Why do naysayers bash games that are not even out? I fully understand why games like Age of Conan get bashed on once their released. People feel that they were cheated, robbed, lied too etc. so they feel and IMO have a right to express their discontent for a game that they have invested money in. On the other hand why are there so many naysayers going after games not even released like War hammer (WAR) and Dark fall (DF) just to mention a couple. They have nothing invested in those games yet so why do the naysayers make an effort to go to a WAR board or a DF board to post how crappy something is? Its not hard to see that they will get little to no support on those boards.
I can only come up with a few reason as to why naysayers do it. Probably the main reason the naysayers bash MMO games not out is: they are insecure about their current MMO game stability. They see every new game coming out as competition to their current MMO. They have to bash something on the new ones to justify to themselves and everyone else to not play the new MMO. Its not hard to see these people forum hoping and bashing on the new MMO’s boards. Just look at the user names when reading forums you will/have seen what I am talking about.
Another reason, kind of goes with the above point but the naysayers are trying to campaign for one MMO that is being released soon that has them hyped up , and bash all the others that have a close release date. Its human nature to not want to be on the loosing side. I have seen users bash DF on the DF board and the same users praise WAR on both boards and vise versa.
Probably the worst reason naysayers hate on new MMO’s is to just razz up the “fanboys” while not even caring about the new MMO itself. This group is most likely the minority of the top two, but there are people out there who do this. It is a sad way to get you entertainment razzing up people on boards, but it happens.
If you a fan of a new MMO coming out great, I hope you like it. If you’re a naysayer of a new MMO, stay off the boards of the game you don’t like. Try bashing the new MMO on your favorite MMO boards. A lot more people will agree with you there. Naysayers on WAR or DF boards, is like an atheist going to a church trying to tell the people that there is no God. It just doesn’t work. If you don’t like the concept, graphics or whatever it is, its cool don’t invest any of your time or money in the game and stay where your at.

At this point, I hope they never release Darkfall. All of these threads are entertaining to read, and I want them to continue.
The question now is - what will take down Darkfall as the next controversial MMO?
If DF fails to deliever thats easy it will be Mortal Online.
If DF pleases everyone then the forum war will be dead.
I really dont want to bring up ncsoft and aion, because of my sig, but i think it is important. NCSoft has hid nothing about Aion, all the information has been out there for month and months. The good and the bad. They straight up told us that Aion is not revolutonary. We have seen everthing in the game before but it has a different twist. Everyone knows that the gimmick is the areal combat. Pretty simple and straight foward huh? We have known this for a long time. So that leads me to believe that NCSoft is proud of their work, and have nothing to hide. They told us how it is. as for an NDA in aion, what NDA? In my eyes that goes a long way in what game I buy. I am also ok with re-hased ideas too as long as its attempted to be done better.
Now to SoE, they have made some mistakes, but they have also made one of the most popular franchises in EQ. I didnt play SWG, so I cant really comment on that. but it seems that game gave SoE a black eye. With VG, I am not sure but I dont think that was all SoE doing.

That begs the question, when did Adventurine have your respect, and for how long?
For me every new mmo company has a certian level. They gain it or loose depending upon how they handle their product.
The real world is a consumer driven world. The producers must show respect for their consumers. I for one will not support a producer who strings along its potential consumers. I am sorry but I wake up go to work and earn my money so I am not just going to thow it away on a producer who does not care. Its too bad more people do not have this veiw or the MMO genre would be completly different than it is today, and for the better. The consumers are not driving the producers in the MMO genre. This has to do partially with the immaturity of gamers in general.
As for DF I will play it as long as it gets decent reviews, and if adventurine becomes more open when release aproaches. There are many other factors that will determine if I buy Adventurines product (DF) as well. I can guarntee that I will give it plenty of time after release before I give them a dime. I do like the features that DF advertises as it has not been tried in awhile, but that does not give adventurine a "get out of jail free" card.
This is just my opinion, as we each have our own. Sadly there is going to be many people who pre-order DF regaurdless of what adventurine says or does. One day the consumers will demand more from the producers as the wave has started post-WoW with all the dissapointments. The cries will just get louder and then the mmo genre will be subject to consumer respect first, like the rest of the world products. The MMO product is young so it will take time to get to consumer driven. Not to be confused with consumer made MMO's.

I dont see a valid point because when you wait to spring, your going to have new MMO's being released two that I know of: The chronicals of Spellborn and Aion. I would be willing to bet theres a couple more to. So If DF is waiting to release at a time when there is no other release or multiple expansion release, well I am sorry but DF will never release then. It will have to compete with other mmo's. there will be no "open window".
I don't think Aion or Spellborn will have the influence that LOTRO or WoW sport. WoW alone is "huge". I'm not saying that the above is their only reason for delay, (main reason being their feature-complete game's far from it) it's that it's likely only adding to the reasons why not to strive for an '08 release date.
I personally think we'll see the game go gold sometime in '09...For whatever reason, I just want it playable and fun.
And yeah, I have lost "faith" in Aventurine...I lost it a month after they released the "in-game" video in like September. The months after that, I felt as if they've dropped the fan-base in the dirt again.
I will admit TCOS and Aion are not near the same magnitude as WoW or even LoTR. Adventurine has also lost all of my respect as well, so much so that I will not buy DF at release. It will take me a month to buy it as long as the reviews are decent. There is only 1 other company that I have 0 respect for and that is Funcom.

I have been following the progress of Darkfall only for the last six months or so. So, I cannot say that I have been lied to, etc. However, let us consider the realities of the marketplace before we start criticizing. Even if the game were 100% bug-free and ready to roll, would YOU release the game now? I certainly would not. Why?
1. Wrath of the Lich-King was just released. Of the many millions of people who purchased that expansion, I daresay none of them have finished the new content, have become bored with the game and are looking for a new MMO to entertain them.
2. Mines of Moria expansion to LotRO was just released. Of the many hundred of thousands who purchased that expansion, I daresay none of them have finished the new content, have become bored with the game and are looking for a new MMO to entertain them.
3. WAR was recently released, and despite the protestations of some of the playerbase, I daresay that most of the players who enjoy that game, have not yet become bored with the game and are looking for a new MMO to entertain them.
So, if you are seeking to make money off of Darkfall, would you release now, when the vast bulk of your POTENTIAL market has settled into their winter diversion? Or, would you rather wait until (perhaps) Spring, when a greater number of the aforementioned people may be looking for a new outlet for their monthly subscription fee?
That is a good point. I still would appreciate an open beta though.
