WoW is considered by most as the McDonalds of mmo because: 1. it's for the masses >young or old, casual or hardcore, PvEr or PvPer, noob or vet--- you'll find something in the game that will keep you hooked for a loooooong time I know an 8 year old who farms Arena pts. My old raiding guild leader is 54 years old and he plays with his son and his son's son annnnnd the raid warning announcer wife. 2. it's one the cheapest of all quality products out there >you still pay for sub but you don't have to buy a new computer to play this game i still play this game from time to time to check on my online friends using a 6year old Dell computer. :) 3. almost fast food >you can do quick PvE mob grinds, PvP via BG or WorldPvP (if you know where to find people ie, farm spots) It took me less than an hour to complete all the new Daily Quests with my main and alt. 300g easy. Don't forget the 200+honor I got from killing the other faction on the way to the quest spots. So, buy new / upgrade computer to meet new untested game's ridiculous requirements or save $ and play an award winning almost-bigger-than-country game? TY for dining. |

WoW killer? Not gonna happen anytime soon. Old and new companies don't want to kill WoW. They're thankful that Blizzard made a milestone. People see the mmorpg scene more now because of the ridiculous amount of hype WoW subs brought to the non-gaming world. New companies want a share of what WoW has but the main goal right now is to expand the mmorpg market. Killing WoW now is a very bad idea. Making something that can go toe-to-toe with WoW is the best option for companies right now. Having 2-3-4-or more mmorpgs that have million subs + WoW's 10mil sub is what people should be aiming for. If WoW loses a huge chunk of subs because they transferred to a new mmo, people who have the $$$ will lose interest to fund new projects because they'll notice that the mmorpg market has a cap. Let the 800lb gorilla of the mmorpg market enjoy the throne.
Let's say it's time. What will it take? 1. Better and cheaper technology. Making a game is not cheap. Making a game that has no ending is worse. We all have ideas we want put in the game. The problem is $ and the limited technology we have. 2. the Pixar of video games Who and Why did I pick Pixar? Toy Story, Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo ring a bell? Pixar took down the decades-old 2D animation industry in a blink of an eye then kicking it while it's down and kicking it more with every box office hit year after year. A bit too much? WoW is just 4 years old but it is backed by legions of War/Starcraft + Diablo and Blizzard fans. If there's group of people willing to take the challenge, they must be like Pixar. Pixar made 3D movies with passion. Passion that spilled over to their work. They made 3D movies they too would love watch. They made animated movies that appealed to all age groups. They got Steve Jobs believing in them and we all know how Mr.Jobs is. Imagine a game world made by these people... /cream What I hate about WoW now is the fact that it's slowly turning into a real McDonalds of mmorpg. People are noticing the half-assed content patch after patch. Content made without the love of the game. It's like having someone, who has no real idea of the game lore, made content just so they can announce an upcoming patch. |

Beta tested most of these games. I still have copies of some of these games' alphas. Everything has been done before and they all need up to date tweaks for that MMOrgasmic experience.

WoW and EVE set a common standard for next-gen mmorpgs. You either make them WoWfun fast simple with added humor or EVEserious slow paced with life-like economy and wars. MMOs are destined to be ruined from the beginning. Old school RPGing is slow with limited content and possibilities. Online play made it up to date and fast-paced. Perfect for the working audience. WoW did not ruin MMO and mmorpg. WoW is simplified mmorpg. It's easy and fun (if you don't pressure your ninny asses everytime you see a geared player--they wasted RL time getting pixelized rewards so quit being that jealous wife). WoW re-introduced mmorpg to the majority of the world slapping people with 10+mil subscribers. WoW's global popularity invited new companies to the MMO world making the genre a viable money-making venture. Companies now see MMOs as a possible 10million populated business. Introduce another successful mmorpg, in the market, like WoW and you got yourself a race to develop the best mmo/mmorpg in the world. You should be thanking WoW. It's because of it's mainstream popularity we now have better choices and actually getting quality MMOs. |

