    • The truth about WoW: for anyone thinking about trying it

You don't even have to pvp to get them as in the Arenas you start with 1500 points to spend on shinys and its so easy to exploit to get those epics it's laughable.

That is a lie. You start with 1500 rating, and 0 points to spend.

I dislike those arenas myself, and the mechanic behind it to get items. But disliking it is still not enough reason to lie about it.

Well, then they changed it since I last played WoW. The free arena points was where the term welfare epics originated.

I honestly do not think you have even played wow.

The term "Welfare Epics" was introduced when players could purchase Season 1 and 2 arena gear for the price of Honor points. Which are far easier to get and less time consuming to get than any of the true arena sets.

Hardcore players were upset because the gear they had been farming their asses off in Kara, heroics, and pretty much anything not T6 or higher for months.... Now this armor could  be bought by simply farming out some BG's and the gear was actually on the same playing field as the PvE gear just more PvP oriented with such stats as resilience.

PvE players got pissy about it, and dubbed the armor "Welfare Epics". Meaning they didn't have to work hard for it, it was just a gimme item.

However even the "Welfare Epics" had to be earned, you still had to do shit tons of BG's to get a full set and if you wanted the T6 equal of a "Welfare Epic" you had to put in the arena time, which the points are granted weekly off a calculator of how much you will get per week, according to rounds played and matches won. Arena armor is by far harder to get than Honor Gear. When I say harder I mean more time consuming. Plus you have to be somewhat good at arena because the gear is rating locked. Meaning if you lose a lot and never win, you can forget about ever getting certain sections of the armor.

To my knowledge, there has never been free points just given out, or free arena points to just buy whatever in the hell you want.

When the Wrath patch was introduced, Priest and Warlocks, along with certain items and a weapon for S2-S4 were free for that 1 day only, I do not know if that was a bug glitch or if blizzard intended for it to be that way, I never looked into that. That occurred though for 1 day only.

Oh and there is that Arena tournament server, where if you pay an extra fee, you can make a max level toon and be given any set of gear you want to compete. This isn't real WoW though, that the Cyber Athlete WoW shit.

Other than that, your statement is bullshit.

      World of Warcraft
    • Anyone have a list of games that doesn't use multiple shards/servers(EVE is one game on the list)?
    • For what you describe, Guild Wars is prolly the best for you.

It is F2P once you have purchased the box game or digital download. No Monthly fees.

Do not let the F2P scare you away from guild wars however.

I no longer play guild wars, however I did for about 2 years, and I will tell you it is the most polished better looking F2P game on the market.

As stated by another poster, The GW World is one huge server however it is broken down into instances for each town or zone.

That being said when you go into a zone it will be like this.

      Droknars Forge US - 1

There will be a pull down menu on your screen that will allow you to jump to the diff instances of that particular zone.

So if you are in Droknars Forge US - 1 but your buddy is in Droknars Forge US - 5, either of you simply pull down the menu and switch to the agreed on area.

Chats span all instances so you can speak to through a whisper regardless of where you are.

The game has everything needed, PvE, exploring, mini games, top notch PvP, and it would fit well into your swords and sorc. theme. It even looks post apocolyptic is some areas.

Give it a shot with the core game prophecies, if you like it, pick up all it's expansion packs and have a blast.

I would give the game a 8.5 out of 10.

    • WAR is a lesser WoW

Don't blame the game because players want to live in Scenarios. It's not Mythic's fault that people only want to queue up for Scenarios and not participate in world PvP. I do hope they do something to entice players out of scenario queues. But to call the game rubbish because you didn't get to enjoy one aspect of PvP i quite silly. Seriously, the only game which does world PvP right is EVE Online. But, I don't hate WAR just because I can't go randomly battle people on the world map. Silly.

Yeah agreed, It really shouldn't be compared to WoW at this stage of it's development.

Unfortunately the only way to solve the main issue would be to remove scenarios all together, forcing players out into the field to look for warfare. Which is how it should be.

I would consider even coming back to WAR if they remove scenarios completely and force the oRvR hand.

It isn't a bad game, just needs some smarter management decisions.
