The problem is that it really depends on how you define casual. I have a level 50 minstrel, and I am now struggling through the epic quests, currently on book X or so. I am in a nice kin, who help out with the epic quests sometimes, and I even occassionally take part in raids.
However, my real problem is not hat I don't have much time (I don't, but that is not the issue). It is that I don't have much time in one go. I have a 2 year old and a full time job. I can't really rely on having long stretches of uninterrupted time, and often by the time we have set up a group, I need to go again. I have also pissed people off by joining a PUG and then having to leave half an hour into the group quest to attend to a wee girl who can't sleep. And I just don't get much personal satisfaction out of having my kin group up with me to "help out" on an epic quest they have done ages ago - it just feels too much like charity.
To some extent, this is my own fault. Maybe I just shouldn't play MMOs. I find myself restricted to soloing, so I can just log off or take a break whenever I need to, but that sort of defeats the point of an MMO.
I think if LotRO had more public quests, like Warhammer has, where you meet people while you are soloing and join up in a casual way, then it would be a little more casual friendly. At the moment it really isn't.
I came back to LotRO about a month ago, after being away playing AoC. I also remembered the game as having gret graphics, but was a little disppointed when I got back in. I suspect it is just the characters aren't as lifelike or as well animated as the AoC ones.
However, after getting back into the game, I really don't notice it and think the graphics are great again. It is amazing how much fun gameplay makes up for poor graphics (as long as they aren't too poor).

What amazes me is they keep offering it.
Not at all. The older the game gets the better the deal for Turbine, and the worse the deal for the player. I also bought lifetime back in April 07, so my lifetime fee bought me years of gametime. Someone who buys a lifetime sub now, pays the same money but gets much less time (if we both play to the day the servers close).

I'm not really used to being called a neanderthal in a review given by a legitimate site.
It is quite clear that the reviewer was not calling everyone who plays AoC a Neanderthal. Just a section of the player base who exhibit anti-social tendencies.
It is also interesting that you instantly associated yourself with the Neanderthals...
In balance I think I agreed with the review 100%

Personally I liked DDO more than LOTRO based on the quests and combat you get but DDO's population just didn't let me have fun. LOTRO has a great population but also there are enough solo quests that if you find yourself not getting a group right away you can do other things.
I agree pretty much 100% with this. I am even considering going back to DDO with the next patch (which is supposed to make it more solo friendly).
