All I can say is that thier internet bombardment of advertising does work. I had gone away from wow (prolly about my 10th time - as I just get bored) and made the mistake of saying to myself, "Ok, so whats all the fuss with this lich king?'' . Well, now i am resubbing with the battle chest and WotLk CE in hand. Sigh.. I must say, I am impressed with the improvement of the graphics and achievement system, something the game sorely needed to appeal to collector of title RP MMOers in us all.
That being said, I would like Blizzard to focus on some of the more RP aspects of the MMORPG title, as they seem ot create grand sweeping lands/raids and bosses, it would be good to get down and dirty with roleplaying (something EQ2 does really well) with say Ädventiure expansion packs, small interconnected quests that drip with lore. Also, something more with Guilds, not just raiding, perhaps some form of "Guild Quests änd guild levels and points, to really immerse you in the world.
You have a solid base with the three products, lets get down and make it the world people want it to be!
I know they have a few projects in the pipeline (Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3), but they wont ignore thier cash cow, and I was curious as to what could be next? I would imagine, yet another land, another hero class (alliance geared this time) and perhaps even a new race - say, "The burning legion?". Stranger things have happened *cough* Drenai *cough*. Or will this be the last offical expansion to WoW, and they are now in full development of World of Warcraft II, which will be released well after the other two are - What could they do? Set it further into the future, or have an armageddon scenario with the current contienent, similar to what guild wars is doing to put people into guild wars 2.
I dunno, just cant see a sequel with this still doing so well and making money, 11 million subs, I think the graphics could use an overhaul to bring in some directX 10 features and perhaps increase the poly count for people who have the machines to run it.
Perhaps even they will do a Warcraft 4 - based ont he Starcraft 2 engine, which would be cool, it would be good to see a fresh new Warcraft RTS game, to compete with the likes of Red Alert 3.
Thoughts?
The sequel to this game should be set in this era I feel with the use of say the Unreal 3.0 engine, new classes, races, ect. A new faction, the Yuzahn Vong that can be played for PvP. Please it is time for a sequel to compliment SW-TOR, so lets get started.
Die_Scream I have yet to see you post anything positive. There is nothing wrong with hyping a game, and I have seen plenty to be hyped about. It may not be the game for you though if you cant find something you like about it.
There are millions of fans (in Australia, which I am one of) and moreso worldwide. This is good for the subscription numbers (hence the "into the millions") and this game will be fun and easy to get into for non-fans, who will then want to watch everything stargate, and hence, the game will create MORE fans!
PS - dont forget that "Stargate Universe" starts filming next year, aimed at a younger audience, and will drive the subscriptions even higher!!
Check it out!
