    • Ill take mine HEAVY on the PvE; Light on the pvp please..

What challenging mobs? Name me ONE raid boss or quest mob that had actually required skill to defeat and we'll talk (in WOW preferably due to a common reference that people would recognise) .

I dont think I have to apologize for that. That is the basis of MMOs. It started with that. JUST that. Not including muds, the first real successful MMO was EQ1. Did that release with pvp in it? Did it have a loyal and mature following? Did it last until.. oh wait.. its STILL around.

Yeah and what were the first online games about? Oh right PVP.

<insert identical example of Quake here> only that, the fps genre is ridiculously more popular and successful than MMOs.

I play Tennis with and against other players, hows your wall btw?

And the friendships that guilds made are still around today that have traversed to other games. Thats what a mature PvE environment can do for you. So far, I have a pretty fulfilling life with family and such, I would just like my gaming experience to be an extension of it; not an escape from it.

Now somewhere between that and todays current state of gaming, there has evolved a need for man to want to 'kill' him fellow man. Although its just in game form with toons and avatars, that sentiment is still there. Its why they turn the blood option on and drooled when AoC released decapitations vids.

Was Pong too much to bear for your simpleton Greenpeace mind or something? In AOC, A PVE GAME, you spend most of your time bloodying up NPCs. Whats this got to do with PVP?

      Is golf a bloodsport now?

A lot of people like to dress it up as more of a 'challenge' to try and kill a fellow human than a mob. Actually, its worlds easier to kill humans, as any real PvPer will tell you.

What a steaming pile of Bullshit. This could be the biggest nonsense i've read on these forums in quite awhile! Starving Korean students can make BOTS to do all the PVE grinding for you! Have you seen bots as competent in PVP? No, i didn't think so.

      http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=sxTW3Uct_ls = Mage WOW PVP

What were you saying about pve being a challenge?

Its done all the time and pretty fast too. Look at any battleground in Wow or now in Warhammer and youll find that usually, people die VERY quickly. Long drawn out battles are rare. I dare say, that a battle where two sides that are evenly matched are usually FROWNED upon, and called "turtles'.

      Wrong. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turtle_(game_term)

One side or the other usually detests this so much, as to call it boring, and would rather go in and beat the other side 3-0 or 10-0 or whatever scale is used.

Yeah just like how PVE ers cant stand a challenge, and go fight raid bosses after reading all the encounter tips and strategies on the net.

The most successful "strategy" in any PvP fight is simply this: Find the opposing sides healer, zerg him, then kill out the tank or dps after that,, your choice. This is repeated so much, that even a novice to PvP can understand this. I have played Wow warhammer, GW and a few others and matches typical and usually gravitate to this.

In PVE tanks take damage, DPS deal damage and healers heal. You keep saying PVE is more complicated, i'm still waiting to hear the reasoning.

This boredom leads to ganking outside areas when allowed, harrassing, etc just because people "hate" one side or the other.

uh-huh, or like how  the boredom of PVE pushes people to ninjaloot, pull 30 mobs to your party, bicker about loot, pay for leveling services/EBAY, buy gold off the net or hack your account. Nonsense as usual.

I simply dont understand how someone can play a 10 min PvP 'battle' then say thats more challenging than a boss that wipes your whole raid party several times to where you hate that mob. (and curse the developer for dreaming it up lol)

Maybe because the fights are always unpredictable and that the pvp encounters arnt designed to be beaten every time? Have you ever heard of the term "farm-status" or "speed-runs"? How often does your raid wipe on a boss that you've already defeated?

Developers have to spend far less time coming up with dungeon/mob ideas and become less creative. For a pvp game.. lets see.. Make a few maps, balance the classes after the crying then make a Halloween event for them. Easy enough. Dont make it easy on the developers. Tax them, make them earn the money you are about to pay for the box and each month.

Errrrrrrr ok... Dungeons ARE maps... This might shock you but PVE does require balancing too... and halloween events in pvp? What game are you refferring to???

This pvp is healthy for 'mature' adults to engage in? I know this is where the current state of gaming is going eventually, but do we really want to decimate and humilate people in a gaming world with trash talk, bad manners and poor sportsmanship?

