Only time will tell though because I guess there is a lot of room for speculation with the small amount of information that is currently available. I just hope they keep some of the sandbox elements like player housing and take it easy on instances. We'll see though... |

I have been waiting for this game to announce for a long time, but after reading this article I am a bit discouraged. There will be a huge jedi/sith population no matter what. Even if someone makes a main as something else they will have a jedi/sith alt I guarentee you! Now this isn't necessarily a problem as long as the game is created properly to handle a large population. This is done by giving the player a lot of manipulation power in creating their character. This is not typically possible in a level-based game though as they will follow the WoW or WAR format oppose to the UO format. Of course I want to be a jedi, who doesn't want to make one?! But I don't want to run around with a ton of characters that mirror me:( Another observation that has me concerned is his remarks regarding combat in MMOs. Combat in MMOs is not "caveman" style beating eachother over the head with a weapon. As a WAR player I can confirm that their combat system is fairly in-depth and strategic based for any MMO I've played. If SWTOR trys to re-invent MMO combat, as AoC did, they will likely fall flat on their face like AoC. Yes combat matters, but so many other things matter so much more than combat in MMOs. Lets face it if we wanted amazing combat we wouldn't be playing MMOs--we'd play console games where the combat is uncomparable to PC MMOs. Instead, they need to be focusing on the economy, housing(?), crafting, population, class balance, risk/reward, travel, etc... I'm just scared at this point that they have taken the wrong route on this game already i.e. I want to hear about a skill-based, not level-based system that does allow player housing and I am starting to think that they are going to try to copy a WoW format:( However, I love Star Wars and am willing to give any game a chance that has the title Star Wars! |

1. Player Housing 2. Skill system, no levels. 3. Vast open world with a good planet travel system. 4. Very few instances, similar to that of WAR. 5. No recipe crafting, as well as many different forms of crafting. If you can wear it--another player can make it, for the most part anyway. I am getting excited just thinking about it, but I find it hard to beleive that they won't follow the WoW method. Which isn't necessarily wrong if it's done the right way. I have a lot of faith in Bioware. |

It is difficult to imagine SWG still maintaining a pulse after the release of Bioware's highly anticipated Star Wars MMO. SWG was once a great game, but it is nothing special anymore. I think SWG will be able to die off respectfully, knowing that they once had one of the best MMOs ever. Bioware is a great company for gaming, but I question their MMORPG creditionals. Only time will tell, but I'm hoping they take all the good characteristics from SWG because there is a lot of good material that they need to consider as well as a lot of mistakes and pitfalls that they need to avoid. Either way, as a huge SW fan, I will be atleast doing my typical 3 month test upon release:) |

Hands down, Ultima Online. Only during the time frame of 1997-2001 ish then it started to get rediculous. WoW was good for about 3 months then I figured out that the only reason people play is to get uber gear and that the gear was extremely difficult and rare to obtain....lame. I am now playing WAR and loving it. Of course it has some gear-based tendencies like WoW, but it also has some good RvR which allows for guild and server pride and ownership of keeps which is pretty cool. I imagine when the Knights of the Old Republic game is released that will be my new favorite. Possibly Darkfall if it ever releases and isn't crap. |

I highly recommend making the jump to Warhammer. It has all the great characteristics that DAoC has, only impoved. WAR is still suffering from some performance issues in terms of RvR, but that is something that I feel Mythic is making a high priority, as WAR will live or die with it's end game RvR. The rest of the game is brillant and has a lot of fun for those who like the team aspect of MMOs. |

I really enjoy the scenerios, I think they are a blast. Therefore, I hope they don't "boost" open RvR to the point that no one Qs up for scenerios anymore. I do agree that they need to have something going on for open RvR to happen. Keep sieges are pretty fun, except for it gets so laggy that it becomes a slide show sometimes. Other than keep sieges and the minor BOs there is really no point to out in the middle of a field and fight with people. If they improve on the keep sieges then we will have ourselves quite the game. I am very happy with all the other aspects of the game at this point, but I would like to see better performance on open RvR regarding keep sieges. Also, I don't like how you can do a large keep siege and only one person actually gets the gold bag reward. What a rip, to me, this seems like something that would appeal to the gear-based lovin WoW players. In WAR it should be about war and not uber rare 0.01% chance drops. Mythic, you will boost RvR like crazy if you make it worth it to actually do it! |