Because of the Mature Rating of this game 100k to 200k initial release If they play their cards right, 100k to 200+k 6months after release. Not much increase because the game, like all the newly released games, will have TONS AND TONS of bugs, almost non-existant content, severe server lags, and huge balance issues. In case you didn't know, WoW started like a fcking broken project with all the server resets and downtime before it became the behemoth it is now. If they have believers and fanbois up the wazoo like Blizzard, 200k to 400+k to steady subscription climb from fanboi hype after a year of fixes/upgrades. Freak scenes of subscription spikes will sometimes happen thanks to all the tired WoW/exWoW players looking for that next big mmo. Fanbois super hyping will result in an increase on blind subscription by new mmorpg players resulting in a sudden spike in the game's subscription numbers and then blowing it up even bigger by new subscripting gold farmer base. increase in subscription = increase in gold farmer base = successful business errrr mmorpg toooooooooooo bad System Requirements, for the game to be playable, is not practical for most gold farming businesses out there. (I still play WoW using my 2002 computer. I'm now assembling a new computer just for this game.) First 6months to year bug fixes and toned down graphic option for the masses will be the deciding factors if the company wants to increase subs IMO

I've played countless mmorpgs and WoW is the only game i return to. It's the game built to be played by everybody. Who wants a game that makes you think you're in the real world solving problems and doing chores. People say WoW is a grind. An mmorpg without grinding is a failed business. Graphics suck? Who wants to play a pretty game that shows you what normal RL beings are like? It's all about fun colors and effects. A game is always better with more color than RL-looking textures. I have yet to see a game with "amazing" graphics--they all look like artificial and yea they look P L A S T I C. It's like playing pretty barbie dolls. examples. EVE online is a great game with great graphics but you'll only enjoy the game if you like slow games with lots of maps and you want playing with old people who in RL failed at economics and politics. Even with a mature community you'll see the chat spammed with "10yr old" ethug talk. Surprise? Don't be, all games are infested with this. My first week in the game i got tells from companies telling me about their company structure from pirating ore to dominating the market... WTF is that? That is not how i envisioned fun in game. If i want to hear trade talk like that, i'll watch wallstreet shows. CityOfHeroes/Villains is a great game with superfun combat action. The problem, worst grind mmorpg in the market. People are so bored they do beauty..err costume contests for low level characters. Dark Age of Camelot and Anarchy Online are both fun and original but the games are so yesterday. I hope they update the game with new features. Star Wars and Lord of the Rings... ruined by poor interpretation. Why did people failed such great titles. Mmorpgs without PvP = fail nuff said Back to World of Warcraft You can WorldPvP/Arena/Battlegrounds/InstanceRaid all you want and not get bored. Join a guild and try out raiding. Fight solo and do battlegrounds/crafting to stay gear competitive. Patch 2.4 will make the game easier so you can get upgrades easier. Arena players have gear for PvP but they all suck individuall6y without their teammates. Easy, colorful, and fun. That is WoW and people think it's too childish. Video games are not made to be played by adults to imitate RL. All video games are made for fun and as a means of escape from RL. bad english signing out PS if you really want to waste your money paying for games that just give you more problems to solve, go ahead and continue believing your $$$ spent is worth it. |

since when are WoW epic raids easy farm? no challenge? how many can actually do Naxxramas? some guilds can't even beat onyxia/rag. if you have tried raiding, you'll know challenge never leaves the experience. it only takes one person to wipe the raid and ruin everything. gathering the right items/gear required to successfully do the raid is another challenge. still no challenge? how about getting 40people to come online? these are but few of the challenges... maybe you've mastered the game. i'm inviting you to go rediscover the real world. it's epic. |

