It was a moment that I realized that it might be me who is out-of-touch with gaming.

A fake video, a burnt-out college student, in World of Warcraft, training his raid-party.  Funny? Stupid.  Stupid funny? Not at all.

I think the more you know about pen and paper rpgs, as appose to Wow per se, the more you appreciate this clip. If you see it as inherently absurd as well as the bastion of the socially less adept (despite being really nice peolpe) the funnier it is. When I first saw it one late night online I almost <bleeped> my pants laughing because it was the standard game of d&d gone horibly awry, in a way they sometimes do, but to see it so vividly was hysterical, and how seriously they seemed to be taking it was the creme de la creme. So funny in its nerdiness and mayhem. Even the name of the guild "Pals4Life" captured so much of what fantasy wargaming was, some of the charm. Despite being staged, its a total classic that kinda allows us to laugh at ourselves and that absurdity of gaming I talked about before.

    • WHY IS IT SO EXPENSIVE TO PLAY? 300 HRS limit in a month? come on
    • Obviously if the OP was paying $14.99 a month he wouldn't be complaining. MMO's charge different rates based on their location and its economic superstructure. For example the same game 2.5 million US players paid $50 for and $15 month, Chinas 6 million subs got for free and pay 6 cents an hour for. I mean why elso would wow be posting its firsy billion dollar year?

    • Whats everyone opinion on why this game isnt super big?
    • Btw, I know its a digital superhero fantasy world, but can we get real for a second here? I have never seen devs give a frig about who said what where or how once they decided to do something, least of all any dev ever affiliated with cox. The only reason they are taking into account and implementing anything any current player says (which supposedly they already had on file) is because Lighthouse leaked the truth that they could give a rats hind parts about the current pvp playerbase. That's it. Lucid arguments have never meant anything to any incarnation of cox management and this is no different. Not that Champions Online will be any better, but NCsoft has enjoyed its domination of this niche market for too long, and until it has some competition out there neither your opinion, nor mine, means anything to them unless apparently, to save face.
