Well, I will say that I will visit at least once a week to read a review or two, see what contests are going or if new games are announced. There still aree many people here who are fair and have my respect even if I do not agree with them. But generally their are to many whiners and complainers in the forums. I look at their profiles and see most of them are under the age of 25. It's a sad commentary on those generations. Some people of those generations that is. I just wanted to leave on a fair note and not generalize everyone here.

....has become quite unenjoyable. I am game player, not a forum player. The latest generation of PC gamer, as is most often represented here, is rude, often crass and doesn't know the difference between contructive criticism and flaming. People have made this site not about games we love, but about games we hate and that we want others to hate. This is destructive and against the intent of what a site like this should be. Because of  this and the lack of good policing by site moderators  MMORPG.com is nothing like what it once was. I'll leave you all to your petty trolling and sniping... I'd rather be playing a game or checking out a site with a more mature and fair base of users. Adios.

Enjoy the game. :) Take your time and most importantly...stop reading AOC posts here. Oh, join a nice guild and get into what mmorpg's are really about, the social/group play.

Exactly. I've never been much of a racing fan but this game has be hooked. I play AOC with my guild but we use PT as our downtime game.  Just got to lvl 21...those licenses are challenging.

PT had just had some major upgrades and is better than ever.

Another example of why I come to MMORPG.com less and less often. Then again I'm busy actually playing games and not trying to be clever while being critical of them.

I thought those were really cool too. There is an elder one that gives a quest...you can stand really close and get a good look. And yes there are alot of really great looking mobs later.

I can appreciate the budget deal when building a system. I would have gone with a amd 5000 black edition for about $80. They overclock to around 3ghz with most any air cooler.  Knowing what your budget was would have helped. good luck !

Funcom better get off its ass and do something or next month when the charge backs from the credit cards start coming in they are going to see their income go into freefall.

FunCom is currently hireing many customer service people. I think they didnt anticipate the popularity of the game. People need to relax.

Tell that to people who paid for their game, and were then denied the ability to play it. And have no customer support to answer them or help them.

Out of the hundreds I know that bought the game and are playing, there is less than a handful that havent been able to. Thats a fact. So to anyone who would have people think the game is so riddled with problems as to be unplayable...you are liers.

Gotta love how when a good review that reveals the truth about AoC gets released all the fanbois ignore it, but when a player tries to express their own thoughts and opinions they get called a troll and to stop passing around lies when it was all truth.

This review is basically saying the exact same things as the so-called trolls have been talking about since launch...lol  After reading this I seriously have no idea how anyone could consider this worth playing, especially with all the "were working on" "It'll be patch in later" "updates are coming this summer" excuses!

This is a pathetic MMO once again by Funcom and I truly believe they have earned the #1 spot over SOE!

Who says its the truth? You havent even played the game, its not like you know first hand yet you continue to troll these boards?

When someone who likes the game tried to express opinions on things it gets beat down on. This review is posts by a mythic fanboy and has been quoted about 11 times now.

You want to believe the review fine. Believe me when I tell you to jump of a cliff you wont be hurt. Go for it, you and the disney sig wont be missed.

I count 5 people in this thread who have always had it in for AoC, some who havent even played the game others with 5 hrs under their belt...

Exactly...The people complaining are ones who havent been playing. Also I'll say that those rare individuals who stay up day after day fueled by RedBull and Hot Pockets just to hit max level first are a bad source for information. AOC is a fine game and is getting better by the day. Just look at the complainers...always the same people. Look at their post histories. Sad.

What can be said....the game comes in a highly compressed form on the disks. Go do something else while it installs. (IE) go upstairs and say hi to your mom.

A seamless world. Not only does it have a seamless world, it has a large seamless world. Running across a field actually feels like I am crossing a field. That island over there; I can go to it. That summit up there, if I cannot scale the mountain, I can fly up there on a flying mount. If I can see it basically, I can go there. This does not include the numerous dungeons that take you underground. After playing AoC, where 8-10 people were many in an instance, I have a new appreciation for open seamless worlds.

I stated in another thread where I was criticizing Vanguard and getting flack for it from some of the Vanguard fans, Vanguard is no longer in a beta state. It would be considered a releasable product as far as quality is concerned. It is safe for vets and newcomers alike to come play Vanguard.

Yes, chunks aside VG is a big open world. I played it for a year total time. But it's a dead and boring world....compared to say..AOC. BTW your statement concerning the number of people in an instance is dead wrong. There are people everywhere you go in the AOC instances. Not to mention most of the instances are huge. VG is a good game and had great potential. However AOC has so much more...the places seem alive and the combat is more interactive, it also shipped with more features than VG has even after being out as long as it has. I played VG for some time so obviously I liked the game...I would just say that AOC is better.

Nice screenshots. I often pause paying just to take a look out over the vistas or watch how the water reflects some ancient ruins. The game really is beautiful. I cant wait to get my new PC and really crank it up.

Reply to Fion: Exactly. I'm starting to believe that this is a site for people who's hobby it is to complain about games rather than play them. Needless to say I dont agree with most of the comments. The play areas have just enough people in them to make it seem lived in, but not crowded. I have also never run out of quests to do and quite honestly am having to leave many lines behind. (will pick them up with alts)  Oh well, each to their own.

Well, you certainly arent alone. I'm an avid MMO player and a Dad to three boys. It's not hard finding a little gaming time. One thing that helps me immeasurably is being in a guild that accommodates my kind of player. I'm with The Older Gamers, we have over 20,000 registered members all over the age of 25, many of whom are parents. We have guilds in every MMO and FPS game out there and people always understand when you go afk to change a diaper or some other family matter. Getting "family faction" is not only allowed but it's expected. I'll tell you though, the fun begins when you can play a game with your kid. (balanced of course by a great deal of reading books and playing ball outside) :) Good luck to you.

If one likes the game then play it. Nothing containing millions of lines of code is going to be perfect.

If the OP had actually spent time in either game he would know there is no comparison. Sadly if all one does is read this forum they would have a negative view about  life itself.

This can easily be taken care of. Email:    account-status@ageofconan.com

This was accidental I'm sure. Now that banks are working GL's wont have to haul around that kind of coin. Our gwahlur PVE guild just built it's teir one city tonight and i cant imagine how bad it would have been if the GL had been sacked by FC. Good luck to you, and i hope you know that they just want to protect the honest peo0ple from scammers and hackers.

Why are you hitting the start button? Try turning off  your screen saver and power saving options so it will run uninterupted. Also kill your antivirus.  These two things could be a problem.  While installing your computer will be very unresponsive as it's using all it's resources. I hope this helps. If not I would open up a problem ticket with funcom. Also scan the official forums, others may have had this problem. though I will say I havent heard of it from anyone I know. Good luck