Not an issue. Warhammer is already extremely popular, record setting numbers in fact. I know that the population that is going to to increase a great deal within the first year of its' release, as it does with every big MMO. It will be a very good thing that they premptively put in these extra servers, they will fill up easily. And those bonuses are no joke, they REALLY help new players level. |

I don't recommend following the OP biased opinion. I will admit that Destruction has an advantage currently due to magus abilities that allow moveable aoe as well as other advantages here and there that we do not seem to have on Order. However, I have been having an absolute blast so far playing Order on Azazel. I feel it is pretty even so far as the push to take over eachother's city has been back and forth, hell we have probably been winning. I think the game will go through some growing pains dealing with the large scale RvR, but nothing that shouldn't be expected or that will hurt the game. It is a good game right now that is setting up to be a great game. My advice is that if you are on a server that is getting rolled then you need to shop for a good organized guild to make a difference in your realm. This game is very much based on guilds and so if you try to solo everything you will not have much fun at the end of the game. |

Well I don't see WARs popularity going down at all. Your asceration is shaky and unreliable at best. However, I will state that lag in the large scale RvR battles has been a serious issue that Mythic needs to address. There are a number of other performance issues that need addressed as well such as itemization, mail system, and balance issues, however, lag is the biggest issue for large scale RvR that if not addressed may kill WAR. |

Very well written. I think that performance and itemization are my biggest issues personally. I am level 32 and I am getting closer to the large scale keep sieges and one of my only viable forms of renown and I don't want to play with a slide show. However, I don't see Mythic ever fixing this, I think it is something that we will have to always deal with and it will result in people just not playing the game once Mythic gets a reasonable amount of time to do something and then don't perform. Anything to reduce the lag at this point in the keeps would make the game 50% more fun for me. I don't want to have to do only scenes to get renown that will be lame. |

As a veteran UO player and a current WAR player I am hoping like hell that history doesn't repeat itself. Peronally though, I don't see it being an issue. |

/sigh Be patient, level your character and you'll find, as did everyone else, that you will get your abilities that will mold you into the "healer" you want to be. You can't have it all at the beginning of the game. At level 40 I'm sure you'll be happy with your healing abilities. |

Well once beta is actually started then a lot more faith will be put in DFO as far as it actually releasing. However, beta is just beta. I want to actually see the game launch, successfully. Furthermore, I'd like to see it done by Q2 2009. That may be unrealistic considering how slow the progress has been up to this date. Darkfall has a lot of great concepts that I've been waiting for such as the skill-based instead of this dumb level base crap that is always coming out and of course the sandbox feature:) but I need to see it actually function well with thousands of people logged in at the same time. Only time will tell. |

I noticed one thing while playing SWG regarding names. The majority of characters have good names that one could imagine in the SW universe. I've never been big into the RP servers of MMOs, but I'm starting to get sick and tired of all the foolish names I see from MMOs. I am currently playing WAR and I'm really enjoying it, however, I have noticed an excessive amount of foolish names. Names that don't even come close to fitting any lore that has ever existed in any game anywhere. You see names like"Bigmac" "Slaphappy" "Killbill" "iamnotatank" "Timmythetooth"...and it goes on and on. I love WAR but the names are rediculous, I don't think it says much about the community sometimes when you see those silly names. However, I always noticed that SWG didn't have this problem as much as other MMORPGs. Any suggestions as to why this is? Have you noticed this too? |

I'm in too, but I've been so busy with Warhammer I'm wondering how much time I'll actually give SW in beta. To tell the truth I'm not even a fan, I just won it on this site and figured it would be worth doing the beta tests. |

I'm a Witch Hunter. I'm trying to figure out the resistences and which one is the most valuable to a Witch Hunter. Corporal, Spirt, and Elemental resistences confuse me. Can anyone shed any light on which is best for a PvP orientated WH or have any other advice concerning resistences. Thanks. |

Sure there are similarties, however I still believe that both games offer a different option to players that desire a different style of MMOs. WAR is a lot more RvR, PvP based, obviously. WAR is not as gear based due to the other options, keep ownership, renown rank, guild rank, city unlocks, city ranks ect. WoW is going to be more of the raid style of game that many players desire. To each their own. For those that don't have 8 hours in a row to raid then I feel WAR may be a little less time demanding. |

I'd say it's a bad time based on the popularity of WAR. A lot of DAoC players have already made a jump to WAR. Others are waiting to see if WAR answers on their promises, so far they have. I would suspect that WAR will give WoW a run in popularity and therefore DAoC will thin out quite a bit. However, DAoC is still a great game, just the numbers may be lacking. |
