Not to be rude, but you guys would be better off in Terran Death Company. Red Dawn has some pretty underhanded tactics.

I don't care what any of you say, I've seen immature fools of all ages in all games. And a lot of them. Though, I have to say that most of you have seen nothing. Play Runescape for a few days. You will come back to your EQ2 and WoW. Trust me. And you won't be so pissed to hear stupid crap. Infact, you'll be glad to hear that familiar stuff. Because what you see in Runescape will show you what a REAL community of jackasses is.

Just one more thing: be prepared... I'd hate to see you guys turn into one of them Runescapers. They're like zombies or something...

Guild Wars is a good game. Runescape was, but Jagex got a little money hungry and more idiots came in and flooded the game.. not a pretty picture. I was there right from the start till a few months ago... just got tired of the lame additions (ie countless quests)

WoW is gonna be a totally different experience for you if you havn't played other MMORPGS. The leveling is much faster than Runescape (as long as you do the quests... farming monsters won't do much for you) and the game isn't instanced like Guild Wars (you know, when you leave town in guild wars it puts you in your own little area? Not so in WoW) And if you were a crafter, you're going to like this game a lot more than RS.

All I have to say is it's an improvement on what you've played so far (and in my opinion, the best MMORPG so far... but it's all personal taste) Just a suggestion though: stay away from Sony Online Entertainment games (SOE for short). SOE is notorious for their boneheaded ideas. Say it with me now: I will stay away from Everquest and Star Wars Galaxies. They are the plague...

Planetside was my all-time favourite game, and I still suffer withdrawal. I still have all those "Remember when...?" moments in my head. But things have changed. Lowering the damage anti-vehicle weps do (especially deci dmg vs. maxes) took a chunk out of the infantry part of the game, but the BFRs really did it for me. Frankly though, I'm not surprised. *cough* SOE *cough*

I don't think there's ever going to be another game as awesome as Planetside was...

My brother started as a scrapper (don't remember setup) and I started as an Assault/Dev blaster. Both of us settled in pretty quick, and my bro usually takes a bit longer to get used to it.

Just try to go with your playing style from other games.

Played: PlanetSide, Dark Age of Camelot, Ultima Online, Star Wars Galaxies, Runescape, Project Entropia (crap)
Tested: Planetside, City of Heroes, Runescape

The soloing has gone up noticeably, but being in a squad helps keep you organized. All those solo players tend to get in the way. But I can see why they'd do it. In the time it would take me to get to BR 11 solo, I get to BR 5 in a squad. So it's a pretty big difference.

Yeah, a lot of stuff has changed since you've been around though. Platoons are in, recertification (2 or 3 vehicles are usually under one cert now. Example: ATV cert gives you basilisk and the stealth 4-wheel) TR got screwed (When I stll played, I was NC and I'm telling you, the TR were barely keeping it together)

etc, etc... read the update part of the Planetside site, it'll tell you what's up.

Yeah, Novalogic did the Commanche series and Delta Force if I'm not mistaken.

Personally, though Joint Operations is great, I would still prefer Planetside. Joint Ops has the same feeling as one of those massive fights over a base in Planetside. But that's just one base. I like Planetside because there's never just one fight going on

For your first few levels, you're only cannon fodder because you're still learning. The levels have no effect on your strength or skills, only how versatile you are.

Anyway, this is a very dynamic game. Everything is open to change, and you must learn how to adapt fast. Play around with the different empires until you find one that clicks with your playing style. That's the best advice I can give you.

You DO NOT need a credit card for the 7-day trial.

In my experience, the TR weapons are good, but take some getting used to (they don't quite fit my playing style) The TR can really do some damage when they get organized, but like someone else said, that doesn't happen. Ever.

Us NC fear those bloody Prowlers. Even with a moderately effective crew they rip us apart since our rocket launcher (Phoenix) blows. However, the TR really have to learn to stop trying to charge the NC. TR guns put out a bit more lead, but NC guns do more damage through and through.

I first tried it in beta. Maybe because I joined NC on Emerald (who have always done really well), but I don't know. I really love the game, but I just don't want to pay 15 bucks a month, when there are other MMO games out there which are just as good and cost less. Granted, they are RPGs, but that shouldn't make a difference.

Still, this game is surprising coming from the makers of Evercrap *shudders*

Yeah, the Lasher stats jacked up, and the NC has had to fight harder to make up for it. But we beat back the Vanu to one continent (We locked the other 9!) on Emerald a few days ago. We showed those punks their Lasher isn't going to save them. You know, Lashers can only do so much against Vanguards

If you've ever found yourself playing an FPS and wishing the battles were larger, get Planetside and get in a good outfit. (If you join NC on Emerald, join Global Army!) Battles this big just never happen in other games, and the fighting is fast and intense. You can pretty much do whatever you like. You can be a medic or engy, fixing people and armor up, or a fighter pilot, or drive an ATV with chainguns attached to the side (yes, it's awesome). The three empires are diverse enough to make battles even more interesting, as the TR pump out their ammo faster then you can say "Damn", the NC put the biggest damn round they can find into your body, and the VS use cool lasers and hovertanks (which we NC players love hacking and getting our hands on. YOUR MAGRIDER IS MINE!)

Of course, if you don't like an FPS that requires a little bit of strategy, you might as well forget about this game. It's not for you. This is more of a Starsiege: Tribes game than an Unreal Tournament 2003

I'm going to have to agree with these guys. Though sci-fi games aren't quite me, I did like the playerbase in AO. I myself prefer DAOC. In both games though, people will talk to you and help you without so much as running into them. It's a really nice environment if you stay away from the powergaming.