nice editorial! 9/10 played and loved wow. quit a couple of months ago because of new job schedules. end game raids got boring too. all i can say WoW as a DUMB GAME: Good or Bad?
beginners, casuals, and some old mmo gamers don't like the 'PRO' gamers. why? all these 'PRO' gamers have epeens they need to stroke 24/7 and they think they can make a better game... which of course is not gonna happen because the only 2 thing they know are be uber at something someone else made and whine. If you get bored, chances are, you were not really playing the game. Let me guess. You read the forums and saw this massive thread by some geeks about how the people behind the game nerfed this certain class skill/item that according to the local megaGeek is VITAL for your class complete with lots of numbers and computations. if those people actually used their brains trying to figure out the cure for the "can-not-be-cured-illness-of-the-century", the world is gonna be a happier place to live in. too bad they're just immature fcks who do not give a rat's ass. they only care about being uber-- in the internet. hhahahhahah the internet... someone called you a noob and told you how to spec your talents. again, don't let others play your game. my alt rogue doesn't dual wield, wears a tuxedo in the battlegrounds, and i don't fckin care In PvP enabled MMOs like WoW, only pay attention to PvP vids and strats you can start with because PvP can be hella fun if you know what you're doing. gear? my alt rogue can kill naxx raider geared people with pieces of stormshroud and a few items not even epic class. it's all about timing and knowing what to do. start with the cookie cutter builds and then experiment experiment experiment! surprise them by using the most ignored but actually useful skill lol. uber geeks have uber gear because they deserve shit like that for wasting hours of their life trying to be in the guild to post ' WORLD FIRST! ' sad to realize i... was once one of these people..... 2years.... hahahaha don't be an ass and trash talk people who have lesser gear. shows how insecure you really are. being famous in a video game is not COOL. you play mostly with geeks. being the #1 geek isn't exactly the best thing in the world. VIDEO GAMES are not staple for human survival. DO NOT PLAY EVERYDAY! you will NOT DIE IF YOU STOPPED PLAYING for a day or two or even a week or month or a year! zomg basic. remember that girlfriend you really love but broke up with you because you cancelled dates after dates so you won't lose DKP? alt+F4, shutdown computer, grow up, get her back, and be a man. frustrated? nah. you just need rest. there's an open invitation to rediscover planet earth. abuse it! Abusing the planet earth rediscovery this is, Ken'Shao Lunarwurm[Earth&Beyond] signing out. |

guys i need help picking a new game. is RF online a good game to try out? is there a trial version of the game? im currently playing WoW and im gonna list all the things i like about it so i can compare. WoW graphics: cartoonish but works since i dont like barbie doll graphics like that of EQ2/GW. i dont know why people go for a realistic look... i play a game to get out of real world stress. WoW Role-Playing/PvP: i dont RP. i PvP alot but WoW broke it by not giving us better servers for World PvP and they introduced Battelgrinds. Point/Click Combat with a few timed button mashing. Duel/1v1 is awesome. Zerg PvP like most of the mmorpg PvP. Simple but not Dumb combat system. <3 WoW World: extremely detailed-- trees, towns, sky, different terrains..etc. 2 continents 2 loading screen. game world is just right. WoW Gameplay/Content: i can grind, quest, gank, and explore the world. there's crafting... or whatever they call it lol WoW player control: WASD or custom keybindings, you can jump off cliffs, or do whatever. WoW Community: it's a video game. video game = kids. i expect this from all mmorpgs. WoW Lag: ok. i hate the server bullsh!t. lag here. lag there. queue here. queue there. waste of time just trying to get in the game. sooo is RF online better or do i have to look for another game? or just go back to EVE online... NOTE: i used WoW since it's the current mmorpg i'm playing. fyi i'm a warcraft/starcraft fan but i'm not a World of Warcraft fanboi. Blizz broke the warcraft universe by making a stupid mmorpg.

this is just a compilation of my views for people who, like me, wants game diversity. let's admit it, the game rating here in mmorpg.com does not really justify the credibility of CoH as an overall great game. the game has good contents and the game also doesnt have enough content to please the paying crowd and that, in my opinion does not get 8 in my world. and dont tell me which game not to play... i play all game i want and if you feel hurt about some comments then i suggest not reading the comments posts. muahahahaha |

only newbs that played the demo will say EnB suck. Only the players that really spend time playing the game know the beauty of EnB. The EnB experience is not in it's first few levels, it's out there waiting to be discovered by a lucky pilot... | |
