Would be just awesome to play as a Bartender/Entertainer (like SWG entertainers) and medics etc. I can see very good things coming from this game if only the DEV team is willing to put at least some original (or even copy SWG if anything) stuff. WoW clone possibly? I hope to god not! Killing isn't satisfying anymore.

I want engineers that overall bring a huge boost to a ship giving the warp core overloads to escape ambushes etc, Medics that run from room to room healing people that are injured by exploding capacitors, plasma conduits, and what not. That is a true MMO, not everyone being kill kill kill repeat. ABSOLUTELY NO ORIGINALITY TO THAT or REPLAYABILITY.

1. Professional GMs/Mods

2. More upcoming patch info sooner

3. Don't listen to the Community but watch for improvements through there gameplay.

4. See 3.

5. See 3.

3 is the most important. Listening to the GAME community is just ASKING for trouble. Constant crying for nerfs and fixes that fit the 1 class and posters desire is not the way to balance or fix a game.

Re: July 26 Server Issues - Discussion Thread

*curls up with some diet Mountain Dew* good morning! Well...not so good. But I just wanted to thank you all for being patient through this. We won't rest until we fix things ^^

Not sure about you but I saw FC post every problem with the server posted within 15 mins.
Now when I say this I'm not just talking about FC... I'm talking about all MMOs and there respected developers. It takes time and a lot of work for ANY game especially MMOs to become polished and working.
FunCom is doing the best they can and they are doing a respectable job at it, so have Turbine. FunCom did not have the full amount of money to have the launch like LoTRO but that means very little when it comes to the game itself. No one at all should say FunCom, Turbine, Mythic, or Turbine are doing a horrible job and those who do, I want YOU to EXPLAIN IN DETAIL how to fix a said issue with the current MMOs... Yeah thats what I thought. SOE had the money to back SWG and they ruined it, FC did not have the money and had to release early to make some profit and if they didn't you would not see Age of Conan.
Now because so many bought Age of Conan you will see a continuation of development which will polish the game and have more content released. Oh and guess what, WAR will also be missing content at launch with its own bugs and problems! <Mod edit>

for the past days I've been stressing of what to pick, and I've had to go over my budget, because most of my things weren't compatible with each other, and now they are. (I think, I need some help with you guys telling me if everything is compatible with each other). So here it is:

Chassis - NZXT Apollo

Hard Drive - Seagate Barracuda 250GB

Graphics Card - XFX 9800 GTX Black Edition (I'm eventually gonna get another)

CD Drive - Sony NEC Optiarc

Power Supply - Corsair 750W

RAM - G.Skill 4GB (2x2GB)

Motherboard - XFX MB-N780-ISH9

Processor - Intel Q6600 Kentsfield

Operating System - Vista Home Premium 64-Bit

Fan - APEVIA 120mm Blue LED Fan

There we go, for a total of $1,196.40!!! It's gone up a lot since my first build (Or maybe just $200). But that's it. I reallllllllly don't want to change anything, but if I have to, I will. Please let me know if everything is compatible. Thanks guys so much. This might be the last post of mine for a while on this forum if this is it. Thanks again, I've really appreciated your help.

get a ATI 4850 or 4870. $230 for a 9800GTX is stupid now. RAM I would recommend Mushkin 4-5-4-12 800. OC's to 1066 at 5-5-5-12 with no volt change.

Crossfire and SLI are not worth it. 1/2 the games don't fully support and the ones that do support it don't utilize it enough. 9800GX2 right now, or if you can wait a little while, 4870x2 will be better.

If you look at pre-cu SWG and UO those were true MMO's. WoW, AoC, and now WAR are nothing different than FPS styled game. No selection but a weapon and defined path or open world to get to the same goal as everyone else.

UO and SWG for example had different goals. As a crafter you wanted to make money and make the best armor. As Bounty Hunter you hunted Jedi. But the point was you had different paths for different goals.

But enough about what MMO's should be or not. WAR is by no means a sandbox, it is just a game with different style of play and selection of classes.

No, it's pretty far from being a sandbox game. Anything that begins with specific classes automatically fails this test ;)

What a total load of BS.

And yet he is right. Sandbox means customizable.

