• someone's computer can't play WAR aswell as WoW.
• only 2 people said they left for WAR and 1 came back to WoW
• They want to grind
• They enjoy Raids (as do I but it still is a grind)
• They enjoy 2v2 unbalanced end-game PvP
• They played a Ret Pally and wanted to see all the talk about them being OP
• They just wanted to see how 3.0.2 is different from the old WoW and TBC

I will not look at this and think that Mythic should worry. Before Blizzard talk next time, I want details and how many people left for WAR just like they said it on AoC. BTW if they won't say it, that means it wasn't a crushing blow like AoC was.

So WAR haters rage on and WoW fanboi's bring it on for this next Epic Thread of talking smack on another person over internet from maybe a world apart.

The only reason WoW even exists is thanks to Warhammer 40000 tabletop universe where they ripped most of their ideas. I cam care less to hear about WoW on a Warhammer board.

I see what you are describing here and I was trying hard to stick to Scout stance...which seems to equal FAIL at this time. Guess I will respec and give it another shot, as is the most I am able to do in full scout spec for my level and maxed out Balistic gear is around 200-300 per shot with long ass prep time and that lovely orc on me in 1-2 shots.

Well I am getting ready to retire my SW at 21. In PvE its a matter of getting max possible range and getting lucky to stick 2-3 shots in before the "I hope I can outlast this thing" melee. This doesnt seem to work too well vs tank mobs with shields as they block the shots more often than not.

In PvP my only claim to fame is picking off some dumb Magus or Squigy with an occasional tank who ran too far into Order ranks and is getting gang raped. A lvl 11-13 Witch Elf handed my ass back to me in 10 secs consistently, that is after I knocked her down, rooted her and tried kting with Skirmisher.

My SW cannot survive any melee type RvR opponent no matter the unless the lvl diff is 12+ lvls. Its getting ridiculous. The fact they carry a bow and dress like a fruity ninja while having no evade/dodge/escape advantage whatsoever doesnt help either. Kiting is impossible to pull off with a positive result in RvR.

Anyhow looks like Ironbreaker or Warrior Priest is what I am trying next. Although I loathe the slow dmg of either and lack of range at least they can last through a melee fight.

Even with good old DX9 the graphics are superb!

Lamegate London used DX10, plenty of other non-MMO titles use DX10. QAR at least had half a brain to clearly state that EAX support was taken out of Vista since it created unstable game play.  AoC team on the other hand keeps rubbing this DX10 in our face a like new shiny...we already paid for it, it was already shown off in endless PR vomit, why are they hoping to magically have people re-sub because now they are *working* on implemeting it ?

You're comparing AoC post-beta with WAR open beta.

I was in AoCs open beta and I'm currently in WARs open beta. The difference is night and day with WAR OB being ten times more stable. AoC OB was so Laggy with constant C2Ds for a Majority of players (Guess you forget that part eh?). In fact AoCs OB was so bad the release client patch was considered a "Miracle".

Cant compare purposefully unfinished test with a final patched retail game.

I really hope you are in beta thats all i can say :)

AoC had way longer beta testing (from April 07 till May 08 - with both general where started from level 1 and got no limitation  and tehnical / focus test ) and it was 2nd coming for a lot of beta players .. we all can see how it turned out.

All Iam saying is do not take everything you hear for granted, being in WAR beta i can say game looks great but as all new games there are some issues so just wait for release before you start claiming ....

 I wish I was in beta to be honest. I am drawing my claims as you put it from playing DAOC. Mythic can turn things around quite rapidly when they need to - especially when new content is concerned.

Suppose we can always get one of the Inflatable Legendary Swords and paint them *anatomically correct* colors.

Well my experience is a bit different.
1. Log ON

2. I load  in Kashetta and while Iam still thinking what will I do some starting to beat me up while my "protection" is still on.  I hover over the protection buff and see 9 seconds to go, I buff my self and start gaining some distance and as soon as the buff is off I beat the crap out of him.

3. Now checking my guild window to see there are 34 members online, I ask in guild chat whats up and members are responding we are in Epic Kashetta now grinding and protection our spawn as we get attacked by other groups every now and then.

