Cimmeria server RP-PvP server pop is healthy. I hear there are 2 other PvP servers that are popular too, as for PvE server I have yet to log on one with a healthy pop size. Now for demonologist, this has to be the most unpopular class in game atm, but from what i hear last patch was pretty good for them. |

I like that website too, strangely they have different PoV on lots of games than mmorpg.com.Feels more like a newspaper blog type than here. I'm still waiting on a website that have set technical points in their reviews, and a rating system that goes along with it. Also I'd like to see sub-categories as mmorpg.com seems to call mmo, anything that have a client/server scheme. |

And Yes, I really do beleive someone would go to all the trouble making that many user accounts to bump the number up, it seems to be the life's mission of a few rabid nutjobs around here to try in anyway possible to get some kind of public vindication of their personal emotional investment in this title. If you can take the time to copy and paste screenshot s and add it to your post to prove a point that almost everyone agree from the get go, well then, I guess you just proved people can go to great lenghts just to satisfy their egos. Don't get me wrong, this is not bad, the better you feel about yourself the better you are to people around you. As for the main topic, it all boils down to whether you like a game or not.And to jump on the bandwagon of love or hate is just the same, it's an EASY RIDE WITH THE FEELGOOD MOB! |

Have they release a resoneable ETA for Darkfall yet? If they keep delaying this game they gonna face another game engine update overhaul and delay the whole game again. |

I found a small problem, if you use overlay in a game that support SLi and you have that setting on, your fps will dip in the lows. With SLi I get solid 65-120fps, which can dip to 20-28fps if I press F12 and bring in the overlayed web browser.Othe other hand if I use say... EQ2 in-game web browser I have no issue at all, even in Vista Aero if SLi is on you get low performance with this browser whenever you bring it on-screen. Could someone test this with XP? |

New ideas, different concepts, anything out of the EQ/WoW mold will just die... It's sad, but the mmo community is just not ready or open minded. -Those mmo's need time need time to acheive maturity 18-30 months. -They need to cope with the low pop, service need to be built around low pop. -They need to build instances to receive a low population. -Those projects need to be maintaned by small developpers team in order to survive and develop community until anything else than elf, dwarf, is accepted as mmorpg setup. Those large corps are very short sighted, the mmo community exploded after WoW phenomenom in america, and it's gonnna take a while before those new players are ready to accept anything else than auto-attack and timer based button/skills... |

From what I understand at first they will only bring DX10 features a couple at a time not the whole thing at once, so yeah I'm pretty optimistic. This has to be the best course of action, one feature, small impact...optimize, then release a second feature, so on and so forth. Funcom is not the best, AoC has a history , but beyond your grief and anger one has to admit they are doing better, going in the right direction. |

Thank you for injecting the 12yo perspective to this thread. I am certain that all of us learned a lesson from your amazing insight. OT: Never experienced any SOE games or the problematic Mythic games - Only followed the LOTRO launch and am still subscribed. When I look at the various forums it seems pretty clear that at least one deciding factor is the human/social aspect: Smedly, Gaute Godager and even Erling Ellingsen types generate an amount of hate when it turns out their actions/claims does not hold water. The arrogance of Gaute Godager (wasting considerable development time sending dev. teams in different directions pursuing GG Ideas and more) clearly (retrospective) infested the whole company to a certain extent. One example being the way Lumache+housemate was treated for reporting the 'female attack speed problem'. At that time I lost most of my interest in the official forums and in the process I also formed a pretty negative opinion of a part of the 'community' - For some reason the partial post I quoted gave me a flashback. In short: Funcom was punished for the GG+EE factor, but now with (some) direction in development, Gaute out of the shop and Erling on extended vacation AoC does deserve a second fighting chance.
Erm 12 yo injection...How about a reply in term of William Claude Dukenfield, I really meant to use kid mmo trash talk to illustrate the point using cynicism, I didn't expect someone to read otherwise but if I had to redo my post I'd prolly add *cynicism* at the end to be sure.
Oh and btw I agree with the rest of your post. The person in charge of PR should have directed those players (GG and EE) a whole lot better.Or maybe GG just went over PR, history will tell. For my part I don't think any company could really say publicly:"we fucked up big time".

Probably a new kid in MMO, had he a little of experience he would remember the lag spike problems, raid server crash and speed hacks in WoW which lasted from launch till almost 18 months later. The duping, falling through map, hell I even remember rollback in mmo's because a patch was so out of place people losing days of play. I even remember Blizzard issuing free gameplay because a patch went wrong, gee people have very very short term memory or they're just too new to mmo and expect everything to run smooth like those 4-8 years old mmo. This has nothing to do with marketing lies, if at least you were complaining about that. And even then I'd be very surprised if you could do in a constructive manner. Someone lied to you, the best thing you could do is forgive them and help them correct their mistakes.Won't help if you shout, cry, enrage... Trust me most long time mmo players know better we decide what's best for us, you posting in every forums about how you hate this or that won't change anything, but if you could in a constructive manner add infos, trick, tips, it would help the community a whole lot more. |

Originally posted by lumache Yet, AoC still hovers between #35 - #40 on Xfire...and where is SWG? Vanguard? Matrix? People feel AoC at least has something to offer, and are willing to give the new director a chance...and this is something SOE cannot offer, and has stepped over their customers time and again... Don't get me wrong, Funcom screwed up...big time, but the recent moves to fix that issue (which was Gaute all along) made the difference... Look at Vanguard to see how a game can progress when you get rid of the disease in the first place...it at least is making headway...AoC deserves just as much of a chance...
Deserves? When they send me a mercedes maybe.... But I just dont see myself renewing when my account expires in december.... I gave them my money for 6months and was digusted enough to stop regularly playing august. But Ive put my money where my mouth is and until my money runs out, Ill keep running my mouth. Well if you get a mercedes for 6 months worth of subs you drop me a line please. This is just to show the imbalance between facts and emotions people put with mmo's.Your feelings are worth a mercedes... Cry more noob, I bet you're the kind of player that moan on forums when someone ninja loot your epic drop! |

Add to this the world economic situation, check Dow Jones, read about it and then check again, you'll see that tons of companies are in the same boat. No FUNCOM doesn't have less money, those stocks were issued almost 2 years ago, they already sold them and got their money. What it means though is that if they need more money, let's they want to start a new project and need financing, because of the low value right now each new stock issued would be so low they would have to issue a whole lot more and lose company control eventually. Another problem which is encounter would be a situation where the company would have to borrow from the bank(loan). The bank would loan the money accordingly to the company asset and stock value. So no, FUNCOM is not going under whether you like it or not, mmo is a slow pace industry and a company can feed from the same product for some time. We're not talking about movies, or your standard off the shelf videogame which produce 3 months revenues. If I were you I'd be much more worried about your next mortgage or creditcard, because those will suffer much more from world wide financial dip we see right now. GM stock went under $4.76 lowest in 50 years...Gee do you guys read antyhing else than mmo forums?
