Blizzard justhired Ozzy Osbourne and Little Steven Van Zandt to do television commercials for them. SOE gets some unheard of editor to rehash old information as if new players are going to rush right out and buy EQ2 just because he describes it in such wonderful detail??
WoW sold 2.8 MILLION copies of their new expansion in less than 24 hours...Just to put that in perspective that is about 30 times the estimated number of subscriptions SOE has for the entire eq2 title. Why does SOE insist in trying to try to take market share from Blizzard by making their game a clone of WoW? Why instead don't they use some imagination and create their own game? Probably because they don't have the money to hire people with real imaginations. Instead they steal ideas from other game, use concepts from their other games (anyone remember LDoN from EQ1? well their "new" expansion is taken directly from that) and reuse old content from original EQ2 and earlier expansions. There is nothing new...tnad there hasn't been a lot new for a long time. I can only ssume that his means they have no true developers working on EQ2. it's easy to cut and paste, a monkey could do it...
Ohreally,
your trolling becomes tiresome. Go away and stay out if you have nothing useful to say then the same old same old senseless posts.
And maybe you should go back to school as well, as your math sucks too!
EverQuest 2 has still roughly 250k subs. 2,8 millon is not 30 times 250k to my estimated calculations.
So try harder next time!

And sell the game to SoE!? Udder maddness! NCSoft may be a real hit and miss kind of company, but SoE is almost nothing but miss. They wrecked Star Wars Galaxies, released Vanguard as an unfinished mess, Everquest was a grindfest of the worst kind and don't even get me started on the disaster that is Matrix Online (whoever came up with the plan to have Sony and Sega team up to make an MMO based on a sub-par action movie seriously needs to be dragged into the street and shot)! And even the very small number of games that SoE got half-way right like Planetside were treated like red-headed step-children getting no funding or upgrades while Sony went off on their next hair brained scheme to milk Everquest with another pointless add-on or to drive away another few thousand subscribers from SWG. SoE has no clue what they are doing.
I would sooner sell the game to Funcom than SoE. Funcom would probably just make it open PvP and let everyone gank themselves to death they all cancelled their subscriptions. SoE would release a patch that would triple the number of bugs in the game, add no content of any kind and somehow manage to totally alter the combat system in some way that would require everyone to have their characters reset to level one. That would be MUCH worse.
LMAO! You really don't have a clue do you? You just nothing more then the typical SOE basher on this forum!
Vanguard was developed by Brad McQuad and his company Sigil (wich no longer exists). Microsoft was the first publisher of this game, but pulled the plug and their funding as they saw what dissaster the game was. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vanguard_Saga_of_Heroes
As Brad McQuad was an old friend of John Smedly (EverQuest1 period) he gave Brad a chance by pouring in a couple million extra dollars, gave them some more time and took over the publishing from Microsoft.
But even SOE didn't want to put in more dollars after an extra year of development and it was either releasing the damn thing or Sigil going down (as they were just out of money!), wich they did anyway and so SOE took over the sacked Developers and hired them into SOE and swapped the game under Station Access.
-------------
Matrix Online same. SOE had nothing to do at all with the development.
Maxtrix Online has been developed by Monolith Productions and was released by Warner Entertainment and SEGA. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Matrix_Online
The game flopped badly and as SOE was interested in some IP's owned by Warner Entertainment. They took over Matrix Online and swapped that game under Station Access to get the IP they wanted (DC Universe). It was a one in all deal or no deal basically.
--------------
So get your facts straight, instead of this stupid nonsense bashing against SOE so many of you do without having one single clue!
Cheers

We were actually talking about this in the Tabula Rasa forum.
The reason SoE never shuts a game down, no matter how unpopular or screwed up it may have become, is to pad the value of their all access pass. I mean, if SoE shut games down for the same level of unpopularity that causes NCsoft to shut a game down, they would have pretty much nothing but Everquest going! SWG and Planetside would surely be shut down and I doubt Vanguard or EQ2 would last much longer past that. But if all those games got shut down, what would your all access pass be worth? It would be a subscription to Everquest that costs an extra five dollars is what it would be worth.
On the other hand, NCsoft doesn't have an all access pass. And an all access pass wouldn't really work for them because their most popular games are either free (in the case of Guild Wars) or aimed mostly at the Asain Market (in the case of Lineage). so if they don't have an all access pass, then they are pretty much just flushing money down the toilet by running servers for games that nobody plays. I actually am proud of NCSoft for having the guts to admit when a game is doing poorly and being willing to take action by shutting it down (while also working to keep customers happy by refunding their subscription time and buying them extra games to boot). SoE on the other hand is too stubborn to do this, doesn't care about keeping customers happy and refuses to admit their mistakes. To this day they still tell people what a good idea the NGE was.
A little correction is in place.
EverQuest 2 is still doing pretty good! They still have around 250k subscribers, wich isn't bad at all!
It's safe to say that at this moment EverQuest 2 is their best running game at this moment. With EverQuest 1 coming in close second.
The Shadow Odyssey brought in some really great improvements into the game, a lot of people welcomed. So EverQuest 2 isn't going anywhere any time soon. It's here to stay for a long while.
In fact, EverQuest 2 has build up a very loyal fanbase, just like with EverQuest 1. That's the advantage you have with a much older, more mature playerbase. They tend to stick around a lot longer and don't jump from game to game on each opportunity.
And basically, that is exactly the same now with LOTRO.

Just a shame Spellborn screwed up with their publishers Frogster and Acclaim! ![]()
Who in earth ever had the idea to split up the European playerbase by throwing the UK on the NA servers?!
And by the looks of it, even more EU countries will be split up by this whole Acclaim deal.
So the game hasn't even been launched yet and they already make the wrong decisions! ![]()
As appearently both Spellborn and Acclaim have no clue whatsoever how the European Market works!
So I wish them good luck if they continue with this dividing mess and IP blocks.

This! And the IP Blocking has already begun, as UK players seem now already to be redirected to the Acclaim site now according to the last post by a UK player on the TCOS forums.
I have never ever seen such a stupid stupid deal in breaking up the UK and the rest of europe from eachother an throw UK players on US servers with time differences of 5 to 8 hours!
It's just financial suicide already and the game hasn't even released lol.
But then again.... These days.... nothing suprises me anymore.
I hate to say it but if the game fails because of this then they only have themselves to blame ....
It's all about money! Frogster appearently doesn't have that much connection with Europe and has it's largest client base in Asia. Hence they also provide the Asian Launch of TCOS.
So appearently Acclaim saw a lot of $$$ signs in their eyes and grabbed the UK in their licence deal.
Altho anyone with some functioning braincells in their head would have known this is not going to work!
1. You got mixed gaming communities, large guilds, etc who consists of many UK players together with other European players. They will now all skip this game because of this stupid deal!
2. Time differences between UK and US. Ranging from 5 up to 8 hours!
So yes, you are correct somewhat. They blew a lot of potential players and thus money ..right into the water!
So stupid. Such a shame.