4. I joined them and do some grind there for like 20 minutes ( got lucky with 1 epic too ) then one of the members suggest lets go to normal Kashetta and grind that camp for gems so we do it.
Once we port there few more members wanna join and asking in what instance are we .. checking the instance window I see 5 instances we told them come to Balder and lets make 3 groups.

5. Around 1.5h pass since I log in its 17:30 GMT and people are getting raid for our Black Citadel Raid.
The raid is over within 2h and around 10 members were put out of rotation so I ask them what are you guys up to, the raid is over ... they responded we are fighting with few russian guilds at city in kashetta, all of our raid moves there and what we see is almost 2 full raids of russian guild against several other guilds and us. After around 45 minutes of fighting there is like 28 members online we still have 1 raid group goin on but russians are logging off.

Well thats above average day in AoC.

Average day:
1. Raid either BRC or vistrix
2. Some group farming in epic or normal kashetta
3. 2 days per week we dont raid but are doing boosting groups .. 1 boosting group of lvl 60 and 70 and another 12 man raid for protection.
4. At least 3 to 5 mini games to boost up our guild points.  ( 3 to 5 for me )
5. Some open world PvP group vs group or raid vs raid.

But as some mention AoC is quite boring because there is not much you can do the only thing beside raiding is the content you create for your self.

We wanna do sieging but its borked, we wanna get pvp XP points but they are not implemented, we wanna have PvP weapons/armors but there are ingame yet etc...

If you are in casual guild or solo there is really nothing to do to be worth while once you reach level 80 until they provide some decent end game content ( raiding is far from enough ) players will leave the game.
 

AoC is worth all the money if you dont mind qutting the game once you reach max level, you have great combat system, quests are good and funny, you have great graphics etc .. ( keep in mind the game will crash from time to time, there are few annoying bugs and if you cant stand that do not buy it ).

p.s. I feel sorry for WAR couse the same ex AoC fans that were bashing WAR few months ago and now are speaking like WAR is 2nd comming ... wait 2 months after WAR is released and just keep track what will they do.

Same thing I am thinking - DAOC has been running 7 years now, granted not many people playing but it actually lived a full software lifecycle which is amazing for an MMO game. And I just might be crazy to log into my 12 lvl 50's to see whats up

I wholeheartedly agree - I am no longer hyped over about WAR but I will give it a try. After 3 years of DAOC I am left with a such a void that I am guessing only Mythic can fill. I truly like them as a company - thats a lot for me to say.

In my experience they really did an honest thing with community/customer relations and learned a thing or two back in the days of DAOC. I salute the release of  WAR while not being overly enthusiastic about it.

Although I havnt tried the siege PvP yet with my guild/city I do recall Avery going on about "massive PvP siege battels that will put DAOC to shame" back in the early days of closed beta.

The biggest DAOC PvP raid I have been on was numbering 480 people - my framerate would drop to 10-20  when PBAOE groups would get near but it was still playable and massive indeed. Not to mention that everyone on attacking and defending sides was gaining gold, exp and realm points for both themselves and the guild that actually meant a lot as they added much more to your character.

So how about it Mr. Correspondent - when will AoC technology support 400+ players PvP'ing for the same objective ?

I still have my sub open for Age of Conan although I honestly havnt logged in for over 2 weeks now. I got my char close to 60 and realized that running daily Villa grind wasnt really as fabulous as it seemed at first.

I am on a PvP server and fights are frequent and chaotic but the point is lacking severely. My only motivation to PvP nowadays is to get some ganker that pissed me off a while back - revenge can only take you so far. Once you get  the guy several times (kill, gank, gy camp, teabag, rinse and repeat) you start to wonder what else is there to do ?

Maybe I was dumb to roll a priest but it seems weird that I only have one real heal spell that is long to fire, not a single target and has such a degree of variance to the outcome as to make it a gamble when trying to save anyone from dieing. The fact that I get OMGWTFPWNED by all tanks and any bored, half-asleep partly afk TOS out there does not help with class/gameplay satisfaction.

Overall I am going to give AoC till next patch to see if they can interest me enough to keep playing. As it stands, I tend to enjoy the wildly chaotic TF2 battles much more....
