Not many people bashing LOTRO now either.  The bash community has moved on to .. WAR, the latest release.  And of course, people bash WoW nonstop because it is the behemoth.  But for a settled game like AoC or LOTRO, not much interest to bash, really.

This comparison though is a little unfair it's one thing to play a game realize you don't like it and state that clearly which of course is going to always happen in any games let alone mmos but this game had a deceptive launch missing whole chunks of game buggy and unplayable for lot's spin and false advertisement abound, you'd be hard pressed to find these problems in LOTRO or most other games including WAR as I've stated WAR seems much more like a general disappontment hence the lack of scathing posts flying across the main boards here does it look bad on WAR forums sure because people generally aren't happy but it hasn't in my eyes reached the level that hatred of this putrid pile did and that had much more to do with the fact that too many of the problems this game had were avoidable.

But to be serious, a lot of it has to do with GG being gone.  The new people really don't go out and say really brash and annoying things.  They sound like they are firmly set in reality and are trying to make the game better.  You have to respect them for trying to give a good experience to their players.

It's only when people like cobra/pezz/ilovefuncom/whateveraltnameheusesthisweek  comes along and starts talking nonsence that people really start flaming.

      Hmm I disagree.

More like all the people who are actually enjoying AoC are too busy playing it to bother with these forums.

Which left the flamers all alone... and the sad pandas were tired of hearing their own voices so they moved on to other topics.

Actually, I think the reduced flaming goes hand in hand with the vastly reduced overall traffic both this forum and the AoC forum have, which is also indicitive of how severely the playerbase has eroded in total.

AoC has become irrelevant to those that don't play it.

      And yet here you are.

Doesn't seem to me like you are playing AoC but it does seem like on some level it is relevant to you.

Besides despite AoC losing a lot of people in the beginning... It gains numerous players daily... and thats much more than the number of people who are leaving the game now. I don't think AoC is irrelevant in the least. As there are a lot more people waiting to return given the right conditions.

Naturally people will both join everyday as well as leave everyday in all your infinite wisdom where exactly did you get these stats that show more people joining than leaving everyday?

I think it has more to do with the fact that the game is firmly where it belongs in a niche market and FUNCOM finally stopped lying and spinning things (or is it just that no one cares to listen)

Thought I should share, just picked it up. If you spend more then 25$ you get free shipping.

The unfortunate thing for WAR and me trying it is I'm just too "fantasied" out right now, I'm planning to try SWTOR,STO,CO,Darkfall, and DCO in that order Darkfall sneaking in only because it looks like it could possibly turn into a decent sandbox game with a wide range of things to do if they can pull off everything they are trying but otherwise I just can't do anymore elves, dwarves, ale, dungeons. The genre has been played through for me and from what I know of WARs feature set there is nothing in it for my own tastes that get me excited to even try it one way or another.

So does the climber get up there and stomp their feet and cry havoc because he had to work for the experience?....I can understand annoyment but not the attitude of game-ruination that seems evident by some. And on the "underhandedness" and "greed" of SOE....people choose to pay for the cards on top of monthly sub. No one is holding a gun to anyone's head.

      There are several reasons:

      1.  It is a gambling or gambling like activity aimed at children and young adults through a video game.

      2.  SOE has legally instituted a game mechanic through which players/sites can buy and sell credits legally, so long as SOE is pocketing the real cash.  SOE maintains that credit selling is against hte terms of the EULA, except in the case of them doing it themselves through a game mechanic they create to allow it.

      3.  The only way to get this "new content" (except for an exceedingly small chance) is by paying more money, in a game that has subscription fee equal to the highest in the industry.

      4.  SWG is still a fundamentally flawed and broken game, and instead of fixing some of the obviously broken things, they are spending all kinds of money/time on the TCG sideshow.

      5.  SOE has a history of being shortsighted and changing the game to benifit themselves and not the game or playerbase.

      How's that for a start?
