Well I have to say my hopes and dreams of Atlantica being atleast decent were dashed away this morning.  I never made it past the character creation screen unfortunately.  I tried to make a character on the only server available to me with a normal status,  I chose my weapon, I chose my appearance,  and tried to input my name and greeting and FAIL.  I kept getting this box popping up asking me if I agree that Id's with profanity or lewdness be deleted, so I agreed and chose yes.  Thats as far as it would let me go it would not create character after I picked yes or anything.  Now I know many of you will say well change your name blah blah blah you did something bad,  well the names I tried to use were names like Jesse or Bob or James and my greeting was Hello.  So this game got the check mark of FAIL from me,  which is sad because I couldnt even get past their character creation before I was attacked with stupidity.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this game in a testing pahse? I'm pretty sure it is. Maybe they were having an issue with their creator, or maybe their name filter. All perfectly normal in a test phase. I'd agree with you if you were playing a free trial, but you're not.

Most people forget that, and expect a flawless game. I'm surprised WAR doesn't have flame posts like this yet... :D

Anyway OP, it could be worse, I had an even worse (but similar) problem with Shadowbane, and nobody knows the answer. But Shadowbane got released, Atlantice is still in testing, so it's normal Atlantica has some bugs. ;)

I'll try and install this game later and see if I have a similar issue. I downloaded it a couple days ago but I haven't bothered with it yet. I would expect problems from a game in beta testing, but if the trouble starts as early as character creation, that's not a terribly good sign.

User error?!?

I created/played for a couple hours the other day with no issues. 

I think it might have been user error I downloaded the game wasted a good 2 hours of my time when I could have been downloading porn instead. 

You could of multi-tasked, download the game while watching porn.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you need to actually get to play the game to test it? Not giving the TESTERS the opportunity to TEST the game is pretty bad actually. That's not perfectly normal in a test phase, sorry.

umm..maybe the name was already taken?? Bob is kinda common and likely to be already in use.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't a testing phase there to test EVERYTHING? Not just to test the game? Perhaps he was able to find a character creation issue that they hadn't found yet.

The fact that you tried to play a game that is in testing, ran into an error, and immediately write the game off as a failure and a joke says more about you then it does the game.

Did you try answering "No" and naming your character fuckhead?

If you chose a name that is already used, the warning message can be a bit small to see. I suggest you try use a name that is most likely not used by anyone else.
