Might be time to upgrade friend. 2.6Ghz Single-Core is behind on most gaming. I have doubts of it being "playable" but it will run it. My friend has AMD 3200 single core, x800, 2gb ddr 350mhz and is able to run it on lowest at a playable level. |

Would be nice for more info. But many think XP does NOT support 4GB and only 3.25, it does long as the CPU your using has PAE (Intel CoreDuo, Core2Duo/Quad, and the later end of AMD Athlon64 X2.). It wont show the 4GB but it will still be using it. |

Sorry to say Grey... But it is somewhat dribble. AMD X2 should generally run the game fine as its more of a Video/RAM killer. For videocard, minimum I would suggest is 8800GT. If your wanting to spend $400~ on a card, then a 9800 or 9600x2 (Also buy a aftermarket cooler as all 45nm chips run EXTREMELY hot and WILL lower the cards lifetime). If you were in the OB then you could run the game fine with 2GB as it mainly instances for those levels and wasn't to hard on RAM but come lv30 with new non-instanced areas, 4GB would be recommended. Something I should point out though is that Windows XP 32/64 does support 4GB with PAE (Athlon X2 should have that support). As for the price, I just picked up 4GB Mushkin 4-4-4-12 800Mhz PC6400 for $80 and these babies can OC to 950Mhz stable! |

Indeed it is bugged. I could see Rogues stealth if they were close to a torch or in sunlight and follow them lol. |

I played a Assassin, Ranger, and Conqueror. I was able to kill Rangers and Assassins with ease as Conqueror, long as I wasn't pre-occupied by 2 other people. Rangers do need a nerf badly considering the damage output, snares and stealth but its not that game breaking. Might I also add that stealth wasn't fully utilized in this BETA. I'm sure they are going to have a work around even if it takes a week or 2 to properly even it out. |

Case is pretty easy. Thermaltake make some excellent cases (I have the Soprano).
So Basically you want to know what motherboard to buy? I would say ASUS P5N-D. My buddy got it and SLI's 2 8800GTs and works nicely. If you have a AMD CPU, I would buy a E8400 along with it since the board is INTEL/nVidia. |

Considering the stuff they have said about debugger and such I'm slightly concerned but ALL questions can be solved with a trial IMHO. |

"I play LOTRO on Vista Ultimate 64bit flawlessly, and besides the horrible condition AoC is in...Vista ran it fine except for the constant problems the game is plagued with! Not sure how to help ya with that, but if you were playing LOTRO in the past on an 8800 series nVidia card...they had issues for a few weeks and the drivers were causing the game to crash alot...happened to me but its fixed now."
I'll tell you what, tomorrow I'll give a review of Vista Ultimate 32 / 64 AND XP 32 / 64. I can imagine AoC running 40% better on XP. I have dual-boot 32bit and then I have a media center with 64bit (AMD 5400+, 8600GT 512, 2GB DDR2 800 4-4-4-15) |

2 other ways to improve performance: 1. Have all your games on a separate HD from your OS. 2. Still need a 2nd HD for this one but if your games are on the same HD as the OS, then switch the Cache access to the 2nd HD without the OS/Games. |

Bench marks prove it. I also proved it myself by dual-booting it. 6~ fps drop in Crysis. 6 fps in Crysis is huge when you run it at only 35fps in XP, 28 in Vista (DX9 Maximum settings). E8400, 8800GT, 2GB DDR2 800 4-4-4-12. And yes Vista plays all games fine but also causes more problems because of the feeding off GPU and considering AoCs requirements I could for-see a hefty difference between the 2, especially for the lower end systems. Vista has been proven to just look pretty and nothing else lol. |

And I should also mention Vista is a horrible OS that will take ALL gaming performance down and will also cause more bugs considering it feeds off the GPU for desktop apps (stupid Microsoft). I feel sorry for anyone that didn't get XP option or paid more than $20 for Vista. |

Anti-viruses are 90% not needed... I've built and learned my own way around computers since I was 10 (Now 18). All you need is Firefox2 or 3 and NoScript, have cookies cleared every time you close Firefox and your pretty much set. And if you can't learn to use NoScript which a monkey could learn... Then I suggest you go buy a PS3. It has web browser and usb keyboard/mouse works with it. Honestly though... Virus? I lol'd. Sorry forgot to say, Turn down/off Viewing Distance and Environmental Shadows (If possible. Haven't tried AoC yet) |

"Free" open beta is kind of like private WoW servers... You join one of those and its 90% idiots but retail WoW is MUCH better. |

I'm honestly getting sick of seeing these threads and people saying its bad in BETA. Before you say anything about a game that harsh while in BETA and within a months release, you should have your mouth either stapled shut or your keyboard broken. Possibly both. BETA is the keyword to look at for all you "jump to conclusion no time to let the game mature kthxbai going to WAR" kids. I bet WAR will have the near same reaction of people saying "OH ITS GOING TO SUCK BECAUSE ITS BETA AND THE FULL RELEASE WILL BE EXACTLY THE SAME!" |

I think both will do just fine. WAR I think is going to be another WoW. Easy to play and easy to level with nothing really new except lore (Which I imagine wont last long either... about the same as WoWs). Also considering its EA I can think of the game turning into a UO, maybe SWG. AoC on the other hand made by Funcom will have more survivability I would think and has more lore to expand on and a bunch of new technologies from what I have seen. I don't want to play a game where a 12 year old can auto-attack me to death because he doesn't go to school and plays WAR all day. AoC fixes that problem for me. |

8800GT and E8400. If your on more of a budget then get a E6750 ($160~ where I am). Also get a P35/ICH9 chipset. I have been a supporter of AMD for some time now but they are just sucking now (I replaced my 5200 for a E8400 2 weeks ago)... As for ATI I'm not sure what to suspect from them but NVidia is a better choice for price:performance ratio. Also getting a 10Krpm drive wont have effects on FPS, just load times. Another thing I would recommend is getting 2GBs of RAM and not 4 and use the extra cash for a better CPU (E8300/E8400). On further note, 5200+ will bottleneck your system if you try to run AoC on max settings. Forgot to add, get a good motherboard! The 1 thing you shouldn't cheap out on. Good chipset = longer life-time. |

I personally enjoy PC more as it offers me more choices in games and in terms of games I still like it as it offers MMOs and FPS style are actually playable. |
