      they have already..

No, no, you misunderstood, we said an objective opinion.

Just to clarify what I "hope" Kyleran is attempting to defend me on... MMORPG Italia's preview/review/holyshit, was far from objective.  It honestly read like more fluff from Adventurine.  I really want a dirty review of the beta, and not some dreamy, walk through the park with our Adventurine friends, I just want the truth.

I'm really done with the self-publicizing that they've been doing, everything's always talked up, never down.  It's really discouraging.

*EDIT* And yes, to add.  I do know that the "review" isn't finished yet because they've to get back to their offices...But that still doesn't change the fact that what was there, was "very" positive.

You nailed it on the head.  I was calling for an objective preview of the game, however recalling previews by major game magazines of other titles and they read a lot like this one.  Aventurine is doing what most other companies do, control what is released about their game before release.

Someone posted the link to the DF forums where its clear that Tasos put severe limitations on what could be said about the game and I do not expect any future "reviews" by the Italians to be any more objective (i.e. discuss the negatives) than the preview was. It just won't be permitted.

Oh well, Aventurine can't hide forever. I suspect the 2008 date is out the window, and if so, they'll be rightly cruicified for it.  Not so much because they missed the date, but more for trying to maintain a charade up till the bitter end, which is their trademark.

Doesn't look like Stadden thinks its worth their time to preview the game at this point, as it will be nothing but a carefully controlled PR visit which certainly doesn't justfy the expense of the trip.

One final note to Downtoearth (what a misnomer if ever there was one)  You have proven yourself to be a hardcore fanboi without a shred of objectivity, or perhaps even basic understanding of software developement.

You are determined to defend DF against any rational argument, and call all who do so trolls.

If that's your definition, then I most certainly am a troll, and will wear the title with pride.

All development has been done in Oslo, Norway. This office is not affected at all.

      Funcom had customer service staff?

Contrary to what all the people post - this site is 100% impartial, unless my employees have some hidden agendas that I am unaware of - as the person who sells 100% of the ad space here I assure you that no favors are ever given for purchasing advertising...not that it is not tried by advertisers (normally small ones not large companies) - I would never allow this on MMORPG.com - ever.

You changed the direction when you started flooding this site with advertisements and user-created content. This is irrelevant to the thread subject, so let's not discuss this hear. If you'd like to hear my views on this, then I'm more than willing to share, so please contact me via pm.

We have always stuck to the basic three ads per page - with the exception of the new home page and game list "skins" we do now this is still the same.  We have to make profits or we will shut the site down.  We have 6 full time employees to pay, massive hosting costs, equipment, travelling costs, and the list goes on and on.

User content is what the people want - and we need to compete.  This is a business, make no mistake - but an honest one.  We will always take the site in the direction we feel the community wants - and blogs guild systems and galleries are all things we need to do to compete in our market.

      Reported for being off-topic!

I'm sorry, but I just had to do that.

But I'd love to see MMORPG.com be the first major site to get some exposure to the mysteries of DF.

I don't like PvP combat.
I think it is the best part about MMORPG's.
I don't care either way.