Until developers understand that MMO's are meant to be customizable and not pre-defined garbage classes then this genre is doomed.

What if I just enjoy crafting and become a jack of all trades and supply my guild with rop notch gear and not be limited to 1 selection.

This is expected considering how long MMOs have been around and how much attention they get now. Best thing to do is look around for a few established guilds and check them as far the community goes. I'm on Tyranny and I got into a very decent guild and turned off province and ooc (unless you are LFG/M).

You can't change that in any game you can't control. WoW, UO, SWG, AoC, and even WAR are going to be like that. People feel like gods behind a computer monitor so don't go expecting a mature crowd for ANYTHING on a computer. These forums are a prime example.

Oh how I LOVE mmorpg.com forums!

Tis the reason why I only come to the forums once every 3 days to check out MMO news and scan the latest posts. 90% of MMORPG.com posters are trolling children, as for the rest they are all at work/playing a game and enjoying that said game.

Massive (it is, server population is as big as any other MMO out there)

Multiplayer (It certainly is)

Online (That too)

Role Playing Game (Character advancement, world, lore, the RPG element is there)

So yes, it is an MMORPG.

Cities with 40 men instances limits are NOT massive. Nor are the closed up worlds loaded with minute long loading screens.

The only massive in Conan are the loading screens and massive absence of promised materiel like the massive sieges.

Load times are almost absolutely minimal considering you will spend minimal 6 hours in each zone leveling (not including group instancing) and the zones being big and nicely done.

Note: Get the fuck out of Tortage before posting.

Not reading through pages of possible crap and lv1-20 people.

For those who have gone through Tortage and into Stygia etc, you would see that its not like GW. Just yesterday I did levels 22-29 with only zoning twice (group instance) and that was 5-6 hours of play while still interacting and playing with 80ish people in the same zone (grouping for quests so no waiting on spawns).

Oh and its also very worth it to group with people as there is no XP loss like WoW. When grouped with people questing and grinding becomes 2x productive a with 3, 3x etc.

If only people could understand the concept of zone mirroring (I'll give you a hint, the main reason is in my post).

Oh and player Housing, Keeps, and Shops wont be zoned/instanced.

My first character was, and is, a ranger who is now level 21 and out of Tortage.  My second character is a conqueror, just now level 10, and I'm finding it a bit harder with her.

For example, the quest where you have to go get the fish from the docks for the NPC (Iggath, or something) involves getting about a dozen level 10 pirates/thugs.  My ranger was able to sneak past most of them, but when he had to fight, I was able to take out 2-3 at a time at the same level with little problem.

My conqueror, however, can easily take out ONE pirate, but two pirates almost always kill her.  I don't understand why it's so much harder - especially because you would think that a conqueror would be superior in melee to a ranger.

I'm using the combos pretty well, and am armored up with both characters.  Anyone else having trouble with their conquerors?  Suggestions?

I don't think your positioning you're character good then and using the proper directional combos according to position. I can easily kill more on my 26 Conqueror than my Ranger but Ranger has more direct damage. Melee is weaker. Also its Lv10 so your health is a bit scaled down, at about 14+ you'll see yourself doing much better and at 16 (you get charge and more stuff) you will be awesome.

Will I be able to run it on high settings with this setup with a decent framerate?

Thanks.

Should be fine. I'm running 8800GT at 1920x1200 and get a solid 30+ FPS. You should see roughly 50~ give or take maybe more.

Barbarian are a bit squishy as they dish out crazy DPS, but only get light armor. I'd go for Conqueror, 2nd be Guardian.

They improved NPC loading so when you go near town, NPCs will actually load and you can see quests instead of it drawing while you are looking at them.

Itemization is rather nice in this game. You have 2 different stats to look for when comparing Mage/Priest even. I would also try to get to 50+ when the MUCH better gear drops. I can say for a fact (49 Ranger / 33 Guardian) loot and items pick up after 35-40.

Ranger wears medium armor right? Well I now have medium armor with Stam/Agility to it because Soldier classes have Heavy armor post-lv30 which opened much more room for Rangers, and Soldiers. I also see better gear for casters as my buddy plays a Demo (47).

No. Not everything has spectacular effects. PoM doesn't until you get some feat only skills. Though my PoM is only 20.
