think. This takes me to point one, the 1-20 areas. 1. I loved them, they are single player mixed with multiplayer, srong story telling and voice, almost perfect, 90/100, simply fun. The thing that put me off right at the start is that we all do basically, with slight differences, the same quests. There is no special area for either of the apparent races. That is just bad, it is basic that races start at their own area and lore, this is just pathetic. 2. After 20 i could not get to the point but feel that this game was rushed, you port from the desert to a lush swamp area? WTF, this is not 1990, we can do better. It is an assembly of instances that do look nice, no doubt but they are half assed integrated into the whole world of Howards novels. It is a disgrace by any means. 3. Gritty and gore world. Yes that was what we wanted a world mature and gritty, with blood nudity and Howards way to define fantasy in a new way. Did they deliver? Nope, they did a god job on graphics no doubt, but the world feels generic and uninspired, probably because of instancing i dont know. 4. State of the game, tough point to discuss, i agree. From my point after 4 months, i do not see them to be able to salvage this train wreck. There are 2 options, They did develop 1-20 first and could not keep up. second is they did implement 1-20 last to make the game look nice. Either way, we are talking about 2 different games, they can not fix it, i am sure they lack the resources to fix it. the patches speak for me. there must have been a decision in the management at some point to change it all around, it is not the fault of the developers, i think it is the default of management. The game has solid points and it looks good, but it the design is way off. KJ |

I agree with you about the starting area. Just hard to believe that every faction started on the same area. I was peeved at that. For the most part starting races had starting areas. With AoC changing this was not a cool new hip thing...it was actually an annoying thing. If you wanted to roll another class and another faction you had to do the same exact quests. Another thing that turned me off to this game was the PvP. No thought whatsoever went into the PvP. I usually love PvP...IF...it is done right. AoC's PvP was so messed up even the GMs didn't know what to tell people. I mean....you had three factions but all three factions can kill each other and the other factions at the same time. It made utterly no damn sense whatsoever. And the final nail in the coffin for me were all the damn bugs, crashes, brown armor, armor that had Anarchy Online stats, and more instances than mcDonalds has illegal immigrents who work the midnight drivethrough windows. |

Thank you Scream, i just felt although i despise what they did they deserve an honest opinion. I am old enough to be above flames and general forum trolls. Unfortunately my current prediction is that they do not make it past Q3 but that is based on financial issues as well as the denial to merge servers. The visious circle is, if we merge servers (which i doub they can do for various reasons incl. keeps) they admit they have failed. If they dont merge the game leaks more subscribers, and eventually goes belly up. I do still think they have a solid game 1-20, i even enjoyed it to 54, but it has no re-play value at all, cause every character does the same quests all over again. You can stand that maybe once but then you ask yourself if your an idiot doing all the same stuff again. |

With the server issue: I believe they are better off merging, Bane (culture server - name escapes me), no idea what to do there..But a merge would indicate admission of a bad first few months. On the other hand, let's face it, it's needed, from what I read. An MMO needs social interaction, be it PvP madness or group dynamic. A massive loss of players is deadly, especially for a game designed around siege battles that are...broken.
