    • Leveling Race!
    • No leveling race for me, I had three WoW accounts and on the 14th the final one lapses, no more subscription fees for Blizzard. I'm not going to go through the process of leveling up another ten levels and restart gearing my Toons again, there are too many games out there that are of a higher quality and actually stick with their level cap. I'm sure that eventually all games start finding ways to keep long term players going but this method of raising the level cap just pisses me off.

So I'm glad Blizzard is having a good showing, but they should just remove the level cap altogether if this is going to be their trend.

    • Do Female Characters Get Treated Better?
    • I've long held that a toon is a toon, then along came TeamSpeak and Ventrilo and with them the ability to determine whether or not a player was male or female. I've found there are so many sexually frustrated males playering online games that they will let female players get away with a great deal just so they can harbor the fantasy of talking with a girl, something that seems to be beyond their ability away from the keyboard.

I was in a few guilds in WoW that were run by female gamers and those gals were getting away with some particularly vile remarks that wouldn't have been tolerated from a male. There are a few areas of discussion imo that should be off limits in general discussion within an organisation such as a guild/corporation/kinship etc... Politics, Religion and Country Bashing. I know there are some areas that you might add or take away from that list based on whether or not you're in a family based guild or adult based one, none of these areas are off limits in a private discussion but in general chat you should do your level best to keep everyone interested in remaining in the group.

Okay so much for the soapbox sorry, the OP asked whether or not females get preferencial treatment and I say that prior to TS and Vent it was a moot point but post TS and Vent I say they absolutely get preferencial treatment. They get to go on more Raids, get group offers more often and for those that try a little too hard, get given items out of the blue on a regular basis. Now some of the gals do play it up a bit and thats quite iritating, but there are some and these are in the minority I might add that just want to be one of the gang and keep things on a professional level as much as is possible in an online game.

    • Having tried it, what do you think of the new patch?
    • My impression is it blows chunks, I kept a couple of accounts active because my daughter likes to play the game and I would go into the game with her when she played. The problem is this, I let my daughter use an older computer and this patch has gone beyond its capabilities and simply will no longer load. I worked with one of Blizzards Tech types and after a 30 minute wait on the phone and about 10 minutes of actual live tech support time I was informed that the computer, its software and hardware would not work with the new graphics engine.

So in one fell swoop we were forced out of the game, for me thats no big loss but my daughter isn't very happy about it. Now I'm not about to go out and drop more coin on a new computer just to go back and play WoW. If I do purchase a new computer we'll be starting up with a new game. So way to go Blizzard, thanks for giving me a concrete reason to finally leave WoW.

Just remember... if somebody's a complete twit online, offer to go to their house so they can say these things straight to your face.  You might laugh when you get there for one of the following reasons:

      A) Their mother answers the door while they peer out the window from upstairs.
      B) They call the police for fear of you (I'm 5'9", 130 lbs, not very scary.  Make sure you keep a log on you of the conversation where he/she gave you the address).
      C) Bring a condom (happened once... no joke)
      D) Notify SOMEBODY that you're going there just in case.

All in all, I've done this 8 times and counting.  Never once has the person actually managed to say anything to my face they repeatedly said online for weeks prior... nor have they used the same attitude.

One guy was 38 and still living in his mother's basement in Kansas City... which was even better then the 15 year old kid who sent his mother to the door to get rid of me.

Don't stand for them to be douchebags, put them on the spot!

Insanity Note: I have had a gun pointed at me when I got there... there was no talking but I'm pretty sure he was scared.

Monetary Note: Doing this is VERY expensive... do so as your funds are available and you're sure you'll gain the upper hand overall.

What a load of bull... and if it were true you'd end up on "To catch a predator".  Guns and condoms... yeah right.

Perfect example of what the OP was talking about.
