Maybe because it does not effect you direclty,I live in Holland and play with guys from the UK,that is no longer possible, also there are only 9 countries that will play on "multi language"servers (2 servers)you tell me how you see that working out and just how busy those servers will be?

I am sorry but I was a long time follower of TCoS but this release has to go down as the worst ever.

Before the "you said you wouldnt play the game" posts start, yes I wont play the game anymore but as a long time follower and poster I am entiled to my point of view.

When the release date was announced I was very excited to start to play with friends and guild mates(having pushed it down there throats for a very long time).

Then came the IP blocking, this was basically the end for me anyway to be honest, but I thought I will finish what I started and continued to post on this and other forums the info I knew.

Now lets have a look what has happened in the last 2 weeks.

-people still posting the IP blocking is not official and nothing is certain yet.

answer -it is 100% with the ip blocking but the mods/devs havent made a more direct post about it just in locked threads or older threads, nothing in big letters in a sticky,I guess they dont want this to be the highlight of the release.

-the required specs.

answer-again it is known but the devs havent made a post about this and stickied it...not that I could see anyway.

-release for the mindscape community was for the 28th Nov,it didnt happen as they didnt publish/deliver the boxes on time so it was delayed at least a week.

answer-come on that cant be sorted out?I mean if the company got blown up I could understand but they never made or delivered them?

now with the very little info the devs/mods are giving and the forums will be IP blocked later this week this has been a nightmare of a release, for a game I followed so long a feel sorry for some of the mods there as I am sure they are not getting the info they need.

With all the IP blocking/release all to hell/forum blocking/no information...this game is already in trouble.

My thoughts are a year from now this game is already dead or Acclaim have control of it and it will be f2p with changes made to enable cash shops.

I just wonder if this was Acclaims plans from the start.

Well these guys really dont do themselves any favours at all over at tcos,I cant see any official post by the devs/mods over there, maybe I missed it but for somthing like this it should be right on the forum page in a sticky....anyway this is from a poster that seen it on the box...

System requirements:

Windows XP / Vista
Pentium 4 2,0 GHz
1 GB-Ram
12 GB Free HD space
Graphics 128 mb ram and direct x 9.0 c (Shader Model 2.0)

Recommended:

Windows XP/Vista
Pentium 4 2,6 GHz
2 GB RAM
12 GB Free HD Space
DirectX 9.0c (Shader Model 2.0) Graphics card with 256 MB ram

I would say even the recommended would be cutting it pretty thin if you want to run it at a decent setting with decent fps but this what they are saying it would seem.

South Africa has not got a publisher so unfortuantly you wont be able to play,at least not at this time unless you go around the IP blocking, the IP blocking has been made official with certain European countries being covered by Mindscape/Frogster and Acclaim taking some of the other European countries and NA/Australia/NZ.

Seems some people are still in denial.

The info, however sketchy at best is on the official tcos forum...well until the 5th of Decemeber when that too will be IP blocked.

I met him once at a Blizzcon. He certainly was nothing like the image I'd conjured up.

ugh, maybe im old then, cause I remember when Rick Astley was the big hit, just like Minoque, was it Stock, Aitkin and Waterman?

Lol I remember when I was alot younger and my older brother bought the Rick Astley album, worrying times,I would always hide it when my mates came around to play the Atari 2600 incase they thought it was mine :)

Well it has been delayed for around a year now(even longer)but they havent done themselves any favours, take away the IP blocking,Mindscape didnt produce/deliver the game on time to the retailers so the game had to be delayed in those countries for another week,2 days before the release, now there are reports from players in Germany etc that there game still isnt working(they released there today).

I had alot of faith in this game but in the last 2 weeks they shot themselves in the foot....and then the other foot.

Now the forums will also be IP blocked it is just going from bad to down right insane.

My thoughts are(now these are just my thoughts)this game this time next year will either be dead in the water or Acclaim will have total power over it and free to play with some changes to make room for items shops.

 Yeah, SWTOR.

We all knew it was coming, but that didn't stop it from hitting the gaming world like an ICBM.

This is why I do NOT believe SW-TOR is the big story. EVERYONE knew. Why does that equal big news.

Tabula Rasa closing is my pick. We did not assume it would close THAT soon. Especially with so much money tied up into the game, and the constant "No, we are not closing" news press releases.

Duh!

