    • Was expecting more after all the positive things I was reading in these forums
    • I wanted to love VG, I still want to love VG in some ways and return but the times I have I've been disappointed sorry to say.  Someone out there wants to save it apparently because it's been limping along since release so that should give people hope.

I always felt this game had the best character generator.  I think it has one of the best living, breathing worlds to walk around in as well.  Also the dungeons really stand out to me.

The biggest problems I had with VG when I returned was the lack of economy and population (which sort of go hand in hand)  I still didn't like the perfomance level especially in cities like Khal.  Lastly, it really bothered me that drops from rare mobs were BoP.  Are all or any of these still the case in the game today?

What would any of you tell someone or a guild perhaps to try to convince them to come to VG?  What sets this game apart from the rest of the pack?  (ie: what sort of gaming experience can one find in VG that they can't anywhere else?)  What plans do the devs have for new material/expansion coming up?  How soon?  Or are they STILL just trying to fixes stuff even though it's been well over a year.

"Just play the trial island" isn't an answer or an option for me personally.  I've played for a couple of months and already have a 43RNG.  Also I know as enjoyable as starter zones can be in games that's where the most polish is for that "first impression" to set the hook in you to subscribe.

I'd appreciate any feedback and I wish you all the best of luck.

    • I actually logged on to check out this site expecting to see the people wearing the billboard that read "THE END IS NEAR" lmao.  I wasn't disappointed.

I play on Volkmar and Ironfist.  Post WotLK  everything is business as usual.  I actually hear more "I sold my WoW account right before it realeased and got top dollar"  Apparently the masses are getting wise to blizzard changing the carrot on the treadmill and calling it "new and innovative"

    • the real reason WoW is on top?
    • There are a few of reasosn WoW is "on top"

      1) good marketing

      2) it'll run on anything

      3) it's easy

      4) money invested as you say maybe after it started having success and they spent money to add content

It is like a paradox, you can't beat WoW by being the same as WoW because why not just play WoW which won't close down in X years. But to make "something completely different" likely means that this game is nowhere near the quality level of WoW and is more risky and therefore less likely to be supported.

Exactly what game is everyone waiting for to surpass WoW, it is not going to happen. Even EA and Games Wokshop with multi-million budget couldn't even get 10% of WoW's number. Does everyone think there will be a sleeper hit from an indie developer that has fresh ideas or is a new concept or does something really cool.

"Oh yeah EQ2 will beat WoW" (1 month before both games released) These forums were littered with WoW vs EQ2 threads months before and after both games come out.

Let's try sci-fi yeah cos that work out well for EnB, Tabula Rasa and HG:L and Auto Assault..

      "WoW vs AoC" - lolz

"WAR is coming" WAR came and went.

It doesn't matter what game you compare WoW with. WoW will always be on top I predict for at least 10 years. It now has 11 million subscribers and has been out for nearly 4 years and to suggest that its population will shrink enough for another MMO to usurp it is ridiculous.

Whatever game anyone suggests I will laugh at like some megolomaniacal James Bond baddie. You may as well just play WoW.

      { Mod Edit }

      1) Who cares what "kills WoW", cmon really.  Play the game you want to play.  Quit being like everyone else posting these threads and have an original thought.  You claim everything rips off WoW but then you post a thread that we as a community have seen 1000x.

      2) "WAR came and went"  ummmmmm, where did it go?  Last I checked we're still playing it and it's undergoing the same polish newly released games get.  You're comparing a 2 month game with a game that's been out for 4 years.  As some of you may remember WoW had a less than perfect release.

      3) As for what game "everyone is waiting to surpass WoW"  we're not.  Well at least the adults aren't for the most part.  Little kids care about crap like that.

      General Discussion
    • we need healers yeahhh...
    • I'm the same boat you are in.  My "main" so to speak is a 28 BW but I've rolled a healer just to contribute to the cause.

I managed to get my AM to 16 relatively fast.  So far it seems to me that WP, RP and AM are fairly even at healing although I admit I'm still noob to playing a healer.  Of the three I think RP and AM edge out WP because they get down and dirty on the front lines and mix it up a bit but I've seen them put up some really solid healing numbers.

AM is fun because if you cast damage spells here and there it boosts the cast speed/effectiveness of your heals and rezs.  I think they look a little girly in their robes but as far as their play mechanics I enjoy the class.  I just got bubble and it's REALLY handy with a mere 20 sec cd.  At level 16 I have 2 hots and one direct heal as well as a morale ability heal.  With decent gear I'm throwing out 1k+ heals at my level.  (that's not a brag, I'm sure people do more, it was just a info thing)

RP looks cool and has some nice buffs and also puts up very solid heal numbers.  I don't know enough about the class to fully comment though.

One of the biggest factors on how effective you can heal is your survivability naturally.  As an 16 AM I have a couple of def debuffs to try to help save my butt, I can bubble myself and throw a hot on myself while I run.  A decent WE drops me more often than not but then again they do that to most squishies because that's what they're built for.

On a side note, I read in the patch info they've decreased the amount of renown gained by healers.  I'm sure it was a correct fix but they said healers were getting way too much renown for combat.  I hope they didn't "fix" it too hard.  Personally I think they should give people incentives to play healers.  Kind of like if you owned a bar, you have "ladies night" drink /cover charge specials.  (ie: more women = men will follow and therefore make you more money)  Even with an incentive to play a healer I don't think the game would be overrun by them it's just a bonus to help pvp along imo.
