If you are a military, first person shooter, WW2 or a history fan, you need to give this game a shot It will run on what ever pc you curently got Great break from the lvl up fantasy, if you need one. Drive tank, fly planes, Captain boats, jump paratroper out of a air play, sniper...geez I forgot how much I liked this niche game. |

So, the answer is..you are having fun:-). This is still the best kept secret on the net. Welcome back. I think we picked up a lot of newbies from Becketts Online Gaming..I think it use to be Computer Gaming World but they gave out a freebie code, cause I was flying a big load of newbies to Dunquere trying to save the campaign. |

Sadly, I'm one of those newbies as well. I just heard about the game recently which is amazing seeing as it's been out for 7 years. I'm actually thinking about quiting AoC and playing this after the first 2 days although it is hard as hell to learn how to play. Just thought I would say that I'm loving the game and anyone who thinks they might want to give it a try should do so. =D |

Welcome aboard, Jake! Joine a squad as soon as you can and let them help you with the learning curve. You can always quit later if you find another group you like better. If you are Allied speak up on the objective or help channel and the BKB will recruit you immediately. |

Great to hear you have fun, well high end graphics arent all - isnt it ? Maybe iam going to join with a trial the next weeks hehe. Btw if you want to play for longer, you have to test both sides so you will know the strength and weaknesses of every equipment and side - just a tip. |

Sorry for the late reply, but I've been really busy with stuff in real life lately. Just got out of school and been hanging out with a buddy before he has to leve for nine weeks. I've played for France when I did play and was enjoying it, so I'll see if I can get in touch with you guys when I get on again. I'm a bit too tired to play at the moment so I'll be on tomorrow. Oh, as for how I'm enjoying the game so far. I was trying out flight and I have to admit, it is rediculously hard. I really enjoyed it though and I'll probably be doing a lot of offline play practicing with the airplanes. Aside from the flight, I thought I was actually getting slightly decent with infantry in the online play. I was managing to take out at least one guy every life after a little while, but I still have no clue how to hit people from too far away with that rifle. |

Page up/down sets the rifle sight ranges. I use 100 meters in city and 200 300 depending on the disance outaide a city. |

I played the trial and I really loved the idea, however I think it was poorly executed. It was too slow paced for me, and the graphics were just unbearable. It was really discouraging to spend 15 minutes in an airplane and to start landing and get shot down and have to repeat the same process all over again. Flying airplanes was way over complicated as well. I wish IW would do something similar to WWII:O with the CoD series, and modern at that. |

Heyas,
Trying out this free trial and hoping this will suck me in past the 14days. Big interest in the era and have been reading up on the game quite alot to prepare myself, but finding controls very confusing and hard to adjust to as I practice offline. Also need a joystick it seems, since customizing mouse/keyboard is frustrating me with everything but the infantry. Can`t even get a tank to turn (unless I crash into something :P) but was able to move the turret and fire (at least getting some satisfaction from that). Tried online breifly today, but then logged off after someone in chat asked ``why is there a rifleman in `x` town``. Hate feeling incompetent or a burden, especially in a game where stupid moves seem to have the potential to hinder your team.
But anyways, enough with the rambling. From previous posters, they suggested joining a squad for help (hearing BKB alot). Would love to commit to a friendly and good natured group that will tolerate stupid questions (and hopefully with some time gain a good teamate, heh).
So is that it? Log on online, and when you see that list of recruitment squads, just join one? Or do people suggest contacting these people as a neutral ingame, or even offline through emails, and if so, anyone have a contact for me?
Sorry, this game is making me feel way out of my depth, but so interested in it, and want to start on the right foot.
Thanks.

Life is short, play. |
Ive played this game in 2005, according to the stats on the site fo the game... Now im back in to it with a new account, in order to try the 14 days free trial... and i loved it. Loved the fact of being back into the game, with the rush of hiding behind the bushes and enjoying the fact of being part of a great game community. Some say that the gameplay might not be a wished adrenaline shootout as many FPS out there.... thats only because most of the players dont go to where the action is... as for me, sometimes i spawn into a town where is being occupied by the enemy, after being shoot twice and seeing that the town will be captured, ill stop spawning there and go somewhere else quiet... thats when i get bored... so if someone find it bored, just be where the action is... try to collaborate with everyone, lots of messages asking for defense and offense and even paratroopers drops are made every minute, so if you follow the needs of the troops i think you ll get some great hours of joy... dont think that in battlefield you just go and hide and shoot.... you also could help your side with useful information, as marking the enemies in the map, where everyone could know where exactly enemies are located... instead on typing messages like "i see one here besides a building..." as for the squads, yes, is really helpfull to join a squad, i did back in 2005, and i will rejoin them or someother squad, is really important to have a group of "buddies" where you can gain a lot of helpfull information and loads of fun online. in order to join the squads, try to find them in the forum of the game here forums.battlegroundeurope.com/forumdisplay.php there is a section for recruitment, go and find one you like. See you all there in the battlefield, i play for the allies.... :-)

Hints for beginners: 1. Don't hesitate to ask on the help channel. People mostly are helpful. 2. As beginners better help defend a city instead of attacking. The enemy comes to You, You can respawn fast and be right back into the action if killed. To find action: a. use the map. Look for cities which blink green AND that have red soldier or tank icons with it. Click on the flag there to see which brigade is located there to defend that city. Join that particluar brigade, select a mission, select a weapon and go in... b. Watch the chat messages. From time to time messages appear where people are needed. Join the brigade or city announced in the chat message. 3. Always move and stay in cover, don't run over open field with enemies close! Don't move in the field of view of enemy tanks, even if they seem to be far! Tanks have optics with binocs and can see and shoot You from FAR away! Only infantry can capture and recapture flag buildings. Even the poorest recruit can help defend or re-capture flag buildings lost to the enemy and make a difference! Flag buildings are the places where close infantry combat happens, because ownership of all flag buildings means ownership of the city! Enemy infantry will always try to sneak in and capture the flag building that is linked with and located at the road to the next enemy city. If You spawned in an empty area with nobody there, despawn back to menu and go somewhere else. Don't run around alone and waste time! Flying planes is complex and like a flight simulation. Practise offline. And use a joystick for all vehicles! |

I only used joystick for drivin'/flyin'. it's way easier to shoot and do everythin' else with just a good mouse. |
