Well, Long story short for us Europeans. I guess even Mark Jacobs is pulling his grey hairs out right now. I guess even he fell for GOA's lies that they promised to do better after the whole DAoC fiasco! But here we are today... WAR in Europe is nearly dead! - About 2/3rd of the servers are now mere ghosttowns. - Still no Server transfers in sight! It should have started around yesterday. But instead they launched the population dependend Heavy Metal Event, wich most players can't participate in due to being stuck on ghost town servers! GOA is yet again completely silent and even GM's have no clue when Transfers are coming! - GOA Screwed up with billing by reactivating canceled accounts and putting ALL accounts on automatic renewal without customer's consent! And they don't anything to rectify it! >> This is going to bite them hard through legal actions! As it's pure fraud! Nothing less, nothing more! I wonder where Mark Jacobs is now? I wonder what he has to say on all this right now? But I guess he isn't finished yet by pulling out his last grey hair! Seeing WAR in europe going down in flames! Bahh... should have bought the US version instead when I had the chance more then 2 months ago! But that's a little too late right now. Cheers |

There is only 1 serious issue that needs to be resolved like today and that is server transfers. Every day people quit because there are not enough players to play with or against. While the US consolidated their losses at the exact right time with server transfers, here in Europe they screwed up. Honestly, the only good solution now is to make 1 worldwide server pool and start transferring between US and EU servers. Just let people know what the timezone on a certain server is ( for maintenance and finding other players ), then WAR EU can be saved, otherwise it will become the same disaster as DAoC is ( DAoC english server died a horrible death, because everyone moved to US server or quit, and no merger with US servers was proposed, while even Japan server was allowed to merge into a US cluster ... ).

I have never understood why there is a need to separate mmorpgs by region. FFXI is a good example of a very long running game that has worldwide servers and there are no problems at all. It is even more cost effective to have worldwide servers as they are not sitting there half the time doing nothing while players are at work or sleeping. I always buy the us versions and i will simply not buy a game that does not allow me to play on US servers. I hope for all european players that they will allow migration to the US servers, but that is highly unlikely. |

Mythic before selling to EA is a small company and doesn't have the funds necessary to run two offices so like many small time MMOs companies they liscenced out to a company in that region. It was either code masters or GOA and to be honest both have shitty records with the MMO community. Only codemasters is slightly better. It is safer for the consumer in the long run but it sucks how poor the service in some areas. To bad when Mythic went with EA they didnt' go ahead and find a way to weasel out of using GOA since EA has Euro offices. |

May contain nuts. |
WAR EU will eventually die as people roll on US servers to play with larger pops. Those that don't will most likely quit and then GOA will reap what they have sown. |

GOA screwed the pooch royally with these transfer delays... The release slapstick comedy pales in comparison with what is happening right now. The only major flaw at the release was opening up with too many servers. Mythic calculated their server needs on typical WoW/EQ playing times but it turned out that WAR players typically play 30-50% less time per day (lack of timesinks primarily I'd say). This wouldn't be catastrophic per se but considering that WAR experience depends quite heavily on healthy server population it makes for a potential disaster. IMO Mythic and EA should take a good hard look US retention rates and EU retention rates and act accordingly. I'm sure there is a hefty difference between the two regions which can be measured quite precisely in cold hard cash. I have no idea what their contracts are but I'd say there is room for actual suit for damages. ATM EU servers are in a vicious circle - less people, less fun, even less people etc... It seems that in US Mythic managed to stop this destructive trend but EU has waited for faaar too long. I'm not saying that it can't be fixed but imo the steps that would need to be taken at this moment would be extremely painful - much much more then if they reacted in timely manner. Atm I'd say 3/4 of the servers should be merged IMMEDIATELY - and only when they start filling up with returnees other ones should start re-opening with immediate free transfers to them. In fact, that's how they should have handled the release instead of strangling the game in its crib by server overkill. Sad really. Such an awesome game hindered by such childish petulance - postponing the shame of server merging, like the problem will go away by itself while each day of inactivity only makes the ultimately unavoidable solution even more painful. Merge the damn servers! Who gives a flying f**** about the number of servers! Happy customers and ultimately the number of subscriptions is what counts. |

Something I noticed, if American companies can't host the games in Europe, the game can't be played in Europe. GOA failed for WAR, Codemasters fails for lotro. While NCsoft and Blizzard host their games worldwide, and they have the biggest MMO's out there. Guess why... |
