Honestly dude, if I were you I'd go for Warhammer Online. Many reasons, aside from the game being at level (in my opinion) with WoW, it also has a good population. I don't play it cause I hated the service (in Europe) provided by GOA.
Anyway, the best Raiding game (aside from WoW) I've heard of is Everquest 2 . Maybe you should give it a shot mate.
Aion will probably be a little too hardcore for you I believe. PvP is one of the main themes of the game, and you'll see it a lot more then in WoW. No optional PvP either mate. Keep that in mind.
16 hours play time. You can play the trial in your own personal time. One hour a week if you want, and still be able to play.
You don't have to level to enjoy and do most things in the game right away.
Just try the trial. It's not 16 hours from creation, it's 16 hours of being ingame time. Take your time, you can as many days as you want, but game time will total up to 16 hours eventually and trial is over.
Plenty of time in my opinion....
I played one of the very few MMOs last year which was still FFA PvP. There is nothing like it, the experience, the fear, the adrenaline rush, the massive ffa battles, or 3 or even 4 way fights everyone just fighting eachother for different reasons. The politics, the everything!! It's one hell of an experience when a guild and an individual player is allowed to choose his enemy.
I have nothing against people who want a PvE system, but in my opinion Darkfall is NOT that game. The dev team themselves are hardcore pvp fans and some were against the idea of even putting in PvP, but thank god they did.
A game without a little PvE can become dull. Anyway, I have to be honest, this game is a long time comming and putting the option of flagged PvP would be a massive mistake. There just is no design for it and it would just ruin the whole scope of the game.
I ain't a griefer, I just love what comes with FFA PvP; Guild Politics, confusion, the fear and knowledge that you could always be attacked/ambushed. The fact that you can rob someone of his equipment. The fact that you can be the hero killing the griefers. So many different possibilities....thats what I love about FFA....so many possibilities so much freedom to do whatever you want to do.
Actually....just to have a laugh....I've been following the game for a year now. Since they first went public and started beta I've been following this game. The producer of the game, and what all the devs call the boss is actually intending not to market this game in the wrong areas. They don't care for a high population. This game isn't an MMORPG.....it's an MMORTS....so people don't represent one character, but a whole empire. Population ain't too important.
Another thing, which is the funny part is the producer told everyone very early on in ventrillo that he wanted to avoid any mentioning in game sites like MMORPG.com, Gamespot, Hi5 and other sites where there is a crazy and immuture community. So they targeted the more mature and less hyped sites. They don't care for having subscriptions like WoW. This game is their dream game and they want a mature community playing it. They don't want little kiddies whining and flaming on the website and screaming how the game is too hard or too difficult (which it is....massive learning curve for good reasons!!!)
This game has been in planning for many many years...if I remember right a decade if not more (I could be wrong there). They were planning it back in the 1990s. Thats all I remember. Just so you know the is the ultimate, hardcore sci-fi RTS on an MMO level which every Empire building RTS gamer has been dreaming of.
Just to mention a few features:
Create and modify your own units - Modify every component of a unit...from the engine to its armour all the way to the material used....you can even modify the material itself!! I was serious when I said Hardcore. There is no ultimate unit by the way.....research improves a unit mainly...you can't just put loads of massive guns on a cruiser and expect it to be unbeatable. There are always down sides without proper balance.
A whole universe of planets to conquar (although game mechanics make that almost impossible) - You can colonise as many planets as you want, and all have their own resources, which get depleted but eventually return in a random area (random area including any other planet). Resources on a planet are always changing from type to location on the planet aswell. You will never have a resource respawn in the same location...it can spawn anywhere on the planet (where there are no buildings of course.
War on a Galactic scale, with planetary battles to massive space battles with space stations...the works.....Planetary bombardments....spaceships shooting from space on to the planet (like artillery).
Other Features: Diplomacy, espionage, alliances, galactic scale battles with many players fighting eachother on several fronts.
As I said before this is an empire building RTS gamer's dream game comming soon. Apply for the beta at http://www.beyondprotocol.com/
And remember....it's an empire building game.....and an MMORTS.....and it's hardcore.....massive learning curve, so if you don't like it because it's too hard, just leave it alone....don't stay whining just unistall the game. Many of us Beta testers find this game to be ingenious, a real work of art. And brilliantly deisnged, although there have been many changes in the game as well. A lot of the planning they did was in the programming structure for the server. It has an incredible amount of stuff going on...imagine each unit with it's individual components (shields, engine, armour, guns) damage, ammunition. Hard core...

BTW..a controller fix is something you cannot fix on the help channel because of the complexity of the issue.
Ok, but it might have been nice if someone at least replied and told me that. But I suppose that would have been too much to ask for.
Oh Well.
Well you probably asked at a time where people were not watching the help channel and those who were, didn't have an answer for you. Besides help channel is players helping players. It's just a normal channel all players can join which is dedicated to helping new players learn the game.
Now the problem here is what technical people would label a "User Problem". The reason it's a "User Problem" is because the user is the one with the problem, not the game. If other players can play the game with their CH joysticks, and you can't.....why does it have to be the game is broken?....I guess because you said so....
I suggest you figure out whats wrong on your side, or you'll miss out on a possibly great game (depends on your taste and what you are looking for in the end).
The best thing about WWII Online / Battleground Europe.....It filters out those impatient whiney little squeeky kiddies and the impatient weirdos who haven't matured enough yet. If you ain't one of those people....prove it by cooperating and accepting peoples help and not whining about how the game sucks and how people don't want to help you because they didn't answer you, and how the devs don't care about you cause you can't access the forum. There are many other ways to get in touch with the developers. Submit a support ticket from the support page. The devs don't really care for your subscription, if you're going to be an annoying pesky customer. They want their community to remain as it is, clean enjoyable, mature, positive and fun.
