Will probably mess up your codes, other companies have canceled codes for canceled orders.

Might not be a wise move, either way they will give you time to enter your Retail CD key in after release.

Your Right, standard PVP'rs need a way to grief ppl.

RVR is where real Group PVP takes place, ask ANY DAOC vet. DAOC is STILL the best PVP game available, and if you think its not, youve never played it. Because the amount of skill and reliance you have on your group mates is unmatched in Top guilds.

Most standard PVP''rs dont like to co-operate and accomplish anything, they want to kill ppl while they arent expecting it.

My first character, and only one so far is a 24 Ranger, The fact I didnt even get a bow untill level 10, kinda burnt me. But all and all it's fun. though the range on the attacks seem a tad short. I am enjoying it, I mite try a Dark Templar once the servers come back up though, Any thoughts on the DT's ?

As A Dark Temp myself, at early levels its a little rough, as your very very feat Dependant, but truly an amazing tanking class if you can master the class itself, just takes a little time to get into the hang of Stance Dancing and how to Leech as much as possible.

Well, Im going to start this off with a resume.

Ive played alot of MMOs including COH, DAOC(5 Years), WoW, TabRasa, Hellgate London, Vanguard, Anarchy Online...Etcetc, I think you get the point.

I didnt go into AOC expecting anything, I didnt participate in any of the Beta's, Opened or Closed...

I logged into the game initially with a 7300LE 512Meg Card, not really thinking Id have too many issues on the premise that my Cards size would make up for its shortcomings. I was getting horrible frames, in an Albeit GORGEOUS environment...so I took the plunge and went IMMEADIATLY to buy a new card.

And I can honestly say . BEST. GAME. EVER.

The combat system is truly unique, and Ive been victim myself of being lazy and watching my char stand there doing nothing as I wait for an Auto Attack that never comes, It forces you to truly be involved with the fight at hand, involving char positions and all those tactics into the fray.

Im not going to write a book about it. But I will say, if your computer can run it , and your looking for a game to pass some time, AOC is definatly worth checking out, even if its just for the fatalities, because you can never really get bored of that :)

I don't think anyone doubted whether the 360 had the horsepower.  What people are doubting is the storage capacity.

If it takes this long to load a zone on a PC, reading off a hard drive, how long will it take to load off a disc?

What will likely happen is that the graphics will be compressed a TON and optimized for one graphics setting.  Hopefully they can stuff it into just 1 disk and try to cache as much as possible (assuming it can take advantage of the hard drive).

You do know that the 360 has got a 120bg HD? A MMORPG client could easily be stored exactly the same way as it is on the PC.

I won't even go down the 'you can use a USB keyboard' route, but it has, if they wanted to use it for MMORPGs, a very neat mini keyboard that expands the basic controller. It's meant to be used for messaging and whatever obviously, but no reason at all a MMORPG dev couldnt utilise it to expand the options for a MMORPG. This costs £24.99 (UK), so it's well within most peoples range I would think.

I have had the '360 as a MMO platform' discussion a few times on these boards, saying bascially the same as the OP. People saying that the 360 is somehow gonna suffer from the transition either dosent know what a modern console is capable of, or just has the PC user's 'leet' syndrome. I have always said that the 360, still, out performs at least 2 thirds of the 'average' casual gamer's rigs out there.

This forum alone over the past 2 weeks or so has proven why the console will become the preferred platform for massive online gaming over the next 2-3 years.

I think it's probably not too unrealistic to say that the next generation of consoles will kill off home PCs altogether as their uses converge.

Funny thing is , that most Larger Games on the 360 Console are designed to take advantage of the consoles HDD capabilities by caching files on the HDD. Oblivion and Halo3 are good examples.

Secondly ,  The Game doesnt HAVE to come on one Disc. The console is Designed to Install files just like any Windows Operating System. So Mulitple Disc Installs are IN. ( See Oblivion and it expansions. Which were all released on different discs you could install)

Secondly, we dont know exactly how long it will take to load a zone at this point, as with ALL mmo's it will not be fully optimized for a couple months Im guessing as they tweak things here and there. It also depends on what type of system your running. If your running a HDD thats max RPM is 7200 then obviously you will load slower than somone with Raptor's at 10K rpm.

On the Console side.....O right , theres no RPM on the HDD, its basically a giant USB Stick drive. With **Cough** the CPUs to manage data transfer.

Yes , thats right, the Xbox 360 is a TRI core system. Well ahead of your Dual cores.

I work for Microsoft, And no where did I claim to be a programmer. I work for xbox :P Why would i go work for Funcom . hehehe.

I am not making claims about how its going to operate in relation to the PC version ( which I will be playing) but I just wanted to toss some credible info about the 360 out there for all the nay sayers about the consoles ability to play it

I was just reading a few threads on a bunch of different forums. Now first off, you can flame me for never posting and blah blah blah as you do to ppl who dont post very often.

However, I frequent many forums, and just tend not to post often unless I have first hand knowledge about the discussion at hand...

And when It come to Xbox360 I do have first hand knowledge as I work for them directly. I am currently employed by Microsoft on the Xbox360 team.

TO ADD to that I AM NOT AN XBOX fanboy and dont even own one, Im a PC gamer at heart.

However, the 360 is MORE than capable of Running AoC to ppl who dont believe that it can, your probably the same ppl who didnt think that FFXI was possible on a console, or Oblivion.

I do know the exact specs of the console , and it is more than likely more powerful as a dedicated gaming machine than about 75% of the home computers on the market currently even if it is 2.5 years old.

The only CPU's that can actually claim they are more powerful are the top end CPU's that gamers tend to customer build.  So yes it is VERY plausible to run AOC on the Xbox360 Console.

NO you will not have to have GOLD XBOX Live to play it. YES you will have to sub to AOC on the Console to play it. But ALL subscription based games are playable with Silver xbox Live, meaning, just plug the console into the internet.

Now you can flame me all you want and call me a fanbois or w/e you'd like, I just call it as I see it.
