I'd say it probably relates more to addictive personality than OCD. Obsessive/compulsive behavior is like washing your hands 50 times a day because you're convinced that your hands are constantly filthy and covered in dangerous germs. That's not addiction. And where did I ever say addicition is in any way an excuse for self-destructive behavior? That's right, I never said it anywhere--though I did comment on it to say such a discussion would be off topic. ;)
By the way, you can preach personal responsibility all you want. It won't make people change if they don't want to. Doesn't make your point any less valid, but come on. You can scream and shout about how people should save money and not go crazy with credit cards but reckless spenders probably won't listen until they're broke and have racked up a couple thousand dollars of debt.

MJ definitely does not rank amongst the scum of the MMO pond--McQuaid, Godager, SOE, etc. He's head and shoulders above those clowns. That said, does it really warrant ++respect? I mean, communication is what developers should be doing. It's like that Chris Rock routine where he blasts people for saying things like "I take care of my kid!" That doesn't make you special, it's what you're supposed to do.
Fair point, and i agree.
It is a sad reflection on the MMO industry that fullfiling basic moral obligations like 'not lying' makes a producer stand out from the crowd.
The best thing players could do, if they appreciate MJ's approach to communicating with his customers, is begin to demand the same from other companies. Say "if MJ can be honest like this, why can't you?" Don't let it fizzle here on the MMORPG.com forums.

jesus I tought I'd seen everyhting.
Addiction takes many forms, and if your posts are any indicator I'd guess you're tightly within its grasp.
Don't believe me? Try my suggestion, I dare you. You might learn something about yourself that you didn't want to know.
Thank you.
But from your posts I can tell you are one of those guys who think that games lead to other social misbehavior like violence and school murders.
There are quite some politcal followers and doom preachers already in the world.
And all of us would be bandits and addicts that all play Wow and GTA4 of course.
No thanks I don't want to have advice from people who mismatch the real social and personal dramas of drug related topics and a hobby you pass time with.
Not even mentioning talking complete trash about a game that is just more popular than others because it's more fun to play to more people than some would wish.
No, see what you're doing here is called a strawman argument. I never said video games are the root cause of all social ills.
If you want to argue with me, argue with my actual points instead of crap you're just making up that's easier for you to poke holes in. ![]()

Are you still playing (or subscribed to) your first MMO?
