My experience last night in a level 42 sync party was great. The party setup was (Elvaan WHM Me)

Samurai, Dragoon, Red Mage, THF, DRK,  our party did great most of the 4 hours we stayed together.

The samurai Tanked and the Dragoon back uped tanked.  We got well over 13,000 exp in thsoe 4 hours which is not bad for that level. I belive I leveled twice. and got about 1/2 way into my next level. I was the 42. So now I am 44 1/2

I think tanks are useful and as a growing WHM and veteran Dragoon, I can say that a party without a tank is possible, and not all that hard if there is backup healing. Maybe it was just because Samurai really was a tank originally planned. But who knows, maybe we were just a solid group that played on each other's streinghts. Anyways Tanks for me are not a must have, A samurai can tank just as good as a warrior/monk and I have partied with warrior/monk as tank even up in the mid 60s. So its doable and honestly not that hard, Its peoples own mind that keeps them from experimenting these combinations.

A Monk or a Samurai From my personal experience can be main tank, Especially Galkas lol.

So... for your situation..if you didnt have a provoker or at least a Dragoon Samurai or something like that....then you are going to die, you need some one to provoke period. Be that a Dragoon samurai, Ninja warrior, paladin whatever you NEED some one to voke.

Only thing is, he was 24 (in the jungle i would assume) and was pretty much all mages except the monk.  You were 42 (later 44) and had a THF, DRG, SAM, and DRK.  People who could cause enough damage that you could probably come close to cure bombing before getting a sliver of hate.

Mana burn parties.  Still very doable and infact, my LS is starting a static party for exactly this.

@ OP.  You should be able to play WHM naked for pretty much the first 30 levels.  No tank is going to be death.  Whoever told you otherwise needs to find their way to your blist because they're gonna wind up in your party again and you're just going to die to their stupidity again.  A Tarutaru, like previously stated can have the best +1 gear and you're going down in about 3 hits.  Because, again, like previously stated your gear wont be good for defense, just for +MND or +MP or +rMP.  Once you get out of the jungle is when your gear is really gonna make that much of a difference in what you're doing.  And i'm serious as hell that you should put this guy on your blist.  I have about 70 people on mine because, well, people are just stupid.

I see its easier to solo, and possible to solo, Which i like.  I see with 4 expansions they added ATON,

Now i played back when the first expansion came out (imported) up until the US release came out. i never got pass the 20s, just hated sitting on my ass all day doing nothing but spamming THF LFG. so i want to try this game, and was wondering if its worth giving it a shot.

My other question, What class should  i play? I want something that can solo while LFG, and something groups want.   Ive played aton of diffent classes on other mmo so i can play anything, Currently im the Main tank of my WoW guild. and i love being important in a guild, But if i should go a solo class at first  i will

Thinking of going back to my old server Bahamut, hope the population is still large.

I think that you're going to find that it's still not WoW.  It's not really solo friendly but they're adding some things to do while LFP but no idea to what extent the exp is going to be really helpful or not.  You're not gonna party with just people from your LS so being the important person isn't gonna really matter.  Also, tanking in WoW isn't like tanking in FFXI unfortunately.  Please don't take this as being rude or a flame in absolutely any manner, i just don't think this game is going to be the ne for you.  However, i could be wrong.  Bound to happen at some point i'm sure.

Are these new classes like Blue Mages and Puppetmasters viable in the endgame?

There is Assaults, Nyzul Isle, Campaign, Besieged, NM's, Sky, Sea, Dynamis, Salvage, Einherjar, ZNM's, Meriting and HNM's.  I may have missed something.  Also, a good bit of missions you need to be 75.

    • Need honest advise
    • @OP

A friend of mine is looking to come back so i thought i'd look some prices up for her.  The Vana Collection 2008 is 20 bucks at gamestop.com.  That's the original, Zilart, Chains, Treasures, and Wings games.  All for 20 bucks.  I nearly passed out.  I dont know how they are doing this for 20 bucks but there it is.  So you have a couple options.  You can spend 20 bucks on a game and 4 expansions and get the first month free or try the 14 day trial.  Personally, 20 bucks for all that would be my suggestion.

This game is not solo friendly.  There are a few jobs you can solo on but then you're just limiting yourself and the subjobs for those jobs, aren't solo friendly.  Like stated, there is an "event" that SE is putting out that will make getting exp while LFP easier but noone has any details on that yet.  They are, however, adding a few things that are bringing in new players and old players alike.  My friend was sold on Level Sync because she quit and i continued on.  I now have 2 jobs at 75 (2 more on the way) and she'd be starting over.  But now it's not a problem as we can sync.

I do reccomend this game but if you are looking for something that you can play for a few minutes and log off then check out Lord of the Rings.  I played it during beta and for a while after initial release (and a few days a few weeks back during a "Come back" campaign) but wasn't my cup of tea.  Crafting was too simplistic and the game just seemed like "Easy mode" after playing FFXI for so long.  FFXI makes you work for stuff and makes you work *hard* for the good stuff.  But when you sport that piece of armor or weapon, you can raise your head high knowing that others will see it and now "Damn, he busted his ass for that".
