Are you aware of that AoC is the most cutting edge MMO out there today?

Haha, that quote fails as much as your avatar!

The Wii's a bit limted in terms of hardware for a MMO, though Monster Hunter 3 has some elements of a MMO and at the moment is the closest thing your going to get.

I never when people say wow kids playing MMO's at 8 years old! I was playing games since I was five, they were hard unforgiving games on the ZX spectrum and Commodore 64, games today are way to easy, I could of easily played any MMO today as a kid.

I've played WoW on and off since its retail release and I have left the last two times due to lag being so bad I couldn't bare to play any longer. I was wondering if the lag has improved at all? I have 3GB of RAM, 3GHz core 2 duo cpu, and a Nvidia GeForce 260 with 876MB video ram. I'm on a 15MB/15MB cable connection. My computer shouldn't be the source of lag. My question is aimed at the WOW servers. Any expereinces, thoughts, suggestions, or feedback would be most appreciated.

Note: I know many hate WoW. Please do not respond just to flame WoW or me for playing it.

Muahaha. . . oh fine I won't.

It might be that your computer is the source of the lag just not in the way you think.  WoW is an older game and you are running on almost the top of the line rig.  As hardware and drivers become more advanced they begin to cut some of the more basic items that some of the older games need to run smoothly.

Some of the things you can try are:

  1. Update your motherboard's bios.
  2. Make sure Windows is up to date with all of the latest.
  3. Run a disc defragmenter.
  4. Run both a virus scanner as well as an adware scanner to make sure there aren't any unwanted processes.

Thats bad advice, the amount of people I've seen with dead boards because someone has advised them to flash there BIOS for magic fixes makes it not worth it.

Some people are, they have upgraded the graphic engine a bit, notice the new shadows and spell effects?

One of the best games I've played this year, not Oblivion with guns I knew it would'nt be, they've kept true to the style and lore of Fallout 1 and 2, looks awesome to.

You get 150 points if you finish it on hard mode, you are playing it on Xbox?

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic had some really awesome and hugely underrated FP action. You could run people through with your sword, impale them while on the ground and your weapon physically connected with your foe, often sending them flying backwards.

It was a wonderfully visceral and brutal experience that I hope DF can replicate.

Agree, some call it "The Adventures of Sir Kicksalot Deathboot in the Land of Conspiciously Placed Spike Racks", but it's still the most fun and diverse combat system out there. And when adding the beautiful graphical style, the stunning animations, the entertaining storyline and the great level design it's the best Action-RPG evah made.

If someone manages to efficiently implement DMoMM's combat system in an MMO it will be a winner.

Don't worry, it was an unreputable crtic site that demolished the rating for it (1Up I believe). I feel sorry for those who trust of judgement of "wannabe witty yet failing at being witty" geekatrons. Not to mention those who cannot seperate reality from a video game.

Nope it was the fact that it was another Ubisoft bugfest, broken for alot of gamers which was a shame at the time it was a good game.

I think this year has been a total letdown in term of gaming for me, In terms of quality and variety of games on the PC. I own every console and have a good PC, gaming is my hobby so I like to play most games that come out. And what's comes out lately has been worrying.

Two majorly hyped MMO's AoC, WAR, while WAR was ok for about a few weeks before the boredom set it, AoC was a walking abortion of a MMO, hyped to death, didnt deliver.

Same as the single player stuff, Spore was dissapointing, Farcry 2 is not as good as I hoped many other games as well, it seems the graphics are there but the content, design is just lacking. Take a look at console games, it seems developers spend way to much time on the engine, hype it then when you play it it has a couple hours of gameplay, you can finish it in a day. Gears of War, the star wars force unleashed, Assassins creed, prime examples of way to short games.

I think this year I can count on one hand the games I have actually enjoyed and got near or have completed.

Seems like WAR will get tougher competition than what they first anticipated. Comments on this ?(constructive please)

What is the point of this post? Of course the official AoC forums will be positive, every ounce of negativity or complaints has been purged out until only positive, every thing is perfect posts are left.

Then you throw a comment about WAR? What is it with AoC players and WAR? You have to justify why you believe AoC is better than WAR, do you see WAR players keep going on about AoC, no they don't give a f**k about AoC.

Blasphemer!

Seriously, how ridiculous is this. That song is actually a very upbeat, inspirational tune at least from what I heard of it. All of the things wrong in the world and Muslims are worrying about a song in a game like this, it's amazingly moronic.

Apparently in Islam-world, putting any Qur'an text to music is a huge no-no.

I guess it would be comparible to .... tearing up a picture of the Pope.

Thing is the songs 2 years old, why get all offended by it now?

AoC: The most overhyped lied about game I have ever come across, as an MMO its pure trash as a singler player game with multiplayer elements it could have been mediochre.

DD Online: Complete waste of one the best roleplaying IP's you could have, how could you fuck this up? And why in the name of god was it not set in the Forgotten Realms campaign? Instead of the crapass Eberron setting.

Matrix Online: Again a complete waste of an IP and my time.

Easy prediction and traceable at this very moment.

All of the War players I know in real life came to visit the game while waiting for WotLK. Even if they stopped with Wow, they already booked their pre order of WotLK.

The moment Blizzard goes "booh" they all go back to WotLK, which has a raiding content to last till Christmas 2009 for most.

Add to that the boring end gameplay and War will go from 400K (end of Oct) to 300 K (november) to under 250 K  (Feb 2009).

Subscription cards for War already are out of the top 70 on PC(!) sales on amazon.com today (coming from a high top 30 place merely 2 weeks ago).

I saw the same happening with the subscription cards for AoC 4 weeks after launch (when the time of new subscription cards should be rocketing).

The moment these sub cards leave the top 100 of PC sales, subs just die off way faster than new games sold (out of the top 50 video sales).

Xfire figures show the rest - far less players even now before subs need to be paid.

It's AoC all over again except that War will hang in there just under EVE subs based in 2009 (200K).

All the rest will hardly have any change.

Once WOTLK is out all will loose out to some degree, the newer ones will suffer the most, AoC and WAR, but I think LOTR will be ok seeing they got a new exspansion out as well.

Ive been playing this game for years since way back when I bought it for a few dollars to support it. Its one of the best indie developed games out, made by a team of only 2 people originally, and has an excellent modding community.
