Have you even tried WotLK's Lake Wintergrasp or the new Strand ? The first time I entered the fortress of LW I was speechless. These are pure wargames m8. Pure wargames.
The castle and multiple walls of Lake Wintergrasp alone are as big as the complete Warsong Gulch battlefield. Multiple walls. Multiple gates. Unbelievable. That zone is h u g e .
And these walls and gates fall. The infantry is running behind the tanks. The artillery shreds you to pieces. First experience this and then come back with your personal comments please. Because I 've never seen anything like it in an MMORPG. Large scale and keep sieges? I don't think you can even compare it.
It's no RvR !!!, but as PvP, the new zones/BG in WotLK are really unmatched. So unless you're a Wow hater, I would certainly give it a try... these are not the usual capture the flag things... far from.

No one I know in guild or in game even uses xfire. Why would you use a program that takes up resources when WAR already takes up a lot?
I don't know why Vicksburg/Heben/Zodorf/Teamfortress/Bodypass/Strategy keeps posting up xfire numbers in the WAR forums and doesn't even play the game? Pretty damn pathetic and sad. If he was such a wow fanboi he would be actually playing the game which just launched an expansion instead of trolling and posting every negative piece of information in other game forums.
I never used xfire and my guild of 60+ people all don't either. Our guild is still alive and thriving and enjoying the daily world PvP which WoW lacks badly :)

Actually your English is pretty good. Nice review. I have just a few comments.
As far as instances go, the decision had nothing to do with technology. You weren't around prior to WoW to witness some of the issues that non-instanced dungeons leads to. How would you feel if you and your party of 5 waded thru dozens of mobs to get to the boss only to find another group already there and killing him repeatedly for loot everytime he spawned? And what if your group decided to try to "steal" the boss and then your group of 5 was killed by the other group there? Or what if instead of killing you directly the other group just aggro'd a bunch of mobs and then "trained" them to your party to wipe it? These were problems that other games prior to WoW had and the reason that Blizzard decided to make dungeons instanced. It avoids some issues.
Since WoW was your first MMORPG, you really weren't sure what MMORPG's were like or maybe more accurately what they should be like. You had a different vision for WoW, partially based on what the other Warcraft games had been. That's completely understandable, but at the same time I think for most people that had played MMO's before, WoW is pretty much what was expected.
DAOC had shared dungeons and they were a blast .. I think maybe the player base was more mature then say WoW's player base so you could run out or disrupt the trouble maker's to the point that they would leave the dungeon. Most if not all players were courteous to respect that the camp was taken for that time and to move on. I don't like instanced games and one reason i thought Guild Wars sucked.
Warhammer is a perfect example on how instancing can actually ruin a game experience. I'm a PVPr and in WOW the lack of or having to que for it even on PVP servers was not my cup of tea. Thats what i love about DAOC RVR system. You zone in for one purpose to take land and kill other players not to mention 200% exp bonus if you want to level in a high risk zone.
I personally don't like the casual game layout. I like to always have something to do when i log on be it combat, crafting or adventuring. Most importantly i desire the threat always looming of player vs player confrontation in an open and persistant player driven world.
People were more accepting of non instanced dungeons then because they hadn't seen the alternative. Now that people have seen the alternative, most like WoW's instanced dungeons. Sure, having shared dungeons is nice from time to time, but they cause more problems than they cure in my opinion.
Nah I actually like DF in DAOC. It was great, hope the bring back something similar in WAR. It was awesome to run in and wipe all the players in Darkness falls or be stuck inside and mount and ambush from a certain position fighting off greater numbers using baiting or kiting tactics.
WoW's still a good game, PvP in WoW just doesn't do it for me however.
WAR even with it's flaws has a few factors that keep me playing.
PvP leveling, prolific open world RvR, collision detection, living guilds, keep/fortress sieges, capturable battlefield objectives, true Oceanic based servers (not just a rename/retime),Oceanic maintenance time separate, quick response to bugs, developers post on forums keep the game improving at rapid pace.
WAR has the potential to be a great RvR game and a very different game from WoW. Sure it has bugs but wow had a ton of bugs when it released I remember, many server crashes, no endgame purposeful PvP and a broken MC. Even in DAOC RvR took quite a while to build up and become truly phenomenal. I'm sure lots of people will keep playing both for quite a while as long as they keep adding content.
I agree with Xasapas, good competition is needed to bolster the market into innovative approaches and new content. In the end it just benefits the consumer. Only consumers who are fools avidly cheer for a monopoly in any system.
Both games will feed off each other I'm sure. I'm just glad there is a good PvP/RvR alternative with the possibility of massive battles to fully utilise MMO PvP even if there are blind haters/fanbois posting on multiple accounts using only the bad stats/reviews and ignoring the good ones.
In the end their true character will shine through as the multi-account sad people have only their own shame to bathe in.
Bring the 'Massive' back to MMO PvP FTW.
