Thought I'd through this out there just in case there are other folks like me around. After playing a bit of WAR and getting pretty run down on most computer games and the industry in general, I took a look at what had become of the table top world and discovered that it is still alive and well. I'd never played any in my life (35 years), but I've decided that it would be nice to "unplug" a bit and do something different. I picked up the new Warhammer 40k starter box and working on painting up my first mini Ork army and I'm having a blast! Although I do keep eyeing the Warhammer Vampire Counts and Tomb Kings, just may have to pick up their books and give them a read through. Anyway, just thought I'd share an option that I'd recently stumbled upon to help me fill my need for something new to do.

I feel the same way, the lore in the game inspired me to buy a novel based on the lore. My buddy is a huge warhammer geek and we're going to be painting miniatures very soon here :)
I really like how WAR has a really strong background to it, makes it more than just another MMO.
Honestly I didn't even know folks still did table top type games and was surprised after doing a little research how many folks in DC metro area actually are involved. After a quick visit to a Games Workshop store and looking at all the pretty slick models and multiple games running in the shop I was sold.
For introducing me to the Warhammer IP and the non-online game play of table top war gaming. I felt my brain cells dying with every button mash and I'm now having a blast assembling and painting my first 40k Ork army. Although I've got an eye on that Vampire Counts Warhammer Fantasy army box. mmmmmm
This is not a WAR bash thread, just a "I needed a non-MMO plugged in activity". ![]()

It costs 6g per hour to hold the keep, can your guild afford it? Do you want to be in a guild that cannot afford to capture a keep?
QFT... and thats for a T3 Keep the T4's are more than that. I don't have my finger on the exact number at the moment, but we ran around claiming Keeps in T3 when the guild hit rank 15 I believe and quickly saw our Guild bank account go to zero in no time flat. We agreed to set it at 50% and then I also add 20% tithe because it only comes from looted mobs and not vender sales or quest rewards and after you have your rather cheap mount, what do you really need it for? Crafting mats maybe...but I don't craft and i can still afford that off piece of gear out of the AH if i need it.
Hell, I was in shock at the sheer weight of the thing when the guy handed it to me at BB.
How do you feel about advertising inside games?
