Yes, above is a link

"The system to trigger a battle is fairly simple. Gangs find an area and commit crimes. An all-points bulletin (hence the name of the game) goes out to a squad, and they go straight into the action. The results can vary wildly from chases and shoot-outs to busts, arrests, and escapes. Since the game isn't an RPG, players can't level up, as there are no levels to speak of."

But personaly must add that I do not consider leveling up to be RPG, partail depending on the game yes, so who knows what more the game might bring since they been pretty silent on the PVE aspects of the game as far I could find.

The game might turn out pretty nice, but so far only thing I am thinking right now is: what's it doing in the development list?, okay it's a game in development, they do say it's a MMOG, but then many other games could be listed aswell if this game gets a listing among MMORPG games, I feel even MAG might get a spot in the list then since their server cap is 256 instead of the 100 server cap in APB.

Ah common now Suvroc don't let your SOE-hate blind you that much into thinking it will have RMT, as I am sure you also visit more website's then just this one and you already know for a fact that SOE is NOT going RMT with DC, there where a few 3rd party websites that posted false info about the game becoming RMT but that has been fixed by SOE by anounching that they will not go with RMT in DC.

Afcourse none of use can look into the future as things MIGHT change, but so far the game is without RMT and many people have been cuaght up with those 3rd party websites spreading those lies about the game, probebly for the same reason as others that dislike SOE and anything accociatted with it.

Anyway on Topic, I am into Superhero's, just not the once I have seen so far with games in this genre, as to me a game like CoH/V isn't the superhero type of MMORPG I would invisioned, and most likely both CO and DC will also NOT be what I expect from a superhero MMORPG.

Easy there Reklaw. Please don't assume that because I don't agree with what they did to SWG and their new micro-transacation business model that I'm an "SoE hater". I don't like their business ethics and speak up about that. If SoE did something great I'd applaud them for it just as much.

I honestly had no idea that it was already announced that it wasn't going to be RMT based. I even did a quick search before I posted to see if I could find any info to indicate otherwise - obviously it wasn't enough.

Interestingly you didn't mention anything about the TCG part of my post. Has there been an indictation from SoE whether there will be on or not?

Hey Suvroc, my sincere apology, it seems it was abit to early for me to respond this morning, as I found out I made a mistake, I was confused with The Agency, to that game they have stated (SOE) that it's not gonna be RMT, while numerous of 3rd-party website's/forums have said it will be RMT. Yeah yeah me was alittle blinded ....mehhhh...
But as we know with these game company's they can change whatever and however they have planned things.

Sorry I do not want to be a hero in a MMORPG, I do want action/conseqence into this genre, but a hero, sorry got tons and tons of games already out there that offer gamers that feeling. MMORPG should NOT be about YOU being a hero, should be about YOUR COMMUNITY making a difference in within the gameworld. Being a HERO is for single player games atleast for me it is.

So I'm a big fan of non-instanced player housing.  SWG player cities were awesome... but had definite drawbacks.

For you impatient folks I'll give my idea first, and my reasons for it after =)

The idea is to have a zone with a nice sized town... or maybe a couple spread throughout the world.... This town would be populated by NPC's and look just like any other NPC town.  All buildings in the town would be available for purchase by players.  Buildings would come with standard furnishings in place.. so lazy players houses would have basic decoration.  All items included with the building would be moveable/removable.  You could totally redecorate to suit your taste.... place weapons on walls and tables, display old sets of gear... etc.  Items for decorating homes would be mostly player crafted, with some rare drop items thrown in for good measure.  Once you purchase a building you can REPLACE that building with a different one... so you can upgrade or just change to any other available building that will fit on your "lot".  When you sell your home it remains the way you left it for the next player... who can then redecorate or replace the building as they choose.  I would also make the Vacant buildings in the main player cities purchaseable for premium prices.  If possible these buildings too could be upgraded to larger homes.. inns, whatever.  Later in the games life, instead of winding up with mostly a barren wasteland with a couple scattered homes, the buildings would return to being NPC owned.. and the town would remain complete and esthetically pleasing.

Why do it this way?  Player cities look like crap when they are sparsely populated.  Early in the games life and late in the games life player towns look totally unrealistic and terrible.  I still remember going back to SWG long after I quit and seeing what had become of our thriving player city....

Even at its peak the player city didnt have roads etc so it looked a bit incomplete.

What do you think?

Another nice idea, problem most people are forgetting is technology isn't quite there yet to create something like that, as you said you played SWG ( okay not the best example knowing their code from the start wasn't all that) but can you recall LAGG, what did you think happened with many people crossing player created cirty's/towns.....yup....LAGGG, do you remember when crafters of most city's wanted to create lots of factory's close to there homes, but atleast most I knew did pack-up most factory's and planted them further away from the main city as again LAGGG...

So regardless that I LOVE the idea you propose, many SWG VETS amnong myself have made topics over at the SWG forums back at pre-cu already hoping players could own a home in one of maincity's(ME/CC etc..), it's simply something not possible yet, I do however believe we will see such a game, but I ain't betting such a game will most likely starts development in about 3/5 years from now.

