I find it kind of odd that Jumpgate has suddenly taken a dive in the hype-meter over the last couple of days. Why? Nothing big or small has really come out that would change this one way or another? I'm really confused as this game looks really promising.

I'm also confused why games like WAR get so much hype when they seem like just another WoW clone, but I suppose thats a different topic.

Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic
Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW
Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike
Loved: Star Wars Galaxies
Waiting for: Jumpgate Evolution, Earthrise, Fallen Earth, anything sandbox.

"In EVE, no one gives a damn about a fair fight." - chafin

Cheap shots about WAR aside, perhaps people are losing interest in JE since little seems to be happening with it.

But most regulars here will tell you to pay little mind to the hype meter, it doesn't reflect too much of anything......just for fun.

The only reason why it concerns me is because I want JGE to stay on the front page of it. I only found JGE because it was on that front page hype-meter, and I think it looks awesome so I want others to find it too

indeed, i dont think it is getting a lot of hype because it is still quite a bit away from release, i think they are kinda in the stage of HEAVY development, they know what they want, they some of it, they know what they are going to do and they are currently making it happen you know?

I was under the impression that they were past heavy development. The game was initially scheduled for late 08 but last mention was early 09, and they just announced in the forums that they were in Alpha.

There can't be enough development in JGE b4 it's released.

This type of game takes a lot of resources to make well. And from the recent video they put out it seems they are doing very well with it.

I can see 6 more months of filling the game world and working on models, and adding new features as time permits.

I'v been waiting for a game like this since I realized EVE wasn't an FPS style game.

JGE will swallow the EVE community whole.

F.Y.I. -- The developer of Black Prophecy has filed for insolvency in Germany.  It is not yet known whether development for BP will continue, be cancelled, or if the whole project will be sold off.

Reakktor has stated on  the NC board that they are 100% daughter to 10tacle which has forced them to file insolvency as well.

I think BP is done for. :(

Multiplayer Space games have never done well, EvE being an exception because it doesn't take twitch skills to fly the ships.

Unless they can make the flying in JGE Tard-Friendly it's gonna be the same story as all skill based flying games:

A nearly empty universe with some die hard fans that make new players feel unwelcome.

(OOPS, I just described JGClassic)

I don't expect JGE to do well but I will still pay and play.

It's clear ND are aiming JGE at the novice friendly market, you only need to listen to the gnashing of teeth from the Classic players over autodocking, split pve/pvp servers etc for confirmation.

The success of EVE has really helped create the market for a twitch variant and while JGE will always be a niche game, I can't see any reason why it won't be one of the most successful so long as ND sticks to their current path.

even so, it is a very challenging task to test an MMORPG to get all the bugs out and they are definitely still developing, i'd say they have about 1/2 of the game done (think of it like the equivalent levels 1-50 in wow or w.e...the equivalent of levels 51-70 are still in development plus features such as an economy that works, player tools, etc.)

I could be ignorant like you too, and say jumpgate is an eve clone.

That wouldn't be ignorant, that would just be plain wrong, right down to the basic mechanics. The only thing they have in common is being space based.

Now as for WAR, looks like WoW with a large scale world PvP focus.
