    • Heavy metal event - completely sucks in my humble opinion
    • It is a good event, imo. Fully completing it to get the unlock for the preview of the new classes takes a little bit of work. However, getting the trophy and cloak for alts is pretty easy. The cloak is definitely worth while and you can select which ever one of the four you want. So, you can either pick one you can use now, or pick one that's more powerful to use after you leveled up more.

On my main server, Reikland Factory has been popping pretty quickly. If you need to knock that scenario out quickly, only join that scenario instead of joining all.

On my secondary server, (where I play Destruction to get a handle on those classes) Reikland wasn't popping in my Tier, so I just asked in the tier wide channel for people to please queue up. Two minutes later, it popped and I got a number of runs in over the next hour.

If you are just going for the cloak, it might be possible to get it with out doing the Reikland Factory elements at all, I'm not positive though.

Reikland Factory is a nice scenario. It plays fairly quick, it takes some strategy to win and with five cap points you don't get turrtling stalemates. I also like the tunnels and walk ways, which offer avenues for sneak attacks or swift escapes.

I think it was a bad move to change the scouting quest to non-repeatable. Even if you ran it a few times in one scenario, the XP still just added up to what you would get for the regular "play X scenario" and "Kill Y players in X Scenario" quests that most scenarios offer.

      WAR (Warhammer Online)
    • Where are you (in WAR)...
    • My main is a BR 28 RR 27 Warrior Priest. My alts are many. A couple in the early 20s, the rest in the teens.

That's how I usually end up playing a new MMORPG. It took me months in WoW to get a character past the wall I was hitting at 30. Reroll and hit 40, wall. Reroll, hit 50, wall, etc...

      I don't think it's too uncommon.

I remember chatting with people waiting in line for Burning Crusade, I was surprised how few had ever reached 60 with a character.

Over dramatic, just a tad? The game is not a failure. It was one of the most polished MMORPG launches I've ever partaken in (LotRO was in the same ball park).

Yes, they screwed up by launching too many servers. The population is still fairly solid, when you factor in that people are now settling into sustainable weekly play schedules.

Mythic is working hard at fixing what's broken and improving the game. It's only been out for two months!

However, bugs/imbalance/unppolishness aside... the MAIN problems i see here with WAR that NEED to be FIXED SOON are:

      1. Population - there are too many servers and they need to be merged

This is an invalid point (on US servers). Yes, too many servers at launch. However, there is the  de facto server solution of consolidating the population via free character and guild transfers. They also very visibly warn people if they chose a low population server they are offering transfers away from. Same result as server mergers, but with out the mess.

(NOTE: I realize that things are worse in the EU, with the company running the game there lagging behind on this issue. I get the impression Mythic isn't too pleased about this, but they have to work with in the structure of their contract to "encourage" the needed changes there).

      2. Social aspects - we need item linking NOW and we need duelling NOW, as well as more emotes

I want these things too. However, hardly game breaking...

      3. More responsive combat - enough said.

Enough said? Or complaint that can't be supported with specifics?

It's not AoC combat, but it's pretty dynamic for a title that follows the traditional MMORPG mold.

If you mean lagging animations or delays in action launch, those were fixed a while ago.

Elaborate, please, because IMO combat is fine and even fun.

      4. Some kind of renovation of the keep/battle field objective system. Frankly, PVEing undefended keeps and BOs all day isn't my idea of fun... and i happen to be on the most populated EU server. Even IF there isn't some kind of increased incentive for defending, at least make the PVE part more interesting (e.g. introduce a more complex mini game for Rams, instead of just a 'click on the line' game.......)

We just got the letter from Mark Jacobs teasing a number of initiatives to improve and incentivize oRvR, keeps and battle field objectives. First steps in December, the rest in the coming months.

Just the Live Event has increased oRvR on my US server. Played T3 keep battles for two hours tonight, organized offense against stiff player defense. A lot of fun.

It all started just by asking in region if any RvR was going on. A single player was skirmishing in the RvR lake, invites went out, BOs fell and in no time there were full warbands on each side. Sometimes, it doesn't take a lot of initiative to get that snowball rolling.

      5. General bugs... especially the obvious, simple ones e.g. the dismounting bug. I mean COMMON! HOW HARD IS IT TO FIX?

They hot fix at least a couple times a week, on top of full patches. Bugs usually get squashed fairly quickly. Some seem to fall through the cracks for a while, but I've had many fixed with in a week of me reporting them.

