    • How about a link from the actual game forum, because I can't find this info anywhere over there. A link to a post you made on this forum supporting what you say is not proof.

      Its actually kind of sad.

I do want to see where you got the information though. I honestly looked and can't find it.

    • You're gonna be disappointed. Ex posted today that other then some small tweaks, i13 pvp will go live as is.

She also explained that the i13 beta testing of pvp was a bust because after the first couple of days the pvpers decided to just throw fits and tantrums instead of helping test. Sounds to me like the pvpers have no one to blame but themselves.

You apparently havent been readin Ex's most recent posts about pvp. Every single thing the pvpers asked for was taken to the devs and tried and every single thing failed due to problems with how powers worked. Something drastic had to be done and thats what they did. The fact that the "hardcore" pvpers can't accept it is not anyones fault.

If you want things changed you can't just post on the forums, you have to play the game so that they can do the datamining and get the numbers.

Lastly, lighthouse quit. End of story.

    • And yet your theory is proved false by my previous post. You have no idea why he left. he hasn't said why and all you are doing is jumping to conclusions.

There have been very few constructive posts against the new system. The useful ones have sadly been drowned out by the trolls and immature children that give the pvp community a bad name.

    • This is what Lighthouse said.

Earlier today I posted a response about the PvP changes where I said:

      Quote:
      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We knew that the current PvP community wasn't likely to react well to the changes as they wern't who we were making changes for, so it's understandable that there is continuing complaints from that segment.

      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After posting it, I received a lot of justifiable criticism for doing so internally from the rest of the Development Team. Upon reflecting on the statement, I agree that it was in poor taste of me to do so and I was in error. Additionally the statement was not accurate, nor reflective of the goals and ideals the Development Team.

Many of the changes for PvP have been decidedly for the current PvP community and in fact much of the changes have been in direct response to current issues of that community.

I want to apologize for the statement and ask that any ire taken from it be directed at me for my error and not at the Developers who are working very hard on Issue 13.

This is what posi said in an interview.

Matt Miller: Issue 13 started off having all sorts of new features tied around PvP, simply because it was a system that we had not put as much attention towards in the past. When we began to play these new systems, the feedback we got was that none of them were any fun. This was really disappointing, since they looked good in design. When we drilled down to exactly why they were not fun, we came to the sobering realization that the lack of fun wasn’t the new systems’ fault, it was PvP as a whole that was limiting. Certain powersets dominated. Certain ATs were impossible to beat. Certain tactics were fun, but only for the person employing them. For everyone else these tactics bordered on “frustrating”, “annoying”, and a plethora of other words that are antonyms for “fun”.

PvP as a whole needed to be fixed. We’d let the current system get into a state where only a small handful of our players actually used it. If we were really going to invest in these new PvP systems, we needed to get the current PvP game to be accepted and used by more than just that handful of players. Floyd “Castle” Grubb and his team poured over datamines, made a whole slew of changes to the way powers behaved, and even went so far as to pre-tackle sticky issues like many-on-one ganking.

As a player of CoH I am excited to see what my Dominator will bring to the table in PvP after Issue 13 goes live. The playtests have been nothing but fun here in the office, and I hope that the efforts of Castle and his crew can be tried out by people who have been turned off by PvP in the past. I urge everyone who found PvP in CoH to be frustrating and un-fun to come back and check it out in Issue 13.

If you actually took the time to read what posi said you would see that adding the things the PvP community wanted did not add any enjoyment and would not draw more people into PvP.

It makes perfect sense to a reasonable person that they revamp the PvP system to get more people involved before they spend a large chunk of time adding rewards. The problem with PvP is the rediculous gank fest and immaturity that permeates it in this game. If these changes get rid of that I am all for it.

Lighthouse will be missed by me as well, he seemed like a decent guy.
