While feature specifics are very important, and I agree with the OP. Ive looked at a few videos and just get the impression, visually, that its old. I looks something like everquest style graphics (though im sure EQ fan's will find that insulting)
looking over the 'feautres' and 'mechanics' along with its visual appeal (lack of), im not sure I see where this mmo fitting into the market.
I know certain guild organisations from EQ, Vanguard and old DaoC players prospecting this game, but they are in the minority.
Sorry you've not said anything new to me.
I DID buy a new computer specifically for AoC, the graphics and mature content were always the best anyway, so nothing new there, but that wasnt the problem.
Never had lag problems...
While there were balance issues.. such issues are common on all mmo's, not game breaking.
Friendly helpfull GMs and players?... well..er.. ok but they were never an issue to me anyway.
So while the above may mean a lot to you, its certainly not the reason AoC fails.
The problem with AoC is that its boring. It doesnt feel like an mmo because of its instances and suicidal teleporting. The crafting and harvesting is utterly boring. The linear leveling process means making new characters a horrible repetative experience.
There is just a complete lack of diversity that you expect from an MMO. its not Massive, theres no sense of adventure, exploration and fun.
The next time I try AoC will be a free re-activation, until then your premium rate subscription is better off paying for a premium rate MMO.
Thanks for the review.
I've never been sure about SB, but now I can saftley say, after your extensive review, that I wont be touching it.
Thanks for the warning.
Nice!
Now a HAC Guide pls ;)
Yea I think Snowbourn is generally regarded as the biggest population.
But personally I've never regarded a 'large server population' as something to be attracted to in most MMOs. Sure its easy to get a party.. the PUG's are usually painfull and frustrating.
The fight over resources can get petty, people become personal and insulting.
I rolled on Gilrain, and its nice to see the same people running around the same guilds, there definatly seems to be more pleasentness and help which compensates for the lack of players.
Well whatever you chose, welcome back :)
