5pm GMT apparently, although in my experience Funcom usually have GMT as actual GMT+1 or CET. Best guess then is either 4 or 5pm true GMT. |

Leave the guy alone, if you are unable to answer his questions then just don't post. I'm willing to wager that he can speak and write English a hell of a lot better than you lot can read and speak his native language. |

I find it interesting that you state AoC is running fine on a system running vista home basic as that OS is not even remotely aimed at gaming, especially high-end gaming. The official MS description of the capabilities of home basic are :
Windows Vista Home Basic is the edition of Windows for basic home computing needs. If you only want to use your PC for tasks like browsing the Internet, using e-mail, or viewing photos, then Windows Vista Home Basic may be the right edition for you. While it won't provide as many benefits as Windows Vista Home Premium, it will help you use your PC more easily and more safely than you could with Windows XP.
If home basic runs all modern games just fine then a lot of people are being misled by both microsoft and system builders everywhere in order to get them to buy home premium instead :) |

OP go to the game directory and find the file 'simple config', run it and select DX9, press ok and then try to run the client.

Actually I find the fanbois for AoC a lot worse than the haters. Even if someone genuinely posts a valid concern or complaint they are instantly jumped upon by the AoC is god crowd. The official forums are worse. The level of immaturity over there is appaling for what is supposed to be an M rated game. I just hope that it doesn't continue on into the in-game community. |

Go to the game folder and find a file called simple config. Run this and select DX9. Your client should now run fine. DX10 isn't a part of this client yet so trying to run it with DX10 produces the black screen and stuttering of the sound. DX10 should be in by launch day but no guarantee. |

I hope FC do manage to retain 250k subs after 3 months although it's by no means certain, I believe LotRo for example falls way short of that mark. |

Seriously, as long as the game is fun and runs ok who the hell cares? If there are some features that just don't make it in at launch but are added within the 1st six months or so better and more polished than would have been the case then fine. It isn't that long ago that many posts were asking FC to delay release for another six months. Alright so it isn't a full delay but those that wanted it have got a partial delay at any rate.
The main problem with things not being available at release is wether or not they will ever be available aka Horizons, which promised the earth and even had said features printed on the back of the retail box, features that never made it into the game despite many many assurances from the crooks .. err! devs in charge.
If something is worth doing it's worth doing well and if doing it well means we have to wait a bit no problem. Just as long as it does actually appear eventually. |

It's very simple. Ignore all obvious hater posts, ignore all obvious fanboi posts and somewhere in the middle you will find the truth. |

i would go for a complete new build if you can afford it, especially if you want to play the new crop of MMO's on decent settings. After you have bought a new cpu, mainboard and graphics card the rest is pretty cheap so you may as well have all new and up to date. |

Or in Vista press the windows key and R at the same time to open the run box, type dxdiag and hit ok. |

Asus RoG series motherboards are the best games boards on the market at the moment, from the 680 striker extreme, the 780 striker II formula ( northbridge runs very hot on this board ) and up to the 790 striker II extreme which would be a waste of money for the cards you have. The 680 would do you just fine, it's a very fast, reliable board. One word of advice if you go for one of these however is to ensure that you unplug the power cord and wait a minute for the capacitors to discharge before making any hardware changes, adding extra ram etc. as these boards are very sensitive to EM damage. Note that I am advising an Nvidia chipset here as you have two cards to link in SLi, if you only had one card I would be advising an Intel chipset.
As for cpu, any of the intel quad cores really, Q6700 and up.
oops, forgot the case: I have one of these http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=628084 but just black without the Nvidia logos. Excellent case but a bit on the pricey side. |
