"Material object
The court dismissed the defence lawyer's argument and cited an earlier ruling that electricity can be considered a material object for the purposes of criminal law and stealing electricity is theft. The court ruled that the same principle can be applied in this case and stealing virtual Runescape items is theft as the owner was forced to hand over his possessions."
Personally I think this was a good ruling. I mean it's pretty obvious that when someone is willing to resort of physical violence and intimidation of another person to acquire something, then that something has some sort of value. Hence it should be considered a crimial theft. There are many valid and logically sound arguments that assign real value and ownership to virtual property that will stand up under legal scrutiny. I am just waiting for the first US case of this nature to receive press. ![]()
You don't just want to be able to fly it, but fly it well. Not only that, but if you're going to be a successful trader, you're going to need to invest some skill training time in marketing skills as well. Probably months of training at least is what you'r realistically looking at to train up the skills you'll need to be truly successful. Otherwise you're just going to frustrate yourself and waste isk. That being said though, you're going to have to do other things to make the initial investment capital you will need for skills, ships, modules and your first investment anyhow. So it's not like you'd just be sitting around doing nothing, or that you could jump right in feet first on day one anyways. Not to discourage you though. If you've looked into EVE I am sure you understand that there is a time investment involved in training that can be quite long at times...
I am pretty much in the same boat... I tried out the newer stuff, and wasn't tempted to stay. The MMOGs I am truly looking forward to are still a long way off. I figure since just about everything is a WoW clone with a few "new" twists, I might as well continue playing WoW for now... ![]()

I can't remember exactly when they implimented control points, but I believe it was pre-AOS. TBH it was one of the few needed changes to the pet system in UO. The pet system in WoW is adequate, although the new changes will add a good amount to it. However I have never had more fun with a pet system than I did in UO... ![]()
Am am the same way, but for me it's been going on more like the last 8 years. I played UO from 1998 to 2006, but I still played some single player games right up through early 2001. The last ones I can remember playing and really enjoying were Deus Ex, Morrowind/Oblivion and KOTOR. I recently, due to the usual mid-year MMOG funk I always get into, have bought and tried some newer single player PC games. Such as some Star Wars games that I missed (Empire at War, Battlefront and Republic Commando), and the Orange Box. Plus there are some hallmark games coming out soon like Fallout 3, Red Alert 3, Starcraft 2 and much later Diablo 3 that I want to play.
However there was a large stretch of time when I really didn't touch any games other than the MMOGs I was playing. Probably from 2002 until very recently I didn't try one new single player game, with the exception of Oblivion and KOTOR. There just isn't as much incentive as there is playing with thousands of other real life people. Plus the time investment and cash investment in an MMOG makes it hard to spend free time playing other games or doing some other form of entertainment... ![]()