Hah, so how do you get good *SPORT*manship without competitive play? Over generalisations make your comments more weak and stupid than they already are.

Aside from loot grabbing, PvE content usually brings out the best in people.

You're funny. Item grinds don't make people selfish, greedy and elitist, news at eleven. i really don't know how to respond to that one. Wow.

It molds them into a cohesive team or guild to go in an area and beat what the best minds have tried to stump them with.

Best minds! AHAHAHAHAHAHAH! When over half of all the raid bosses i've seen are simply gear check encounters! Why not just cut the middle man BS and confront your "best minds" head on? Ok time out. Have YOU ever played a single player RPG in your life? Or any single player game for that matter? NO? Of course you havn't since you'd probably recognise the half assed copy pasted mod that we call raid encounters for what they are. AI in MMO take us back to the 8-bit era, you remember those mushroom guys in the first Mario game?. "HAI MY NAEM IZ RAID BOS LOL! I R GONNA AOE SILENS J00Z EVERAI 30 SEKS AND SPIKE TANK AFTER KK??"

Even PUGs are forced to cooperate to achieve a boss win; everyone plays their part and the mission is accomplished. Its not done in 5-10-30 mins.. its a journey.

      1) Cooperating less in PVP = loss.

2)5-10-30 minute keep sieges and city raids in WAR, i don't think so pal.

      3) Yeah it's a 6 hour long by 5 nights a week journey that'll take you far far away from the lands of IRL.

Its been suggested by someone here that a pvper would not be selfish as Im saying or something.. You know, if hoping to see the better of people emerge in a gaming community as an extension of humanity...

...By getting so bored of games that we are prepared to pay 3rd world folk to play them for us...

...instead of someone advertising to their base desires to kill, own, main, frag, vaporize, hack, slash, decimate, or freeze to death another player, then call me selfish all day long.

      Football, Tennis, Formula 1, Cricket.

These are PVP games. Do your eyes start bleeding when visually experiencing the brutality and BARBARISM of these hostile evil sports when you turn on the TV? What's wrong with you for god's sake?

Now that I think of it.. Ill have two helpings of PvE please. (apologies for the text; probably shoulda blogged that someplace)

    • What does WAR’s success or failure mean for the MMORPG market?
    • I mean 55 hours a week is pretty reasonable by most countries standards unless you live in France with those infamous labour laws and lazy mentality.

      mcharj11

Hey, if you happen to enjoy shit pay, 1-2 weeks holiday per year, 55 hour working weeks with the threat of being fired for any random reason and not having the right to decide wether you want to work week-ends or being able to refuse relocation...  All the power to you man... All the power to you.

Lazy =/= Being exploited just so my boss can giggle himself to sleep every night on his private tropical island.

And i happen to know a salt mine in Congo who'ed be very eager to hire unlazy people like you!

The statement above shows how absurd content removal is better...  It would be like saying that McDonalds removed some menu items to make your meal better...  I don't see how that makes sense.

It wouldn't make your meal better, although if you happened to be the poor customer that ordered the McDee Rancid Rat Steak you'd feel better that they didnt offer the meal at all. See Wow's Paladin for an example.

I don't see how not having a tank in your faction is at all a good idea.  This is clearly not a decision they wanted to make, and I think it is showing a major chink in their armor.

Not having a tank in your faction =/= 2 RACES don't have tanks. Every faction in WAR has 2 tanks, how is this not getting through to you?

Will all elements that they want in the game be in the game at launch?

Valve wanted to put an assault helicopter section in the original Half-Life and also include an AI sidekick for Gordon Freeman called.... Dog... (who then appeared in the sequel). Stop being so god damn thick.