As for someone saying something about Simcity, keep in mind housing in a MMORPG have absolutely nothing in common with a game like SimCity (loved Simcity atleats till 4), and even if simcity was meant to be The Sims(really dislike that game) again a MMORPG housing has nothing to do with a game like The Sims atleats in my opinion.

I hope to god you guys aren't all just people from this project trying to push this game on us. Those types of tactics piss me off. If you want people to play your game thats fine, but we don't need a skit.

I'm a mod on the taleworlds site if that gives me any credibility. Basically, the team doesn't have the resources to have some sort of evil marketing campaign like that-- its only a small team of four or five guys and they're all focused on improving the game itself. Futhermore, even if they had the resources, there's no reason for them to even worry about marketing. The game's spread by word of mouth like wildfire.

Now, about your main concern, there was a player, not anyone related directly to the development, that posted a topic requesting for people to go off and essentially market the game for the devs. The idea got shot down pretty fast, as people know that'd just give the community a worse ( ;) ) reputation. I have a slight feeling that the post also got locked at some point because 1) it was a crap idea from the start, 2) quickly people realized the unsound nature of the suggestion and 3) flamers :O

The highlighted red part makes me really sad.(you are right people seem to be that way) but in my opinion gamers should not be that way, why can't people be GAMERS, you know people who enjoy games and help promote the game they enjoy, I never would have thought that especially in a game genre like MMORPG that is build by the community that such a idea get's shot down.

It really makes me lose faith in the online community as they seem to totally disregard this genre's strenght, which is getting weaker and weaker by the day.

And I am most amazed by people who consider it to be viral marketeers why can't people share a fun experiance with a game or even tell others to perhaps try a game without them working for the game company.

Anyway on topic, gonna try the game once more, have done so but spend to little time to truly experiance it.

Nice concept and well written.

Now to make this real, all you need is a time machine packed with atleast 100 of the best of the best among gamedevelopers to bring this script into the future to start developing this game. For now no way this can be developed......unfortunaly tech is far to limited.

Seriously, what would be cool is for people to read gamescripts, especially those for MMORPG's, when you read what most company plan, and when you look what actually can be done due to tech. and whatnots, so many things simply don't make it due to so many things that still hinder developers to actually create that game they had invisioned.

But nice read never the less

Leeroy Jenkins, sometimes mis-spelled Leroy Jenkins and often elongated with numerous additional letters, is an Internet phenomenon named for a character created by player Ben Schultz in Blizzard Entertainment's popular MMORPG, World of Warcraft. The character has become popular thanks to a machinima video of the game that circulated around the Internet. The phenomenon has since spread beyond the boundaries of the gaming community into other online and mainstream media.

The Internet phenomenon started with the release of a video clip online to the World of Warcraft forums. The video was released by the World of Warcraft Alliance player guild "Pals for Life" on the Laughing Skull PvP realm. It features a group of players discussing a detailed battle strategy while one of their number, Leeroy, is away from his computer. Their plan is ruined when Leeroy returns and, ignorant of the strategy, immediately charges headlong into battle shouting his own name as a battle cry. His companions rush to stop him, and his subsequent actions ruin the meticulous plan and the encounter ends in failure for the group. His response to the other players' reactions, "at least I have chicken", was also much parodied.

The August 2005 issue of PC Gamer UK featured an article on the video, titled "The Ballad of Leeroy Jenkins." According to the article, the video was designed as a negative commentary on the kind of "nerd-guilds" that meticulously and statistically plan out raids with all the seriousness of actual military tactics. Leeroy is in fact the hero of the piece, acting against the geekiness of his guild.[1]

Bethesda Softworks Announces Creation Kit and
First Downloadable Content for Fallout 3

Editor to be Available in December; Downloadable Content coming for January, February, and March

November 25, 2008 (ROCKVILLE, MD) – Bethesda Softworks®, a ZeniMax Media company, today announced plans to make both its editor and downloadable content available for its award-winning game, Fallout® 3 in the coming weeks. The official editor for Fallout 3, called the G.E.C.K. (Garden of Eden Creation Kit), will be available for free download in December and will allow Games for Windows® users to create and add their own content to the game. In addition, the first official downloadable content, Operation: Anchorage, will be available exclusively for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Games for Windows® in January, and more downloadable content coming in February and March. http://fallout.bethsoft.com/eng/home/pr-112508.php

"We've always seen the original world of Fallout 3 as a foundation for even more content. Some created by us, and a lot more created by users," said Todd Howard, game director for Fallout 3. "It's fun to create your own character, but it can be equally fun to create your own adventures. We can't wait to see what the community does with the G.E.C.K."