Hehe when you say "it would close THAT soon" so you knew it would close maybe alittle sooner than you thought so why is that different from knowing about the Star Wars title but when you got the news it was big news?

Yep you are right the skilldeck does take some skill to set out,I wrote a short beta review...

http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/212497

In pve you will use the movements to dodge attacks but in pvp it did come down to the players just running in circle's most of the time and not really skillful.

Also once you have your skilldeck as you like it you wont be changing it that often, maybe at lvl 50 once you get alot more skills but again once you settle on a skilldeck I dont see you changing it that often, unless maybe if you are a maybe say a void seer and want to go healing for a certain encounter but that isnt what this game is about, maybe from time to time you will change a spell here and there but for the most part you will settle on a skilldeck.

Really what is a next gen MMo?

This term gets thrown around alot now and for every game that has said it,well it has ended in tears,The OP mentioned TCoS as maybe being a next gen as you could avoid melee attacks, well I hate to burst your bubble but at times all players do is run around in a circle in melee hoping to avoid the attack.

I tell you what instead of delivering the "next gen mmo" how about a company actually delivers a mmo that is ready for release and we build from there!

Aion has released in Korea and by all accounts has done well, now they have a few months to get it translated and sort out the bugs before it hits the EU/NA market and I tell you what...If the game is in a finished state and playable that will feel "next gen" to me after the terrible releases that have happened in the last couple of years.

Man you really want to pull this out dont you?

You said-

"Um, my point is that the demographics are changing, it's the last sentence of the paragraph. Do I need to spell out what that means? It means that there could be other changes too. And we don't know if the blocks are actually happening yet since the CB and OB didn't have IP blocking. It's all speculation at this point."

Read Banshee's coments and I quote(1 last time)

"people from the countries under Frogster/Mindscape will be not eligible (aka IP banned) from playing on Acclaim servers and Frogster/Mindscape will IP ban people from Acclaim territories."

Now if you cant understand that I cant help you,I wont answer you again as I am sick off it and I wont make myself a troll on your behalf.

<deleted too save myself a ban>

This leads me to believe they didnt have a choice.

For me this seperation isnt a big issue.
This gives everyone a chance to make new friends and start new guilds.

I do have a feeling we will miss the UK players more then they will miss us hehe.

See you all ingame in december

The thing that bothers me(yes I am being selfish here)is the fact I am from Scotland but live in Holland,I do speak dutch but am not as relaxed as I am with English, now looking at the servers we will have the Benelux,Scandanivia,Austria and Swiss...French and Germans have there own server's.

I know there will be dutch guilds as there will Scandanivian, yes there maybe a few English speaking guilds but without the UK guys and the rest of Europe they will be very few and far between, also take into the fact you will only have say 9 countries over the 2 servers(1xpve 1x pvp)that makes it even worse.

For people like me this is a none starter, even the free trial of the 1st 7 levels doesnt seem worth while,a real shame.

sorry my post was pre-moria,infact it wasnt long after the game got released,I think maybe a month or 2,it really did put me off the fact I couldnt just "help" someone,as a healer that is 1 thing I like in a mmo.

The guy was for real.

Not sure if this was dives but it sure was a great laugh....ahh happy days.

I remember something like this happening to me,I had a minstrel and thought the guy needed a hand after we were done he gave me some abuse....and ok I gve him some back,I just couldnt understand that I had helped him and he was upset,I checked the forums and found that(something of the quote i can remember) "it is always polite to ask 1st if the person would like you too help them before you help"

I found this insane in a mmo game and 1 of the reasons I left, some guy is getting mauled but before I can help I should whisper him 1st to ask and hope before he dies he can say yes and then hope I can still help him?

Not exactly a mmo game when you cant help another player.

Well being a troll or a fanboi has a very thin line it would seem.

I have posted for a certain game for quite sometime now and posted as much info as I could in that time(some may say a fanboi) I dont know I just liked the game.

Then something happened a couple of weeks before launch and I decided I wouldnt play the game anymore because of it(didnt go nuts about it,just said I wouldnt play)

I continued to post about the game, nothing like "this game sux" or anything just the same as I did before, giving out info about the game and what I knew was happenning.

Then once I was giving out what was indeed true but bad for the game I was called a troll and I should stop trolling the boards as I wouldnt be playing!

It would seem you cant win, although on this occassion I was never called a fanboi I could have been seen as one for all the posts I done but was quickly called a troll when I said I wouldnt play.....its a strange world.
