I simply got bored.

When I first started playing, I really enjoyed the combat..and my first couple of Control Point base defense events were simply superb. Tension, fast combat...pressure...great stuff.

I was unfortunate enough to get a powerful machine gun, and its ruined the game for me. All I have to do is run and hold the left mouse button. No skill toggling, no looking for cover, no tactical approach. Just leap in and press the left mouse button over and over.

 

Im actually quite sad, I wanted to like this game..and had some great moments with it. But it doesnt add up to $15 a month.

Also sorry to see that we still have people that grab that UBER weapon and all they seem willing ot do is use that, afcourse any game might become broring if gamers really would play that way. You should know or atleast understand that TR is a game where you can find your own challenge, no one is telling you to only use that great gun, you have more you are able to use to be succesfull. You see in each and every MMO there is a crowed who only wants to use hte UBER stuff and of all games it's mostly those who stop playing due to bordom, but unfortuinaly all we keep seeing is those people blaming the game but not once do we see people saying that they know it's beccause of their playstyle.

Look i'm not saying you NEED to like TR as each and every person is different, but when i see someone complain which is the  result of that persons playstyle i often react, trying to explain my point of view.

Each and every MMO i played was for about 50% of it's lvl's EASY not one was what i would call difficult, but in each of those MMO's i always found my own challenge, and thats not following the sheep metiod but playing HOW I WANT TO PLAY IT and how i feel the game can be challenging, meaning you will not see me use onew type of gun or even one type of skills, i always use all the skills i have, some are weak some are strong, but atleast when using them all the game will be challenging to me, this goes for all MMO's i played, i never needed that UBER stuff as i saw each person using such things always got bored of not having a challenge by the game....again this goes for each and every MMO i have played/tried/tested and always saw those speaking about only using one type of UBER weapon to get bored. My own experiance and who i have met, this doesn't REALLY mean each and every person, but just those i met or saw writting on forums.

Kinda the reason why i sometimes ask or say that certain people should really try and reconsider their playstyle.

So basically you're saying if someone makes a crappy imbalanced game, people should nerf themselves and make their characters less strong so that it's not so easy?  And more, you're angry because people won't do this like you?

I downloaded the free trial and fired up the game.  Started the beginner tutorial and had just pressed G to get my equip when a message popped up, something like "for dishonorable conduct you are banned from service for 3 days"

I had seriously just logged in for the first time ever....uh wtf?

it's just that they still haven't accepted that you can't "out-wow" wow.  If LOTRO couldn't do it with the Tolkien name brand, what makes other companies think they can do it with some half-assed world invented by some game dev?

I suggested that they turn all of PVP into a "holodeck" type situation where squads get together for competition like a sport.  The commanding officers use this to keep their squads sharp and to promote some friendly competition.  This would give a logical reason why two human squads would be fighting one another, as they haven't even attempted to make PVP in TR make any sense whatsoever.  the humans are supposed to be an organized army...why are you allowed to attack and kill your fellow soldiers without facing a court martial or worse?

I further suggested that they hold weekly ladders and tournaments, such as 3v3, 5v5, etc and post the results. Have weekly champions. This simple competitive formula has kept FPS games going for decades.  Why not bring it into the MMO world?

NGE SWG was only a failure in terms of being a STAR WARS GAME.   As a star wars game, it's a flop.  but if you just judge the NGE by its own merits, I think it had very solid PVP with an interesting and complex team vs team aspect that TR is just not complex enough to touch.  

In my opinion, the gameplay of NGE SWG is better and more satisfying than that of TR.  SWG just has so many more options in terms of character building than TR.  Still, SWG was just an 'ok' game.  And if you can't manage to make a great game out of the star wars universe, you really have no business being a game dev.

the problem is that it's not a change of pace from fantasy settings.   The gameplay is like a dumbed down NGE SWG and the settings are like any fantasy mmo basically.  forests.  caves. 

I think it's a case of being lazy.  Clearly, they didn't want to do all the work of making brand new urban landscape art, so they just reused some old fantasy stuff.  You just can't be lazy in the MMO genre.  Too much competition for those dollars.  I think this is one of the major things MMO companies don't seem to realize.  They just want to cash in, so they come up with a cool concept and then cut corners on the actual development.  MMO's are being announced way too early (star trek online comes to mind) which starts the scrutiny, countdown, and pressure to release. 

This site is a fine example of how disillusioned everyone is with the MMO genre.  Those who aren't satisfied with WoW just jump around from mmo to mmo looking for that special game, but the fact is that there just isn't much quality out there.  As sad as it is, I would honestly say SWG is the best MMO i've played to date, but it's still a failure considering they had this huge license to work with and still managed to blow it.  Ironically, the faults of SWG are very similar to those of TR.  SWG just doesn't FEEL like star wars.  It feels like a fantasy game with lightsabers and rifles.  TR doesn't feel like a sci-fi game.

They tried to charge my credit card for the monthly fee even though I never signed up for one.  I sent them a ticket (lol....like they'll ever get around to looking at it) saying "DO NOT CHARGE MY CREDIT CARD"

Even more disturbing is the fact that there doesn't seem to be a "cancel subscription" or "cancel account" option anywhere in the account page.  beware companies that are going under.  They might do desperate things.  I've already contacted the Attorney General here in my state and informed them that I suspect Auran of possible credit card fraud.  If they charge my card again for anything, you can be sure i'll press this issue.