The release of the G.E.C.K. provides the community with tools that will allow players to expand the game any way they wish. Users can create, modify, and edit any data for use with Fallout 3, from building landscapes, towns, and locations to writing dialogue, creating characters, weapons, creatures, and more.

they're the type that would here the ideas of communism and go "Yeah! that sounds right!"

they dont stop to think that it doesnt work! lol

and anyway sandbox mmo doesnt even sound right

ask yourself this question, if you think sandbox mmo might be good, why would you have levels (which are necessary to be considered an MMO) in the first place if all you want to do is play a game where everything is flat and everyone is equal (except for skill)?  You might as well play an FPS game.. because an FPS game already provides that skill-based system (without the annoyance of some stupid levels)

no, in MMOs you have the significant difference from FPS games.. skill is not enough.  You have to be willing to invest the time into what you're going to do

cheer for the time-invest!

hehe you got a very limited view upon a sandbox, first of all sandbox is NOT only about skills, and what is really funny, sandbox games are definitly NOT flat and everyone equal that's in fact the current state of MMO ...looking at you WOW!!  Sorry it seems you have no clue what so ever what a sandbox is supose to be seeing what you just explained.

The only thing you sort of right about is that in this day and age sandbox will not work, sure it will work for us niche old school MMORPG players, but face it the majority of people into this genre don't want to put any effort into a MMORPG, as most from what I see ingame/forums/websites seem to be people that lack patients and or are very jalouze at people who might outlvl/skill them, and yeah a sandbox game doesn't hold your hand if done sort of correctly, and that is something that the majority of people simply do not want in a game regardless what genre, I mean else this genre of MMORPGames would have evolved into more then we had instead of only looking better but with far limited options for players to enjoy.

no, no cheats. and yes, all skills are up above 85 now and i don't think ive found half the books. everything from barter to speech to explosives.

bobblehead+skillbooks+comprehension perks= 60 for every skill possible, for someone that likes to explore and has to go to every burnt house, sewer, or landmark they see.. you will get alot of those(not all unless you look them up, which i haven't yet)

so thats 60 not even counting the 15 you start with, the extra for stats you increase when you make your char or find bobbleheads/quest perks(like the +1 luck lucky 8 ball), not counting tag skills, or w/e you get from the perks you pick.

i mean, i guess i could just not put any points in combat skills to make it hard but thats silly. you can't play a game and try to not be as strong as possible.

edit-just looked, i have 147 skillbooks, theres 324 supposedly so i don't have half yet. so thats 350 or so skill points left out there to find yet.

Well with a FPS game you are right, but I am feeling this game as a RPG and see no need to max combat skills as they are not needed to be maxed. And yes I chooce not to use all books even when found, especially if the books give me more combatskills/perks, as like you said the game is pretty easy.

But hey don't worry, I am a old school gamer and definitly found that my playstyle is VERY different compared to that of the majority of people playing games, as with games that are to easy I love to challenge myself and not take the best of the best of the game as that would make a game boring to me.

And here we have it yet another FREE ADD for a SOE game in a section that for the most part dislikes SOE, wierd......

Anyway this and several other topics amazes me to even consider the people in this section to ever have played pre-cu, honostly I can't imagine how some of these so called VETS have ever played SWG.

Now look at the fact, many VETS ask for more options within our gaming worlds, but then when a company some people dislike add things to the game all hell breaks lose as many seem unable to accept that certain games get new feature's, lets face it it really does NOT MATTER if SOE adds/removes/copy/s/is original cause many people on this board are to blinded to actually see.

Most important is that thanks to sections on forums like this be prepared to never see a sandbox type of game to atracts addult, atleast none AAA title's as poeple like OP and many more in this section will strongly continue to make sure no developer will ever consider makjing a game to catter to these so called VETS of MMORPG.

Besides as a VET even if I would go back into SWG I see no reason (since I am not into cardgames) to get into the trading cards, as a MMORPG player I am one without need/greed or jalouzy, do I care that certain cards will benifith those who buy those cards?, afcource not due to the fact I am a GAMER and not some wanna-be turd that dislike's others for having more.

Tranquility Lane with annoying Betty

Also enjoyed the same things others have already posted.

fulmanfu: may I ask, since you are right the game is pretty easy if you go into most combat oriented skill sets, have you considered challenging yourself more?, meaning instead of min/maxing combat oriented skills and perks, try using things you might never have thought of using. As far I am aware with the game it aint possible to max ALL skills, unless a person is using cheats, but then if a person is using cheats what would be the point of even playing a game?.......I did use a mostly combat approuch the first time when I finished the game due to playing mostly it's mainstory, but like you I felt it was pretty easy but knew the game had more to offer, lots more even thought the first time I did some hefty exploring, yet the second time I played I still kept discovering small area's/quest's/building I never saw the first time.

The second time I got into the game the only combat skill I progressed into 50 was melee, all other combat skills are 15, as I try to use a mininum of combat, but then I have to admit with a game like Fallout I am more into the RPG elements of the game, especially the second turn, as with these type of games finishing the mainstory, teaches me the basics of the game, that when I return I already know the basics and just can enjoy what the game has to offer without the need for that main storyline, the second time around will be my story in that world (sort of speak), kinda my way with most RPG's, as for me when I am in the mood for combat I honostly prefure something like CoD/WaW, the combat in Fallout 3 suites the game well, but it's the other things with the game that makes the game cool to me and very enjoyeble to play.
