As for my EA account you're all deserving but it'd wouldn't be fair for me to pick one and not the others. I'm going to let one of my coworkers play on it for the remaining two days.

Thank you for all the replies and the comments. It helped me make my many decisions. XD

2 years old is very old for computers. In 1 year it went from dual-core to quad core. Then even the move from SLI to dual PCBs etc. It might also be a very simple thing to fix which I know how to fix. Use Vsync instead which you set in your nVidia/ATI control panel.

But again we need hardware specs. Until you post them and want real help I think your just trolling.

YOU DID NOT PAY $5 FOR EARLY ACCESS. YOU PAID $5 FOR EXTRA 10 DAYS PLAYED IDIOTS. Stop whining if you did not think this would happen. They did a superb job so far as only delaying it 4 hours...DEAR GOD ITS THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT!

That's further than you will ever actually need to see in the game.

You can now set character rendering range to like 2000m or was it feet... I like to know where my enemy is at all times :D

Despite anything anyone says, do not overclock without reading a guide first or have a proper understanding of hardware voltages and clock speeds and understand the limits your hardware has. If you MUST, read a guide and pull up professional overclocks of the current hardware you have to try to copy those results but do this slowly and run a stresstest for stability.

Be careful of your FSB and RAM because increasing 1 thing might increase the other if the motherboard has a locked/fixed CPU:RAM ratio.

Do NOT overclock if you do not know anything about computer hardware or have the proper software to monitor, stress test for stability, and temps. Also NEVER overclock on stock cooling.

Just so everyone knows.. AA isn't worth the FPS hit when running 1024x768 resolutions because you will have hardly any notice of it. 1280x1024 might be the same result depending on monitor. AA should only be used at high res 1680x1080 and up.

Base my graphics around OpenGL so I wasn't chained to this POS OS thats going to get phased out by Windows 7 and make every DX10 videocard obsolete.

OS: Windows Vista Home Premium

I want to enjoy AoC to the max (playing in high settings :)  ) so what do you suggest i upgrade?

i thought of upgrading the ram, 2 to 4 gb and probably the video card to a Asus 9800 GTX 512 MB.  Sugestions??

Someone wanting to show off e-peen. 9800GTX is based of the 8800 and not worth it. If you upgrade to 4gb of RAM make sure they are the same modules as you can run into problems and slow timings mixing modules. Best sell off the 2gb and buy a 4gb kit.

Lol. Agreed and I'll be making a guild for Murderers. If anyone remembers classic UO where you killed enough civilians (non murderer/criminal) you can get a red name and be feared and hunted by groups!

I understand. But from my experience with Crysis and BioShock, Its almost impossible to notice because you just end up forgetting about them. AoC might bring proper DX10 quality to the table but so far, no DX10 game has.

17 or not lol. I've done my research and I've learned how to make DX9 look like 10, even though they are completely separate. Look at the links I posted and you'll see for yourself.

ROFLMAO, yes, you have solved a problem that no one else can, you have successfully imported DX10 (An instruction set specifically written for Windows Vista) into Windows XP. Im done trying to explain this to you. Keep believeing you're running in DX10, but on a serious note, stop spreading misinformation around the net.

S

By no means imported.. Only enabled features which were HIDDEN in DX9 to the point its the same as DX10.

Tell you both what, I'll modify the DX9 config files in AoC and send them to you so you will have DX10 on DX9? I'm not sure how FunCom would like that though and I might not want to try it just in case:/

http://mpan3.homeip.net/crysis Oh look at that. DX10 features on DX9 AGAIN. Want me to link you the pictures through forums?

"Yep, DX10 looks far better imo."

Mortemia, could you be bothered to read a sentence? Its called all you have to do is mod a text file which enables such effects in DX9. DX10 is just a gimmick.

Until I play a game (possibly even AoC) that has DX10 far superior to the point were I can't mod DX9 to look like DX10 then I put mustard in my eye. Deal?

Now if you could understand, not STANDARD DX9. You mod a couple .txt files within Crysis folder and bam, you have dx10 quality.

"which is superior" I lol'd. DX10 is by no means superior. I even modded BioShock using DX9 and it still looked nearly as good as DX10. I think DX10 so far only increases the shadow and particle quality at long ranges, which you wont even notice when in the heat of battle.

For some reason it still looks even you yourself think DX10 is superior. Maybe this is the perfect spot to show you the difference between DX9 and DX10 screenshot.

I would hardly call it superior since your sacrificing performance for things that are almost completely unnoticed.

DX10 is just another thing to push people to Vista. If you look at videos of Crysis for example showing DX9 and DX10 you can see a difference... now only if they didn't rig DX9 to look bad.

I myself changed 5 settings with DX9 and it looked near EXACT as DX10 on Vista but with better FPS it seems.

Sorry to say but this is an EXTREMELY innacurate post. There are MASSIVE differences between Crysis in DX9 and DX10.

http://webpages.charter.net/bliss/

Rollover the pics to see the DX10 versions.

I dont neccesarily like Vista but DX10 can do quite a few things that DX9 cant and there are no "settings" you can switch in Crysis to make DX9 look like DX10.

S

Unfortunately you are wrong. There are settings you can change. STANDARD High DX9 doesn't look as good but CUSTOM high DX9 looks just as good. http://www.moddb.com/games/183/crysis/addons/9312/crysis-dx10-graphic-features-under-dx9-minimod oh looky what i found.
