I think that there is potentionally no bigger fear in subscription gaming than when a player is charged for a game he is not longer playing. When this happens to one or two players , it can be considered a unfortunate mistake , but when thousands of players are accidentaly charged for game they are not longer playing, it is a negative outburst that can potentially effect the whole trust in MMO genre subscription safety.

All european players of Mythic Warhammer Online (distributed in Europe by GOA) that decided to quit their subscription in last month - have their subscriptions and billing reactivated since last two days

Indication and warning came only by double meaning email claiming "Option of automatic renewal is now active"

And this email came only to people that enabled check box - receive emails by GOA

Clearly, and I dont want to raise any fingers. It was a unfortunate mistake on part of goa coding. But in result all cancelled accounts became active again.

We are talking thousands accounts by any estimate. Let assume ( and judging from forums it is safe to say ) that less than half of those people bothered to read or noticed the GOA email.

We can safely assume that in next few days few thousands people will be billed without their consent for a game they are not longer playing.

Crazy isnt it ?

Not as crazy as the following fact:

Although this problem is raised by many people on many MMO forums (yes Mythic doesnt have their own forums - wonder why ?)

Most of this posts - WARNING PEOPLE - to check their accounts Are being locked and erased!

And no respectable web site owner didnt find a moral bone in their body to raise the question to GOA, or

let alone post an article warning MMO users to check their accounts !

Are they payed to keep the mater hush-hush ? Do they fear raising this embarrasing news will give them negative points by MMO developers ?

And who are they here to serve , developers or players ?

( I am looking at you massivelly.com , tentonhammer, mmorpg.com, warhammer alliance ... )

Anyway

You hear it now. It is checked and validated fact.

And this post will be here until it is locked and erased - to protect the company that could be unlawfully billing thousands of people in day from now.

It continues to amuse me how Mythic constantly supports GoA when everyone else knows they are the ultimate incompetents.  I would not give those people a credit card number ever.

Bet a lot of banks are getting irritated now since they have lots of customers calling in to reject the charge on their card.

Second Life almost got themselfs on the do not allow list for a dozen or so banks.   I wonder how much smooth talking mythic is going to have to do.

My last charge for my US account was 15.78 or something like that instead of 14.95.    Strange.

I don't know why you are pointing the finger at MMORPG.com. There is a 104 post (At the time of this post) thread that was started on the 14th here that hasn't been locked or deleted. Seems that at least this site isn't trying to cover up anything.

I know from experience second life does try to charge, months after you cancell your account. I had an account n land, was costing me about $35/month. When I cancelled the account n land, I also DELETED my CC info. A week later I received a notice that my payment info was incorrect and they couldn't bill me...3 weeks after I cancelled. I continued to receive these e-mails, then my account was blocked and I received an e-mail three months later stating in order to retrieve my account I had to pay them their 3 months of missed payments. Even tho I cancelled, in order to activate my account I needed to pay them for the time I was cancelled before I could re-activate my account...make sence? Ended up they deleted the account...

Either way I think everyone who uses a CC for any subscription needs to be sure to delete their info upon cancelling. Your info stays in their database for them to use at anytime.

Damn Mythic cut off this tumor that is GoA. It'll make the Europeans hate you, and then you'll only get the crappy dollar which is already practically worthless.

By the way. Before you call Mythic Nazis who are hiding this to steal Euros, did you check the post by MAGNUS-GOA on WarhammerAlliance regarding this issue? Sure, he's incompetant, but it's not like he doesn't want to confront the community about it. Nice try.

Gladly my sub just ran out after the 30 days time, I never gave them any credit card of bank account info, and seeing this I am damn sure I never will. Thanks for informing us of this, Lobo-san.

Yes, MAGNUS-GOA did respond on Wh-alliance. Promising more inforamtion tommorow...

That was two days ago , and no further posts or official response to this was made.

And as for sites locking threads about GOA billing. Both mmorpg.com and warhammerAlliance locked them. What they should do instead (at least) is to STICKY them.

This would help both users unaware of problem (and many figured it out just from forums) and help GOA