What dismounting bug, btw? I occasionally end up ankle deep in the terrain after dismounting, but such a cosmetic bug is hardly game breaking...

      6. Make it easier to lock zones, and dont have Serpent's passage on the front all the time - or introduce a SINGLE QUEST for ALL the scenarios.

The T4 control scheme is going to get some serious work, as per the letter yesterday. This is a serious issue. Hopefully it will be addressed soon, even if by band-aid while awaiting a more comprehensive overhaul.

I agree Scenario quests need to be more accessible, to lessen the tendency for people to focus too much on one or two scenarios per tier.

With the current Live Event, Mythic had a quest giver with in the Reikland Factory scenario. This, IMO, is the way to fix the problem. In addition to quest givers at the war camps, there should be one inside each scenario, in the spawn area.

As much as I want to see this addressed, it's also hardly game breaking.

So yeah, coming from a former WAR fanboy, here are my thoughts. These issues really need to be addressed, otherwise this will  be an empty game within a very short period of time. I mean, the biggest, bestest guild on destruction side on our server all just left for another game recently... they were Server Police of Eltharion.

The game is pretty solid with tons of content addressing a number of play styles. Are there some flaws, even some serious flaws? Yes. However, most of them can and will be addressed eventually. For most people, there is still plenty to do, rather than obsessing over things you might want that aren't currently sufficiently addressed by the game.

I'm a long time, jaded MMORPG vet. One thing I've learned is everyone "hits a wall" with even the best MMORPG. If you stick with a title, or even leave and return, you will hit that wall many times. Too many people blame the game, rather than just realizing they need a breather, or at least need to look for ways to mix up the way they approach the game.

For me, personally, I'm pleasantly surprised that at the two month mark I haven't hit the wall yet. I'm still having fun and have barely scratched the surface of what the game offers. It's nice to have over 5 days played time on my main, on top of time with alts and still have a ton of content I haven't even touched yet.

Mythic is working to address the remaining issues, as well as add new content as we move forward. I'm hard pressed to think of another MMORPG that has had as solid follow up and continuing development as this one has evidenced so far.

      WAR (Warhammer Online)
    • Incoming announce on Open RvR - Currently scheduled for tomorrow
    • Wow. Very nice!

This is one thing I like about the WAR developers. They have been listening to customers and they have taken big steps, when needed, to address issues with the game.

The track record is far from perfect, but they are really trying and they have improved things a lot in under two months.

These incentives for oRvR are a major component the game has been missing. With some of these changes slated for next month, it's not "pie in the sky" stuff we see in some other games that doesn't see live until six months or more later.

If they could also fix the PvE leveling curve, itimization, introduce more crafting and add a six man dungeon to every zone, the game would be incredible.

    • MMORPGs Game Rating system is a Joke!

      And yet... here you are.

Hmm... Let me in all modesty remind you that this thread was intended to be a discussion about how MMORPG keep flashing a WAR users score of 8.57 when pretty much everybody are aware of that this score is totally off the reality. WAR did not work out quite as well as we all hoped for, the only problem is that the user rating was developed when we all hoped. If users today were to vote, after we realized the major flaws, the score would have been fare much more correct. Why is this important?

      1. We want any review to be as correct as possible. This is a particularly important point for MMO's that live their own dynamic life.

      2. MMORPG would not have suckered new players into beliving WAR is flawless, which equivalents into scamming people to buy a product that is quite different from how you describe it.

      3. If the user rating was more dynamic (like one user rating pr quarter), the rating would have pressed the developer along and they would have had to pay more attention to us users also post launch.

      Back on topic please. Comments?

Once again, you take your subjective opinion as reality and make it the core of your argument.

I find the score to be completely appropriate for the game. Others have stated the same. I've tried or played many MMORPG titles, yet the only one of the bunch I currently find worthy of my time and mine is WAR.

Why are you so obsessed in your opinion that other, reasonable people could not possibly enjoy this game or consider it one of the best current titles on the market?

Obviously, the only way for a review to "be correct" is for it to agree with your own views. Write a review, stick a number on it and publish it on a free web hosting site. Pat your self on the back for producing the only correct and accurate review of WAR on the web and be done with it.
