    As concerned as I am about Darkfall's release at this point, the quote that you provided was from Shaar.  Shaar is merely a fan as far as I know; he is not Aventurine staff.  Also, I believe that English is not his first language, so you can see how he might not have used the best words.  Hell, he could have simply misunderstood. 

    Be sure to give this thread a bump in mid December though...

    
     

    Shaar was quoting Tasos from the game conference in Greece which Aventurine hosted.  Hell, even Tasos mentioned that date in the videos from the conference as well.  Do your homework.

• • Taking another look at the "Features" in Darkfall.

  • That is another thing that bugs me.  Tasos says the game is "feature complete" yet we have no concrete list of features that are in the game.  We've been given a lot of clues to a lot of thing we will be able to do, but some stuff is wishful thinking by fans and other stuff has been mention in a lot of different places Tasos.  Where the wishful thinking and realities are is anyone's guess.  There is no central list of what is going to be in the game and that bugs.  Why?  Without it, we can't hold Tasos accountable because there is no doubt these forums will be wiped before release, and once that happens Tasos can always say, "I didn't say that was in, but something we wanted to get in."

    he said playtesting which is open beta. uninterrupted for a few weeks. right now there doing wipes very often so it snot in playtesting stage yet.

    this next week the wipes wont happen. hey mite have stopped already

     

    
     

    From what I understood there was no real indication that the playtesting phase would be anything besides by invitation only.  I've seen them talk about ramping up their invite numbers, and I assume they're doing that, but I can't ever recall seeing any official word that any test phase would really be open to everyone.

    That's very true...  perhaps more if they plan on giving the server a real shakedown.  It did sound like they were inviting more and more people in on a regular basis.  I wonder how many people they have testing it now.

    Still, I don't expect to see them opening up the beta to the whole community.  It just doesn't seem to fit with the rest of their beta strategy.

    Except of course where he did say: "open Beta".   I'm sure that everyone thought he meant by "invite only" when he said "open Beta"; because that's what OPEN BETA always means. 

     

    But yeah... we are kinda used to these words getting re-invented.  At least for any long-time follower of DarkFall that is.  It appears its already starting again...

    Yep, and next they'll be saying he didn't really mean that EVERYONE would get a chance to try before buying DFO.  People are already starting to defend that comment as well.

    Simply amazing.  You announce an end date to an open beta that has yet to start with out ever mentioning a start date while you are in a closed beta that also has no end date.
