So Funcom is using their brains. It shouldn't be any type of news but it is. Someone managing a big game company takes a look at the market and find a good moment to reach a really good position in the mmorpg business. I'm talking about Age of Conan and Anarchy Online. Don't you see it?. Age of Conan appears to be a good game. It's not a native sandbox game but it have some features, good character customization and player cities. The game will launch this year, or at least we hope so. There is no Modern "Adult" Fantasy game on the market in this times. I mean, fantasy game suited for adult players. Sure you can play EQ2, it's a good game, but it doesn't have an Adult Art direction. Sure you can play Lotro but it doesn't too, and its a good game too. The same goes for some more AAA titles, good games but not aimed natively for adult players. I'm sure a good amount of people will leave their actual games to try AoC only because this one have a Mature art design. Like Oblivion, or Gothic 3.
And, someone on Funcom took a look at the sci-fi mmorpg's market and thought, hell, there is no modern sci-fi games out there:
Eve online: I know it's a good game, but it's too hardcore for most of us.
SWG: I played it in November and December of 2007... Most of us know what a Joke of game it is.
Anarchy Online: It's an old game with outdated graphics... Doh!, well... Funcom will give AO a brand new graphics engine.
IMO, Funcom is trying to earn a good share of the mmorpg market by launching a good fantasy game and relaunching a good sci-fi game. Good for Funcom!

The North American servers are going the same way. I play on Volkmar and the past two weeks on the weekends barely hit MED pop for both sides. During the week it's LOW :( We were one of the most popular servers at launch.
sad sad..
I want to make one thing clear, i am not a WH hater. I am sad and angry about the Developers and MJ. They are to slow, they are watching their horse dieing.
I dont understand the strategy behind this. You develop a game for 5 years then watch it dissapear.
Maybe they already know servers will be closed. No, Im not saying servers will be closed, I'm saying, If they "really" do nothing about their game maybe they already know it will be a waste of time. Maybe EA asked them for a determined amount of sales on launch and they didnt get them, who knows.

Also the reason I post this is because of my recent run in with Spellborn. Another game where I am forced onto a rail and simply train through all of the content. Why is it that since the days after UO/EQ we are now forced into the mindless grind unable to wrench ourselves from it? Why is it now that games reward us with experiance for completeling menial taks likes giving someone a book or handing someone a letter. Why is it that the act of killing does not grant us experiance but the dialouge afterwords does?
If you only want to kill stuff dont play a mmorpg, play a fps. There are some fantasy themedfps out there.

Does anyone else get the feeling that these guys are prejudice against the west and USA in general?
Basically all of their press and dealings with the media the last several months since Warcry journals ended have been solely with European based media. Greece, now an italian MMO site it seems.
Why are they letting in a bunch of unknown guys from some unknown italian based MMO site when they could easily just let in staff from mmorpg.com, get 10x the publicity and 10x the credibility?
Makes 0 sense.
First Italy is one of the 7 more industrialized countries in the world, so no,they are not a bunch of guys from some unknown place. There is more world out of the USA.
Second, their are a small company and they probably do what they can. Maybe nobody from mmorpg.com staff or warcry oranyother web asked for a beta spot.
But I need to give you a point. They will probably get a lot more publicity by doing the same with a big international website like mmorpg.com.

Well as most of you guys will know the chances of UK players and other EU players playing together are very slim,I thought I would start this thread just too show the devs how much this is a bad idea and how we want to have ALL european players on the same servers.
Please sign if you feel the same or at least support the idea.
Thanks guys.
