I never liked Biowares games because every single one of them has had a crap combat system and AI. I hate how they are all zoned to fuck with loading screens every 5 paces. I wish Bethesda were making it because they do real time first person combat with seemless sandbox worlds.

Then please, by all means, go to Darkfall, Fallen Earth and/or Earthrise. Those games are probably much more to your liking.

Though then again, you have no idea what BioWare's game will be like, so I'll say what I have been saying in every second post I did in recent days: Wait till the 21st to start flaming/praising. It's only 6 days, sheesh.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is it that BioWare has done to earn such high praise, and also, what is this state of the art engine that i've read they are developing this new mysterious MMO on?

I can only speak for myself of course, but none of the BioWare games in the past have left me disappointed, in fact, all of them have lived up to my expectations and I enjoyed them immensely. Now I know an MMO is something different, but my experience so far with BioWare warrants some optimism, or at least, giving them the benefit of the doubt until the game actually releases.

But that's just speaking for me.

Oh, and this is the engine: Hero Engine

And this is why we should all just wait and see what happens on the 21st. People are already beating their heads. SOme claiming that it won't be an MMO, others claiming it will be the best MMO ever, still others already shouting fail.

Relax people. It's just 7 more days.

Then you can start the hype/flame-war.

thats just bad form, now to get the complete game..we gonna have to spend 3x$50?

Yeah...I read that in the report from BlizzCon and was thoroughly disgusted. I was actually looking forward to Starcraft 2 but now, i think i will pass.

Seriously, Blizzard of all companies. As if they don't have enough money already. -.-

Has nothing to do with respect, just logic. Training skills while your account is inactive just isn't logical. It's nice, and sometimes handy... but not logical.

Shhhh....logic won't do any good when people have been deprived of something they see as their god-given right. You know...receiving a service (aka, gaining skillpoints) without paying for it. Obviously, everyone has a god-given right to this.

PS: If you find sarcasm, you may keep it.

the fact is we wont know till they actually tell us what its going to be.

QFT. It's really getting out of hand, what with people predicting the doom or the success of an MMO that hasn't even been announced yet!!!

I'm as curious about this as the next guy, but predictions about doom and gloom should at least wait till SOMEbody has SOME idea of what the game will actually be.

You are easily stunned.  Get out more imo.

Is there a particular reason you think that I need to -get out more-?

Seriously. I mean...being stunned when someone plays on 11 Computers simultaneously and can afford to pay for all that and has an obvious obsession going...err. Well, if you think that's what everyone and their uncle is doing maybe -you- should get out more?

To add to my statement. If he's having fun, go for it. I couldn't begin to imagine doing this (not in the least because I don't earn that much money in my little student's job XD).

They are not agreeing with you they are saying that with C&C and FinalFansty that is a good example of milking, almost 20 C&C games/expansions in 10 years and just 1 Startcraft + 1 Expansion in 10 years from blizzard.

....did you....

Forget it.

I must have worded my thoughts wrong somehow. Blizzard is not known for innovation. They have their three games, and have done nothing beside those. Other companies have "milked" titles as well, yes. Never said they didn't. Some companies however have put out different titles as well. Blizzard hasn't. Understand what I mean now?

then our definition of "milking" differs... Milking to me, means a title that is reshaped and recycled over and over and over again in a short space of time but never realy getting any better... like C&C.

What I think your saying is Blizzard are playing it safe and sticking to what they know will sell. They do have a new MMO in the works, apparantly its a new IP.. time will tell.. blizzard are not ones to rush.

Must be that. I'm sorry for any misunderstanding I might have caused by this. I meant to say that they had their three titles and invested in nothing new, simply kept to what they had.

Anyway. Yeah. We'll have to see about the MMO.

Dunno...BioWare also denied that they would make MassEffect for PC...up until ONE day before MassEffect for PC was officially announced. So even IF they denied it...that wouldn#t be saying much.

GLAD TO SEE BLIZZARD IS MILKING THINGS, AMRIGHT?

And where, praytell, did I say that Blizzard is the only company doing it? Do you realize how much money Blizzard has made with their games? Do you realize that they are a company that could AFFORD to take a risk, but they have not?

Do you also realize they are not the ONLY company doing that? Did I ever imply that? No, I did not. So just leave it be.

Both are statements from the CEO of EA. So definitely not 2009, most likely 2011. And we know, MMOs come always later than predicted by the company

Curious...because I have this: Link 1

So that means EA has asked BioWare to push the thing back? Or they changed their internal target date by two years. Meh. I guess I'm gonna wait for 21st.

Could you bring up a link for that statement? Because I've heard various rumors and nothing officially stated......since there has been NO official information on this project.

Guess why we are all looking forward to the 21st?

Why are people still calling it KOTOR? Its called the Old Republic......

The Old Republic was only mentioned in a survey, so it could be just a code name. People know KOTOR, so they are more comfortable using it. Thats why people are still calling it KOTOR.

I'll agree witht he comfortable part. But it was not just mentiioned in a survey. Star Wars: The Old Republic is one of the names LucasArts recetly registered a Trademark for and many people believe this will be the title of the game.

However, as nothing has been officially announced, and everyone knows KOTOR, that's what is probably best to use in reference to the game for now.

I wouldn't doubt that BioWare's MMO will have some (slight) sandbox elements, but I don't see the game having a ton of them.  From what has been said by the folks at BioWare, the main focus of their MMO will be to deliver a strong story directed game, one that is similar to their single player MMOs.  Hopefully they include significan choices that have an impact on the outcome of the stories, which is one of the main draws to thir post Baldur's Gate games (every post Baldur's Gate game had some sort of moral choices that affected the outcome of the story, even if the KotOR choices were little more than agreeing with the developer's worldview gave you light side points, while disagreeing, even if the choice had no real evilness to it, gave dark side points).

I really hope that if choices are included, they are more involved than rude response is evil, nice respinse is good (or the Mass Effect allignment system).

I agree.  I don't think it will be a "sandbox".  I'm basically hoping for 3 things.  A template system, a good crafting system, and quests that are engaging.

QFT. Add to that a sort of alignment system. Choices that have effects on quests and/or your character.

Sound advice, but I'd be somewhat worried if people took to the streets in a blood-craze upon the games release, but in this day and age you never know.

Here's what BC's release did to people in Cologne at release. We don't have to assume that people get mad over something, we already know: Linkage

Sad world it is.

Oh yeah, the text in between reads: "At 0:20 Hours, the entrance door to the store was shattered." 2nd: "The words of the Market Manager led to silence" (obvious sarcasm here) and: "One of the lucky few who got the much craved product."

And that is one of the tame versions.