Will they be using future development time and your sub money to add things that should of been in the game at launch?  I'm not talking about new content - I am talking about them added pieces into the game which are part of the original games concept. What MMO hasn't? For the love of.... Do you even know how much content is planned but then chucked out from lack of time before the game is released? Many asshat companies do so only without telling you. IE: Halo 1 was suppose to have a flamethrower, it was also suppose to have the mongoose as a drivable vehicle, hell it was even suppose to be set in a sandbox world, with full damage modelling and 64 player multiplayer. Stop arguing semantics and get a clue please. Halo went on to become one of the best console FPS of all time, and yes, people did have to dig out another 60 € just to see "some" of the features planned for the first game.

This game will be incomplete and therefor it is being pushed out early - in other words you will be paying to play a game which is still in beta. What MMO do YOU play?

Who says 24 classes is way too many?  Mythic says the 4 are cut because they are not fun or good to play in their current state. In the case of Blizzard, 9 classes with 3 talent trees WAS and IS too many. Play a holy/retribution paladin or a survival hunter or an arcane mage if you don't believe me, i'm sure you'll have LOTS of broken and tedious fun!

I hope this isn't directed at me because I suggest they wait till the game is 100% complete and polished.  You seem to want them to cut corners and give you the game now!  You're the instant gratification weenie in this forum so have a nice lol at your own expense.

BTW, it is not impossible all it would take is a little bit more time.  They are not running out of EA money so they must feel they are running out of time - why they feel that time is short only they can answer. Marketting and financing a project isn't just about wether you have money or you don't so save the stupid comments to yourself. If like any normal intelligent, and reasonable person you'd research the facts before whinging like a child.

1-) Mark Jacobs stated that another delay would adversly affect the community much, MUCH more than this announcement.

2-) Would you much rather they left the classes in and wasted X number of Man Years fixing, revamping, fixing and revamping classes  again and again? The list of changes , fixes , revamps and balancing additions to world of warcraft would fill the average library on it's own, most content patches also had the wonderful "new content" of a new iteration of Alterac Valley. oh! and 2 new repeatable quests!

3-)If you think that including broken classes into the game and "fixing" them later is a good idea, read the WOW forums. That's all i'll say.

I just dont agree that cutting these 4 classes will just have minor effects.  Mythic has pretty much from day one talked about the faction wars in this game and the 4 archtypes.  Its not some minor part of this game and even if they remove 1 dps and 1 tank from each side - it will have more effects than we realise (IMO) if nothing is done to counter it.

But tbh...  I think the main reason why these classes are not released is that they are simply far back in overall development - not only abilites but also in terms of graphix and animations.  To me its a sign of that Mythic is now figthing the clock to release the game in time.  And we all know what has happened to games that have been launched like that.  Vanguard and AOC anyone?

If a game isn't ready - then it should not be launching.  IF the 4 classes are not ready - then the game isn't ready.  Is it ?   This is yet again - not about the gamers.  This is about other things that have nothing to do with gaming or gameplay.   It sounds to me that there is alot of things going on behind the scenes atm and the changing of the name might be a sign of what is going on.  Ofc noone will admit to it at this point cause it would lead to disaster.  But these announchments might be the start of dmg limitations of the real issues.  Why is WAR not making a podcast about this where we can see those ppl face to face talking about something other than how Awsome this and that is ?

Yes - Im very sceptic person in general.  I know that.  But when you have played MMOs for 8-9 years and taking part in numerious betas as a serious tester - then you start to think abit diffrent instead of just going for the fanboi hype lvl.  Asking questions is something that we all should be doing.  Maybe we will not agree on the answers but at least it will make ppl think abit instead of going through the emotions when its to l8t.

TBH i think that pointing out spelling on the internet is pretty pathetic and in your previous post you didn't seem very informed... But yeah i have to agree with you here, besides the fact that removing 4 classes will completely unbalance the game.

I'm actually taking this as better news than most since when they were still saying that WAR was going to be released by the end of the year with all the capitals and all the classes... Since some of them hadn't even been tested yet i was wayyyyyy more worried than i am now.

Then again i'll just wait until Mythic makes their big E3 announcement and shows off some screenshots and videos of the game in all it's glory.... And if they don't, well, i have 10 well spent euros on the CE pre order so i can check out the game for free in open beta to decide on wether this game is worth it or not.

But i hope it is... I REEEAAAALLLLYY hope it is!
