    • My first time experience joining the free league
    • Eh, personally I only have done a few matches, to see how it was (and cause of said prizes they were offering real life-wise.). Put it simply. I didn't like it.

The main reason, I'll admit, is that my 'leader' character, my main so to speak, is a swordsman, and has to be in the front row to do anything (he's also my most geared person out of my mercs). So, one of two things occur.

      1) The team I'm playing against doesn't know much on how it works, and spreads out damage, while I focus on removing any protection from their main while putting pressure on their 'healers' to keep them from fullhealing the main.

      or

      2) They focus fire like mad on my main and in a few turns, he dies, the rest of my team runs away, and I lose. Not fun.

I wouldn't quite mind losing so much if the 'tokens' I was getting from each match was used for more than getting small bits of cash. I also wouldn't mind it if it took more than downing one person just to win. I feel like I'm forced to use a ranged character and push him as far back into my group and have as much heavily armored people between him and the opposing team.

Next please compare Fifa 09 graphically with CM 04 or Tekken 5 with Street Fighter .....

AO on launch was very good, Choice existed back then ..

Enforcers using Blunt 1h & 2h, Bladed 1h & 2h or even piercing, not only did they have a choice of 5 major skillsets to follow there were several weapon choices in each grouping also, and thats what each expansion killed off as choices became more limited.

It was great for the casual player too with mission based PUG's or outdoor hunting in many zones, and there were several raiding style locations for the more dedicated player.

The interface was actually quite easy to use, much like with any other MMO, how hard can WSAD, 2 mouse buttons, 0-9 & F1-F6 be ??

The customisation was comparable to almost every other MMO "of it's time"

      Please, learn to read.

Nowhere did I mention anything about movement or that sort. I specifically stated my issues with the handling of the game. Also, nowhere did I compare the graphics of WoW to AO.

And I do understand that customization was limited at it's time to those options, but if they have the time to update the graphics engine, would it really kill them to add a bit more to customization as well?

because your wrong.  Anarchy Online was very good.  AOs problem was it was 4 years ahead of its time.

Sorry, but to me, the game is clunky as hell. The controls aren't user friendly, and the graphics need an update (which is on the way last I heard, but haven't heard anything about it since).

It may be that WoW spoiled me a little, but why should I have to hold shift or alt or whatever, along with clicking the item, just to see it's stats? Why is there no way to tell if an enemy has 'noticed' you or not?  The 'tutorial' zone, if it is one, doesn't quite work as good as other zones of that type.

And please don't make me start on customization, choosing between small, medium, and big for three parts of the body isn't indepth customization as some have tried to argue with me about. It is one of the oldest Sci-Fi MMOs still running on a P2P base (anyone who pays to play that game though is crazy to me), but that doesn't make it good. If anything, those people still play because of nostalgia or because they are so high-leveled that they feel it be wasted if they just deleted it and quit.

    • Thinking Of Purchasing WotLK/Resubbing
    • Well, they definitely went back to its roots. Most of the things we did in Outlands seems to have not carried over to Northrend, besides a certain crybaby-turned-rash, overzealous orc...

Lorewise, you see alot of loose ends being tied up or furthered (some quests that you might of found insignificatn from vanilla WoW seem to have some important implications now.) They diffirentiated the quests nicely. You still have the go and kill X mob at Y place here, but the mobs aren't hard to find, and if you need to kill a large amount, you either get a vehicle (new addition), or there are 'partner' quests you can do at the same time to ease the monotiny of killing a mob. There is some definitely epic quests in this expansion too, the wrath gate, especially for the Horde, is a great one and a culmination of various quests we did since we were only 15 levels old.

Another nice thing is that the gear switch isn't as horrible as the WoW-TBC change was. I'm at 76, and just changed out my T4-shoulders, T4-gloves, while my SSO-exalted necklace is still in use. Depending on what you did on your toon, will determine around when you start getting upgrades, but they will be just that, upgrades. Stamina is applenty though on the NR items, but thats natural, and even in my ZA-Badge gear I'm killing things just fine as a Ret Pally.

Oh, and be sure to make a DK, if only to do their starting area. Its one of the best things I've seen yet, and not only does it help you get accustomed to the hero class, but also to the various changes and additions they made to the game.

In terms of PvP, they have gone a long way in terms of development. There is an entire continent based solely on large-scale PvP with siege vehicles and destructable buildings and walls. Upon conquering the zone, you get a buff that allows you to gather shards for various items, including PvP based heirloom items (I'll explain later). The new BG is a D-day styled map, where one side plays defense with a fortified area, while the other plays offense, who uses whats available to break through, slowly unlocking new vehicles to aid in getting through. As for winning, I havent played yet, but I'm pretty sure the sides change, and whoever did best overall wins.

The Heirloom items are a nice addition, you use either badges or stone keeper shards to buy these items. They are account-bound (Technically really just Realm though), and scale with your level. They are equal to a blue at your level, and some come with bonus EXP effects.

Achievements were added in shortly before the expansion, and they have actually helped breathe life into old zones. People are at least doing Molten Core, Onyxia, and the like because of achievements attatched to them, and it does give people a glimpse into the old content. It can be compared to the Xbox 360's achievement system, but it goes a step above it. Some of the achievements are linked to grander Meta-achievements, and those will often have rewards associated with them, from mounts, tabards, titles, and even vanity pets and items, and most are worth the work.

Have I had issues with this game? Definitely. Blizzard has removed the Cold flying skill (something you need to learn at 77 to fly in Northrend), from its rather simple quest, and instead are forcing you to pay 1000g for it. They even, for a time, gave you an option of either doing the quest, or paying gold. Their excuse though, for removing it from the quest, was that "People didnt really know where to find the quest". One thing I really hate is that people seem to not understand that this isn't a goldsink, its just a bandaid placed over something that wasn't even broken in the first place.

People constantly say you'll make that 1k just questing, and while that's true for the uberly geared who can sell whatever they get from quests, I'm not so sure about the lesser geared, the ones coming out of outlands with greens. Its aggrivating to me because I'm not good at making gold, plain and simple, and I dont even have epic flying, so the cold flying skill is useless to me (Trust me, 60% flying is god awfully slow so I stick with my epic ground).

I also have a gripe with Dalaran. Instead of one vendor to sell badge gear, they have it separated and spewed out everywhere. So you'll have to search for the npc who sells relics,  then the npc who sells daggers, then the one with leather armor. It gets to be a real pain. It can feel real cluttered as well, with the design of the place. You also cant fly there apparently (You get zapped out of the air from what I've heard.)

Some achievements are rather lackluster with their rewards. The collect 50-vanity pets one rewards you with a skunk... yeah a skunk. the 50-mounts (It used to be 75, thank god blizz remembered the poor Tauren for once) gives you an albino drake... god awfully ugly beast I swear...

All in all, its a great expansion. I cant really compare it to TBC, but thats because I never played Vanilla WoW (All I have is my precious 70 Belfadin and an army of lvl 20-50 alts). I don't consider myself a fan boy of the game, but I have to say its great so far, from a casual standpoint. Guilds have already done every raid possible right now, but I'll let them waste their lives doing that, while I enjoy the experience, they'll be stuck bitching about having no content and how ez-mode the raids are.

lol yeah. he's definitely someone I'd want making games, he probably wrote all his ideas for TR down, then when he read through it while in development, all he saw was "way to make money for space trip" and forgot about endgame content and balance :P
