    • Help me complete my gems of games list
    • I am looking for those special/cool/original/weird/different kind of games. Here are a few I've found so far so you might get an idea what I am looking for:

      - Armadillo Run

      - Defcon

      - Portal

Any other suggestions that fits in the special/cool/original/weird/different category that you have played and would recommend?

    • No Worthwhile Items To Be Found From Drops In AOC???

I do have a concern after reading some reviews though. Gamespot had this comment:

"The prospect of new loot, often a major reason to push forward, isn't as exciting as you'd hope, either. As you level, you'll find that few looted items are helpful, and the limited inventory space (even after buying an extra bag) can make dropped items more of a nuisance than a pleasure."

Is this accurate? I also talked to two players that I know who have had the game since it released. One is at level 37, the other at 40. Both confirmed that the items you get via drops are simple things with a small + to something or other, or similar things.

I'm honestly not sure if this game will hold my interest. I came from playing Ultima Online, then Diablo, and D2 for years,  WOW, etc. The chance to find cool weapons and armor, etc. are one of my favorite things from all of those games. The ability to use them to change the way your character plays, or their attributes are my favorite part of gaming. Does AOC really not offer anything of interest in this category?

UO was once the greatest game ever.

      Then they made Trammel.

      Then they made it item-based.

I wish i could get my old UO back. Right now, AoC is the closest I can seem to get.

Actually, I'm pretty sure most people who've played a melee class (probably most people who've played period) are aware of this feature.

Still, when doing a combo, and entering the "passcode" that activates it in the form pressing the directional keys, you can't change the direction of attack - a combo always hits  from the same direction and can't be changed.

There really isn't that much more depth to the melee system than you'll find in any other game.

Additionally, casters are exempt from this "fun" system - they just spam buttons exactly the same way as in other games.  This, of course, leads to some imbalance in things like PvP (those that have to "DDR" to use their special attacks versus those that don't).

It's an interesting system, but to me, it's more of a novelty than it is anything substantively different.  And it can become tedious.

    • Notice how this just sinks to the bottom, while people keep "discussing" the tediousness of combat  in other threads.

What are your views on PvP?

I don't like PvP combat.
I think it is the best part about MMORPG's.
I don't care either way.
