Hi, I have an Asus G50 laptop I'm trying to install the preview weekend on.  Everytime I try to install it it says I don't have the proper directx yet I'm running dx10 on vista premium 64bit.

It then takes me to the microsoft webpage and asks me to download it.

I'm really confused and would love if you anyone had any advice to give.  Thanks in advance =)

This right here is out of control.  Get a life OP and wait for the thing to just release.  They owe you jack, if you don't like it dont buy it.  You get a free week to try it.  That is more then enough...

MODS... lock, delete, bury this thread.  Please...

This really gets me fired up, I can't believe this.  I do hope he gets done in for this one, this person has no right to be in a moderator seat.

You might call it a joke in bad taste but this was a direct insult aimed at a group of people based on sex.  He should be forced to make an official apology then canned and removed from the game.

Who'd have thought that Gaute would be right on the money with the state that AoC is in?

One year after release this game still kicking ass.

this not counting with anonymous  people and monster play. so the numbers should be near 5k people per server.

These numbers have absolutely NOTHING to do with server populations.... its really easy to just read the post before you go trotting this stuff all over the place.  These numbers are for the RING LORE SERVER EVENT.  They are the current counts from quest turn ins.

It unlocks the second part of Book 14 and the new area called the ring forges.  Seriously.....

Is this server populated enough to where I can find pickup groups on a whim around EST M-F 5-12pm?  And of course weekneds.

Or should I look somewhere else and consider a server transfer?

Whats the grouping situation like on Oasis?

Never played on Oasis myself so I cant comment on the grouping situation.  What I can say is that during prime time all servers report a medium to heavy load aside from the pvp and RMT servers.

The game is still very healthy.

I love the game, the new graphics are amazing and empyrean seems to be taking it to the next lvl but...

the jaggies are killing me man!

Is there any way to get AA to work in the game without forcing it with the driver?  When I do it that way it never seems to work.  If you have any suggestions would love to hear em!

Thanks in advance.

We all know that Funcom paid a lot money for a good review from various site, such as IGN, Gamespot etc. All cover up as advertising partners of cause. However here is a review from a site there don't was on Funcom payroll.

Verdict: Major Disappointment
In conclusion, Age of Conan has been the biggest disappointment of the year so far. Funcom knowingly hyped up the interest, tightly controlled any information from the closed beta and then went ahead and released a half-complete game, with many of the hyped features either missing or woefully incomplete. Poor customer support together with silly design and implementation errors make things only worse. Sure, they polished up the newbie zone pretty well, and many rookie reviewers happily took the bait and dished out big scores. Funcom must be commended for successful "bait and switch" as the early levels do not reflect what awaits in the later stages of the game.

Now if you fancy MMOs as playgrounds where half the fun is to freely gank people and find new ways to exploit the game, Age of Conan is perfect for that - in its short lifespan there has already been duping exploits, powerleveling loopholes and PvP exploits, and I'm sure there are plenty more for the evil gamers to find. For us less evil gamers, if you decided to jump in, you need inhuman amounts of patience and hope to go with the game box, as what you are getting is effectively a half-finished beta with a subscription fee. There is some potential for sure, but based on historical evidence with Anarchy Online, personally I'm not holding my breath. Simple bugs and missing things will most likely get fixed as the time goes by, but there are several flaws that run so deep that they are almost impossible to correct at this point.

The impressive sales figures of Age of Conan demonstrate the massive demand for a new top tier MMO. Current ones just can't push out new content rapidly enough to keep the players happy, so there is room for new contenders. It's a shame that those players who took the early positive comments based on early parts of the game will most likely end up disappointed - and Funcom will see the greatest monthly percentage drop in MMO subscriber numbers since… well, the launch of Anarchy Online, most likely.

Age of Conan isn't the worst attempt to compete with WoW in the recent years - that honor goes to Vanguard: Saga of Heroes - but still it's a failed attempt in many ways. It's not different enough to avoid unflattering direct comparisons, and when you scrape off the pretty visuals and put the actual meat of the gameplay next to Blizzard's juggernaut, Age of Conan falls on its face. In fact, it doesn't compare very favorably even when you size it against the actual gameplay offered by old timers like Dark Age of Camelot or Everquest 2. Shiny visuals and boobies are not enough to cover up the unfinished and poorly designed gameplay. Next contender, please.

This is such a bullshit review.  I could have at least took his point of view if not for the VG statement.  VG never tried to compete with wow, it was stated many times during development that it was going to cater to a crowd of 250k hardcore players.  VG fell on its face not because it tried to compete but because of piss poor management.  Today its a great game.

I understand AoC has its flaws but what game dosen't?  what I think most people are piss at is that during development everyone had these wet dreams of what is was "supposed" to be inside there heads.  This is why I don't ever follow development or hype myself up.  I play the game when it's released so I had to pre judgements.  I'm enjoying myself, and not on a 2k computer.

People just need to take a break with the friggin conspiracy theories.

I built a new computer last week, spurred in part because of Conan(and Mass Effect), but mostly because I desperately needed one. And with this game being 3 computers old for me, I thought I'd like to see it, finally, owned (Cysis is playable on very high on this thing...). Where it was very disappointing on my last computer; even though I built that a year after EQ2s release.

I was considering subscribing to the station pass for a month, so I could also try Vanguard(and maybe PotBS) again. But I noticed my EQ2 account says that it's "pending" until 08/01. Which, I'm thinking, means that the time they gave unsubscribed account holders to try the game again sticks around until it's used.

Does anyone know if that's the case?

Thanks.

Yes it seems as tho you have some free time waiting for you.  Every time I have seen that on my account page i was able to log into the game for a free month.  I do however believe that you should try Vanguard again :)

This is hands down the best mmo out to date.  Its launch was terribad to say the least but it has come a LONG way since then.

It offers some of the most in depth gameplay and makes you feel like your really a part of the world.  Crafting, Diplomacy, Adventuring, to just sailing the open seas this game is amazing.  If you can run it, play it.

I'm really interested in this game, kinda think i'd like it :)

This game has come a long way since launch and is ALOT better and offers a really unique experience.

To answer your question, the houses are completely seamless with the rest of the world just like in SWG.
